2023.06.07 15:29 chddaniel LTDs are hated. I sold $5,000+ and I'm very happy

In the last 4w, we've sold $5,000+ of our LTD: https://imgur.com/a/HGxzmVg
Lifetime Deals are hated by founders. There's a narrative (which has some merit, depending on the company) that they're bad, stressful and that you'll eventually hate your life.
However (semi-hot take):
All in all, I just wanted to share that there's life after LTDs as well. Maybe our product is one that is *eligible* for LTDs, given that we have virality + we need "escape velocity" for that virality to kick in + non-scalable operating expenses (such as AI).
But I feel like the baby is thrown out with the water many times with LTD stories. Some people just take it as a given that you'll hate your life/etc.etc. if you sell an LTD.
I'd rather take the LTD money initially → build that product that can actually have <5% churn in 1y → sell subscriptions better, with that fundraised money.

2023.06.07 15:28 Ionlywantyourmoney Seasons 5 - 8 is unnecessarily hated.

I noticed that a lot of tvdu fans like to hate on other fans who enjoy season 5-8. But why. There's never a good reason to be mean to someone just because they like somethin and you don't. I personally love season 5-8 they r my favorite seasons. Qetsiyah is my favorite tvdu character. We also get silas. We had katherine being a bad ass and manipulating everyone as the bad bitch she is. I liked the traveler unique ways of doing magic. Season 6 we get Kai and olivia, honestly I think season 3 and 6 had the best fight scenes in the whole show. But that's just my opinion. 7 we get heretics, phoenix stone, a supernatural huntress. And 8 katherine comes back. And I know ya'll hate sybil and cade But sybil is a bad bitch in my book idc what ya'll say. So is rayna she also a baddie. What I'm trying to say is that there is so much to love. I honestly think people be hating seasons 5-8 just to hate. Oh I almost forgot about the otherside collapsing plot. Loved that too. I stand season 5-8. This is just my opinion and you can have yours as long as you don't be like other people in this sub and try to shame other people who have different opinions.

2023.06.07 15:28 burstaneurysm /r/RedWingShoes will be joining the blackout on June 12 in attempt to save 3rd party apps from exorbitant API fees. This sub will go private at midnight UTC on Monday.

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

What can you do?

  1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign you username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise is support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

We will pause the poll during the Metallica protest on Jun 12th and 13th and keep the poll going as normal once the sub reopens. For those of you that are protesting for longer, I commend you, and I apologize that you can’t participate in the last few rounds unless you want to DM me your email address and I will email the poll to you. To have this wrapped up by the 12th, I would have to eliminate 6 songs each round, and that would very much ruin the flow of the final rounds as they should be some of the most entertaining. I will be protesting reddit completely those 2 days, and hope some changes come!

2023.06.07 15:21 The_real_rafiki Announcement: We are going dark on June 12th & 13th to participate in the protest against Reddit’s decision to kill 3rd party apps.

Blackout Dates: June 12th & 13th
AdvancedAstrology along with Astrology and AskAstrologers will participate in a 2-day blackout to protest Reddit's decision on 3rd party apps. Reddit is set to begin charging exorbitant fees (millions of dollars) to 3rd party apps for the use of the Reddit API, effectively killing the option to have apps. You can particpate in the blackout as well, by not visiting any Reddit subs for these two days.
Below is an explanation provided by EarthPorn along with links to other resources for understanding what is happening.

Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .

2023.06.07 15:15 partofthesociety Here are the most positively reviewed jjk chapters : Share your opinion on this top 10 !

10 : 132, 83,14%

Mahito the little bitch
It's the end of Mahito's fight, with a great fake-out from Todo ("The act of applause is an acclamation from the soul !"). Yuji shows the dawg he has in him and completes his cog mentality. Getwo comes at the end of the chapter, hyping a potential fight and worrying Mei Mei's fans. Very interesting chapter.

9 : 150, 83,73%

Kill Bill
Maki versus the Zen'in Clan, she completes her heavenly restriction due to Mai's sacrifice and becomes more like Toji (but not fully awakened yet). Maki destroys everything, as she promised to her sister. Very sad and badass chapter.

8 : 165, 84,78%

Yuji's third death sentence
Higuruma is a fan favorite, and Yuji's development on Shibuya's massacre is very interesting and down to earth. Also domain expansion is always a high rated chapter (except Hakari's versus Charles, one of the most negatively reviewed chapter).

7 : 186, 84,82%

"For the next 4:11 minutes you can call me Gojo Satoru - Over Heaven!"
Hakari's and Kashimo's hype paying off, with one of the best fight of the series imo. Also revenge for panda.

6 : 205, 85,93%

-"Is it even possible to hunt this beast ?" -proceeds to lose shirt
End of Choso's fight with him surviving, when a lot of people were afraid for our big brother. That coupled with Yuki hype and the reveal of her technique, it is no surprise that this chapter is high rated.

5 : 149, 87,13

Last relevant female character becomes Toji 2.0
Maki's development + Mai's sacrifice + Ogi's death (well deserved) + Toji's parallel = fan favorite chapter.

4 : 214, 88,33%

Misery vs Eater of shoulders
Everytime Yuji shows what a badass he is, the chapter becomes gold. Add to that confirmation that Megumi's still alive and active (many people thought he straight up died) and foreshadowing on Yuji's nature, and just from that this becomes one of the best rated chapter. Only negative is Hana's mess up at the start of the chapter.

3 : 221, 89,09%

Come back of the sex eyes guy (go lime green brr)
Top 3 chapter is Gojo's return. The man was trapped for more than 1100 days. His release was a little anti-climatic for some, but even then the chapter is very positively reviewed. Also call back from chapter 3 "Nah I'd win" and the hype is through the roof !

2 : 178, 89,11%

The biggest blue balling of recent history (colorized)
The peak of sorcery fight. An all out battle with 3 very powerful characters, Yuta being a fan favorite, coupled with three domain expansion and finally an explanation of Yuta's technique. Generally viewed as one of the best chapters (the last panel being a favorite too).

1 : 212, 90,11%

Megumi and the terrible, no good, very bad day
A big twist, and the start of Sukuna's rampage. This chapter broke the internet when it came out. Megumi's bad day became worse and it's time for Yuji's suffering. A no restriction Sukuna (or so we thought) surfaced and he is ready to fuck shit up. Very hype chapter.

Xbox communities are 'blacking out' in protest of recent Reddit API changes

Save3rdPartyApps

What Is This All About?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API - from being free to a level that is unsustainable to popular apps such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Narwhal, and BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this has an impact that could be detrimental to all of us - including the loss of popular mod tools that help prevent spam and predatory behavior, bots that help both mods and users by automating common tasks, and labor of love resources such as Reveddit that allows everyone to audit mod actions and removals.

In the Media:

The Verge - Major Reddit communities will go dark to protest threat to third-party apps
Techcrunch - Developers of third-party Reddit apps fear shutdown because of API pricing changes
Android Authority - Statement: Reddit's defenses of changes that could kill third-party apps
Engadget - Reddit communities are 'going dark' to protest changes that would hurt third-party apps
Mashable - Reddit's new API pricing could kill its most popular app with a $20 million bill

Overview of response:

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed. Many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
source

Our Plans:

The following communities will be going dark for 48 hours starting Monday, June 12th
They will be joined on Tuesday, June 13th by

What you can do:

  1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

More Info:

Closing:

We understand not being able to interact with your favorite communities can be frustrating, but we truly believe this is for the long-term good of Reddit as a whole. We greatly appreciate being able to share these communities with each and every one of you!

2023.06.07 15:03 AutoModerator r/SpeculativeEvolution will be joining the blackout to protest changes to Reddit's API

What's going on?

Within the past week, you may have noticed a slew of subreddits announcing their intent to join a site-wide blackout to protest recent changes to Reddit's API. These changes effectively kill any third-party application that could be used to navigate Reddit by charging absolutely extortionate fees for something that was previously free. Everything from Apollo and Reddit is Fun to Narwhal and BaconReader will be killed.
Many moderators are reliant on such apps to perform their roles due to the suite of quality of life features they possess, which Reddit's own application lacks. This has the knock-on effect of neutering the ability of moderation teams to manage the communities that you frequent. Many users also simply prefer third-party applications for browsing Reddit for one reason or another, and this change now forces them to either use Reddit's app or nothing at all. Perhaps most critically, the termination of third-part features that visually impaired users rely upon (which are not native to Reddit) will effectively exclude them from participating in Reddit communities.
There is also a very real concern that this move is also a step towards prohibiting other customization options for viewing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite and old.reddit.com, so stopping this here and now is vital.

What's the plan?

We have elected to stand in solidarity with the users and moderator teams that will be harshly impacted by this change. To protest these changes, SpeculativeEvolution will be participating in a planned blackout from June 12th to June 14th, for a period of approximately 48 hours. During this time, our subreddit will be set to private with a message stating the purpose of the blackout. At the time of writing, several thousand communities have opted to join this call to action in order to convince Reddit's operators that they have erred in putting profit over end-user experience. Should Reddit capitulate prior to the scheduled end of the blackout, the community will revert to being public at that time.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

What can I do?

  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at ModCoord.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition!
Cheers,
Your SpeculativeEvolution mod team

2023.06.07 14:50 justforscrollin Afraid of love?

This is a vent + some questions. I'm 21F type 4 sp/sx. I never had a boyfriend, ever. When I was still in school, it was because my parents didn't allow me and I was religious. And now, it's because I think it's a waste of time, money, emotion, energy to be with someone who isn't right for you. Furthermore, I had some moments recently and from my childhood that triggered my feelings of worthlessness. Where they made me think I won't probably meet _the love of my life, no one can accept and love me for who I am and who I'm going to be, and I should get used to the idea of being alone forever. I know it's dumb, I'm only 21 yo. However, even when my parents have a solid relationship all these years, I've been exposed to several cases of failed and abusive relationships from my community and line of work. It just made me scared shirtless of being in a relationship... What if mine will fail too? What if it will end in a breakup/divorce and I don't have someone I can lean on anymore? What if I get hurt so badly?
Despite all of that, I still really really want a relationship. I don't think I'm someone who can be single forever. Several women in my family are living that way, but I don't want to be like that. I want to have my own family, but above all, I want to have a life partner to share my life with and have each other's back. I dream a lot about my perfect partner, though people don't know about that because I hide it really well.
Honestly (I hope without sounding arrogant) I have two men interested in me now... The first one wants to be with me after seeing me for the first time. The second one, is a former secret admirer and doesn't have enough courage to talk to me directly, I didn't even know his existence before his friend told me about his feelings. But I feel like they are only interested in me superficially. How come you like someone and want to be with them without really knowing them beforehand? I don't even hold my physical appearance in high regards. Like out of all people, I don't stand out. I mostly have a resting bitch face and a cold critical personality, only cheery and kind of sweet in some moments. It just... doesn't make sense to me. So I rejected both of them, mostly because there is a religious difference that will complicate things in the future. In my mind, it's just not logical to start things that will never work. And so.. I think that's my toxic trait?
I feel like I'm too quick at making conclusions and too logical with love and relationships. Because of my fear, I watched a lot of youtube videos and podcast about how to search and maintain a healthy and lasting relationships. While they provide insights, they also made me become hyper vigilance in trying to find red flags in a relationship, when maybe there's none and I should give it a chance? For the past 3 years, I found it hard to find someone that interests me. My mind will quickly jump to conclusions that this person won't be great for me, this relationship won't work because of this difference, etc2. I don't know is my standard too high? FYI, my mandatory ideal lists for a partner are: • Able to accept me just the way I am and won't try to forcefully change me • intelligent (not necessarily highly educated, I just want someone I can learn a lot from and vice versa) • Ambitious, have clear goals and dreams, and have courage to realize them • mosly have similiar world and religious values (this one is hard because my values are pretty abnormal in my country lol) • steady and committed, but still willing to improve themselves everyday • keep a healthy lifestyle and know how to takes care of himself, because I don't want them to die young :(, and I appreciate hygiene.
That's all... Is this too much?
Sigh. I don't know what's wrong. Am I being overly cautious? I see my friends jumping into relationships and just enjoy the present. Even though some fail and get hurt badly, some are happy and have a supportive partner. While I immediately stress about the future, will this work? Will this lasts? Is he right for me? Am I right for him? I feel like maybe I should throw some caution to the wind... I don't know... Is this just because I haven't found the one? Ha, like it's even real.
Thank you for reading until the end. Don't expect anyone to answer me, but will really appreciate it if you can give me an advice or two, or point out where my mindset is false. Thank you again, have a great day 😊👍

2023.06.07 14:26 Livid-Patience-1269 Coworker is so annoying...

TL;DR My evangelist coworker keeps bringing up personal crap that we have established is off limits and getting mad at ME for snapping back at her.
So my boss is out of town and I am stuck in the office with my coworker.
One of my biggest mistakes when she was onboarded was letting some personal information about my relationship with my brother slip.
I know, bad move, huge breach of etiquette, I'm giving myself a pass with this one because if I don't I will ruminate on it forever and bully myself into the ground about how I should have done better.
Anyway, I was talking about how gross the dudes I went to college with were and she was saying "well boys grow up."
I was like "no idea how some of those dudes managed to get married they were so gross."
"Well, they mature. Not sure if you realize but their brains are still developing in college. I'm sure they grew into fine young men."
"Bet some of them still don't pick up their underwear off the bathroom floor."
"Well, you don't have to live with them...you live with your brother and hopefully you don't have to clean his floor."
Me, staring dramatically into the distance like I'm in the office, "sometimes I think I can smell it through the walls."
"Well, I've already told you my solution to that and you don't like to hear that."
(She's referring to her opinion that, if life with my brother is so horrible I should move out or kick him out. We currently live in the same house for very personal reasons that she happens to be privy to and believes are not sufficient for me to continue to live there if I dislike him so much).
"You're right. Although you're the one who keeps bringing it back into conversation. I didn't even mention him, you did. You're opinion is noted and ignored."
She got snippy and essentially said "it's 8 am before coffee and I barely know what I'm saying. I don't need this negativity and I'm not here to fight with you. Can we just sit here quietly and relax?"
"Sure."
"Thank you!"
Like? Bitch you brought it up and I'm harshing your mellow?
Kiss my ass and gtfo my personal life. I don't care if I initially invited you in by telling you. It was a huge mistake on my part and we have since marked it as a taboo topic and don't speak of it. I never bring it up, you do, and you can't get mad at me for telling you to fuck off when this boundary has been established.
God I really don't like her.

2023.06.07 14:21 rmoff Does the Apache Kafka community want to join the Reddit protest?

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third-party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.

Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app.
  1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favourite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting as this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

2023.06.07 13:46 Normal-Lime7886 Dumb karens think i have eyes on the back of my head

I work at a cafe as a barista and when theres no customers ill check stock levels, refill powders, syrups all that stuff. Most of which is on the back wall behind the counter, so when im doing it i cant see people at the counter. I do look up every minute or so to see if theres a customer but sometimes im just distracted with doing my job.
So like 90% of the time when im doing that and a customer comes in, they just fucking stare at me waiting for me to turn around, not saying a word and then when i do see them, they have the nerve to say some shit like “ive been waiting ages” or “HELLOOOO?” In the RUDEST tone ever or they just stare at me with their arms crossed impatiently and proceed to be a bitch to me. Like??? SAY SOMETHING?? Like if u cant say “excuse me” or even make a noise like cough or shuffle to let me know ur there then HOW do u expect me to know you are standing there. Even saying “hello” but NICELY would be good. They always come in so fucking quietly too. I have bad ears and i cant hear that well so its just so frustrating because i really try to keep an eye on the door but like i cant always do that if im refilling syrup or counting stock or some shit you know? Oh and im sure u already know but of course these people are always old hags. Young people always are nice about it and are like “excuse me hun” or something and when I apologise theyre like “oh its fine i see youre busy” which is amazing. But these old bitches, i stg i hate them. Even after i say “oh sorry i was restocking” theyre like “you should always be looking at the door” im SORRYY???? How. How do u expect me to look at the door when im actively doing shit that requires me to look at the back wall ??
Anyways that was long but it is SUCH a pet peeve of mine 🫠
