2023.05.30 22:47 Different_Stress_798 Ex ruined me as a person yet gets to move on and live a happy life

My ex boyfriend and I were very toxic together. We first got together when I was 15 and he was 20 (gross I know). For 8 years now we have had an off and on relationship. Around 5 years ago we broke up and a month or two later I had slept with someone else. When we got back together I was honest with him and he hit me across the face. Then he made me imitate what exactly I did with the other guy for 7+ months. He wouldn’t drop it. After that, I was scared of him. We broke up three years ago because he told me he slept with 12 other women behind my back. After two years, it really seemed like he changed. Stupid of me, I know. The first week he did change. Then he asked me how many people I slept with the two years we were broken up. I wasn’t honest and went to many lengths to lie because I was scared of his reaction.
We started living together and trying for a baby as soon as we got back together. Once I was finally honest with him, two months into our relationship, he made my life a living hell. He is in alcoholic so every day he would get drunk. He would drunkenly tell me how ugly I’ve gotten and how I am only with him because no one else wants my damaged self, he would make comments about how I turned into a “heffer”. He would call me loose. He would tell me I’m a slt and whore every single day. He would antagonize me then take videos of me acting crazy. Being told how ugly, fat, disgusting, you are for hours straight every single day really took a toll on me. It got to a point where I would curl in a ball crying begging him to stop but he wouldn’t. I could’ve kicked him out but at that point, I lost all self love. I found the only way I could get him to stop was when I hit him.
Once I hit him he would hold me and tell me to calm down. I didn’t do it super often but it was the only way to get him to stop. More than once he has hit me back. The worst was last year. We went to a party and he was so drunk when we left he forced me to get into the car because I “embarrassed him” then he beat me up for hours straight. He told me he picked where he was going to kill/bury me. I jumped out of a moving car to get away from him and he tackled me and drug me back in the car. When we got to his moms house he wouldn’t let me call anyone and his mom told him to get out of her house. He sent a suicide text to everyone he knows. Then his mom let him back inside. She went back to bed and I tried leaving and he choked me until I passed out. The next day I had a black eye and bruises all over my head/bald spots from him pulling my hair out but he begged me to let him stay with me. So I let him. That wasn’t the last time he layed hands on me. After that instance, he cheated around 6 times by messaging other girls. I started hating him but wasn’t strong enough to leave. We would have one good day and 5 bad days but the one good day felt worth it to me. Even if the 5 bad days I spent having anxiety crying my eyes out being verbally abused. He also pinned his family and friends against me. Made me out to be a terrible person and a terrible significant other. He would get drunk and lie about the person I am so they all would hate him and tell him to leave. When in reality, no one understands what I was put through. They all think I’m this abusive toxic person when really, I didn’t have any other way to defend myself or to get him to stop.
Now fast forward, we’ve been broken up for two months. Since then he has posted more girls on his social media then I can count. Every story he’s made has been directed towards me. It’ll be a post of another girl with something I’ve said to him before in a fight. Or a song I’ve showed him. We never stopped talking during this whole break up. He would call me drunkenly every other day crying saying he loves me and wishes I would’ve never lied about my body count. Or he talked about how we were supposed to have a kid and have a life. He claimed he posted girls to hurt me when he’s drunk and he’s sorry but these girls mean nothing and its just an ego boost. Around a month ago we decided to be friends and he promised he would stop posting girls because I told him how hard it is for me to stop checking his stuff. He then talked about getting back together and cried on the phone saying how in love he is with me. He texted me the whole week making me promise I’ll get back together with him and marry him and have his kids once we both fix the broken parts of ourselves. He made me promise to not give up on us. I did.
Fast forward two weeks ago he asked what I was doing during the weekend and I said going to Indianapolis to celebrate my friends birthday. He asked if I was going out to the bar and I said maybe. He hung up and texted me that he is done contacting me because he’s not going to sit around waiting for me while I wh*re around. He told me the second I even kiss another guy he will never speak to me again… even after he’s already slept with and posted multiple girls on his social media. I told him that wasn’t what I was going to Indy for and that I find it really funny how he can drink everyday and do whatever he wants but as soon as I drink once, it’s this. He never texted back. Posted another girl on his story the next day. The next two weeks he’s posted the same girl ignoring me. I called him asking for the $350 he owes me and he said he would send it while the girl was in the background laughing at me. He never did. Yesterday he posted a picture with the other girl with a love song attached to it. She went to his families party at his moms house. I don’t understand how after two weeks he feels strongly enough about this girl to post about her so much or bring her around his family. He’s posted her more than he’s ever posted me in almost 8 years. I’m not an ugly looking girl btw. I think that’s where a lot of his insecurity with me came in. But the girl he’s talking to is also very pretty so idk.
I’m just feeling very lost. I didn’t have intentions on getting back with him until he was done drinking for atleast a year and going to therapy. I get that was sort of a pipe dream but I’m just sad. I know I deserved better but also a part of me feels like maybe I deserved all of this. Maybe me lying about my body count made me deserve all the messed up things he did to me. On the contrary, I have never laughed as hard as anyone as I have with him. I’ve never been comfortable with anyone besides him. I’ve never felt so in love yet so hateful at the same time as I have with him. I feel empty and I wish this feeling would just go away. I don’t get why he gets to move on and be happy and live life like I never existed with a new girl while I sit here in genuine pain.

2023.05.30 22:40 Purple_Poison21 Papercut backing track

Does anyone know where I can find a backing track for "Papercut" without the guitar or bass? I'm trying to find one so I can do an Acoustic guitar cover of the song like how they play it in the music video.

2023.05.30 22:09 someoneidkhelp 2009 Civic SI coupe - squeaking noise from rear, maybe from the bass?

So today was my first day with my SI finally registered and I noticed a squeaking noise from the rear of my civic, particularly during bass heavy portions of songs. Maybe it’s a blown speaker? Maybe interior squeaks? I’m leaning towards probably a bad speaker since it still does it when I’m stationary. Is there one out of the 3 back there that commonly go bad?

2023.05.30 21:20 LeadershipIcy8689 IMO The Quintessential Nü Metal Albums.

Slipknot "Iowa"- Possibly the heaviest album a Nü Metal band has put out, as well as the most accessable to fans of extreme genres. A wild mixture of death metal, thrash, funk, breakbeat, and classic nü metal bombast that helped the genre gain credibility in the metal world.
System of A Down "Toxicity"- Solid heavy song writing mixing elements of thrash and Armenian flair with relevant socio-political commentary made this album a must have for many fans, as well a producing three timeless singles, "Toxicity", "Ariels" and "Chop Suey".
Korn "Follow The Leader"- A masterful album blending funk, hip hop, down tuned alt metal and Jonathan Davis' thoughtful and thought provoking lyrics on themes like depression and social isolation, they create a bleak hellscape and groovy back drop to the late nineties that fit like a glove, given the wild time we had during that period. This album has also served as a main inspiration for the Nü-core genre of down tempo hardcore.
Deftones "Around The Fur"- mixing everything from beautiful sound design textures, excellent riffs, superior song craft and Chino's blend of hellish screams and haunting vocals, they put out a timeless album that still holds up to this day.
Mudvayne "L.D. 50"- An amazing mix of a Jazz and progressive metal rhythm section, groove and slightly technical riffs, and Chad Grey's psychotic vocals, they made the metal world realize nü metal was much more than rap vocals and simple heavy chord structures.
Limp Bizkit "Significant Other"- Probably the most fun and accessable on the list, the band pooled together all their strengths to produce a well written and catchy batch of songs that illustrated the frustrations and general attitude of the average person in every day life.
Rage Against The Machine "Evil Empire"- considered one of the most politically charged albums of it's time, Evil Empire lobbed heavy criticism of the US foreign and domestic policy through Zach De La Rocha's fiery hip hop style amidst the backing tracks filled with slick guitar work and heavy groove and flow from their severely underrated rhythm section. Who knew the taking down of the establishment could be so catchy and fun?
Fear Factory "Obsolete"- while technically not nü metal, the industrial metal output of the genre's most celebrated band laid down the proper frame work for the genre before the genre really caught on. Burton C. Bell's pioneering vocal style of gutteral screams and clean singing inspired many a vocalist of metal genres, as well as Dino Cazares' insanely tight and down tuned rhythm guitar locked in with spitfire drums and bass with great sampling certainly helped push some needed inspiration for bands to come in nü metal.
Chimaira "Pass Out of Existence"- while riding the wave maybe a little too late and suffering from a lack of marketing push from Roadrunner Records, the album is still an underatted classic in nü metal. Chimaira put out an impressive batch of songs for the genre before becoming torch bearers for the NWOAHM movement of the early 2000's.
Ill Ninõ "Revolution Revoluciõn"- a perfect mix of groove metal and their latin roots, Ill Ninõ launched their careers with a unique take on nü metal with dance worthy latin rhythm work, heavy guitar with some flamenco flair, and vocals that both haunt and excite.
Soulfly "Primitive"- not letting their departure from legendary thrash metal band Sepultura get them down, Max and Igor Cavalera showed the world they could still bring their heavy Brazilian influenced sound to the world through their new medium. Blending world music and samba with groove metal and thrash-esq, they came out swinging for the fences on the second and possibly most celebrated album from Soulfly.

2023.05.30 21:00 Healerrr [QUESTION] Tuning a guitar - noob questions

Hello!!! :)
Today I wanted to learn a song which didn’t use standard tuning, so I used a clip-on guitar tuner to try and tune my to:
1 - F 2 - C 3 - G# 4 - A# 5 - F 6 - C
Capo: 5th fret
It was my first time ever deviating from standard tuning, so naively, I tuned UP. In hindsight, if I had attempted tune my high E to C it would’ve exploded to another dimension after a few semitones🤣
But Yeah, strings 1 and 2 were fine. When I tried to tune string 3 from D to G# it snapped. Just wanted to double check a few things for peace of mind (sorry I know these are stupid questions and I can probably guess the answers to some of them haha):
  1. I’m assuming I am meant to tune DOWN every string to this specification (without a capo) - it feels weird in my mind to tune down string 4 from G to A# as it’s almost an entire octave (is it normal to tune down an octave?)
  2. To clarify, string 1 is the low E Bass string and string 6 is the high E?
  3. Will snapping string 3 by applying too much tension have damaged my guitar?
Thank you so much in advance!!

2023.05.30 20:51 Pitiful-Drink4328 P Bass in D Standard?

My band recently underwent a slight style change and as a result we are playing all songs in D standard instead of standard tuning.
I play Fender P Basses, and while my current strings 45-105 do okay they just aren't ideal for it and tend to sound a little floppy.
Any recommendations on string gauge or other set up tips that I can do to get my P Basses comfortable in D standard?

2023.05.30 20:42 Remarkable_Bet94 Boat speakers crackling/static when playing loud

Recently bought a used pontoon boat that had speaker installed. I replaced the broken radio but re connected the existing speakers to the existing wiring as they seemed to work. Now when playing at a level of around 75% or louder both speakers have the same crackling static sound especially with songs that have more bass. Is this a wiring issue, speaker issue, something else?

2023.05.30 20:40 No_Air_8797 Cant find country bluegrass folk song Main Chorus: "Hell come up" sounds like an older song

It sounds country and a little blue grass, I heard it on a country radio station. it also has horn instruments in the background, it has a main singer and there's occasionally a break in the song where a Really low Bass singer starts making sounds. I remember the lyrics were something about going to some honky Tonk place and later talking to a preacher and "Hell come up" the main Chorus I'm almost certain they're saying "Hell Come Up"

2023.05.30 19:43 the_real_tow_mater Reviewing an album a day, day one

Album: Franz Ferdinand Artist: Franz Ferdinand Fav song: darts of pleasure Least fav song: this fire
I enjoyed the instrumentals on the album a lot, the guitar was punchy and worked for me, and I enjoyed the bass line in songs like Jacquline. I didn’t enjoy the vocals on this record as much, the hooks came off as almost annoying, especially on songs like this fire, and the vocals didn’t stick out on any of the tracks. Overall, it was solid and consistent throughout. 7/10
Leave album suggestions for tomorrows review!

I bought this bass in a pawn shop when I was 16, now I'm in my 30's and it's still the best bass I've ever played!
In the 1980's Fender was struggling to compete with the new more metal oriented guitars coming on the market. They saw the success companies like Ibanez were having with their new designs and hired Japanese manufacturer Fujigen Guitars, to design and build a new line of guitars and basses under the Heartfield brand. This is my FendeHeartfield Prophecy II, it has active bass and treble boosts, a blend pot and master volume control. I've been looking for replacement pots for those damaged ones for 16 years as they're a weird prototype pot with a pcb on it. It has the most comfortable neck I've ever held though!

The earbuds themselves are lightweight and compact, making them easy to carry around. They fit comfortably in the ear and come with multiple sizes of ear tips to ensure the perfect fit for any user.

2023.05.30 19:01 Adventurous-Lime-820 Help me find a drum and bass song (it is somewhat similar to feel by misanthrop) more details in the body

Hello everyone, there is this song that I’m trying to find so badly it’s a drum and bass song, I’ve heard it the first time in 2021 but it was out in 2016 or 2017 if I remember right maybe I’m wrong, the thumbnail on YouTube had a yellow duck with some glitchy effects.
The song itself starts with a British man talking with no beat or melody, he talks about how a song is familiar or a song you remember and goes like (he was referring to the song itself so he starts whistling the song) then the song starts the melody notes is the same as what was whistled but in a drum and bass beat not a whistle.

2023.05.30 18:58 Xreath21 First gig in a week and I need to improvise.

I have been playing bass for only four months. My teacher asked me to play in a gig. It will be a two hours long school graduation thing and there will be a small orchestra. But the there is several problems. I dont know the song we will be playing. He says it will be okey to improvise. I only know the genre of the songs (kind of slow ballads) and I never played with someone before. I already accepted his offer so it is too late for turning back. Please give me some advices.

2023.05.30 18:54 Notorious-PNG Are the best synths the ones you dont hear?

In most pop music, chords and harmony is set by the synth. I noticed in a pop rock track im making, that includes a synth. I could hear the synth by itself, but when combined with the drums bass and riff, i could barely hear it.
But when i muted the synth, the song sort of fell apart and felt empty. I guess thats whats going on in some imagine dragons songs (bones and sharks). Theres some clear harmonic thing going on but you dont really hear it alot.
Thoughts?

2023.05.30 18:38 keksdee_ Has Spotify increased the sound quality recently?

Today, I mentioned to my friend that a track we both like (Hydrogen, by M.O.O.N.) somehow has more bass, he told me immediately that he noticed it too and that he's relieved I noticed aswell. Also songs I listen to with pronounced bass guitars just have a bit more bass to them. Is it placebo we're having or has Spotify increased the sound quality (or bass) for everyone?
