2023.06.07 01:55 Alfred_Jones_feels game programming advice for making this kind of online game?

I'm not sure how to ask this, but I've been playing ponytown for years and I'm inspired to start making my own game, not a pony game, not related to ponytown at all, but I want to have a similar art style of it being pixelated and stuff. the main inspirations that are comparable to PonyTown are:
-pixel art style
-multiplayer mmorpg
-character customization options

I'm really really good at game design, pixel art, pixel animation, map making, etc. I learned basic coding a few years ago but nothing advanced enough to be like, making a game. plus im way out of practice. but I want to try to get back into learning web design stuff and programming again- but thats my own personal thing.
I came here to ask if any ponytown devs have any recommendations for software, websites, or whatever they used to make ponytown. like, is there a program you used? or did you literally just type a bunch of stuff to make things show on screen at just the right times, kind of like glorified slideshow "making and creating 778 lines of code organized JUST right to put a premade jpeg on the screen" type of deal... like where and how do you even begin to make your own game/website...
I know I'm a beginner, but any information will help since I'll refer back to it as I learn more. Thank you!

Different body types could be nice for cosplays or OCs, they would be a great help for Villains, The Sisters, and other tall/short MLP characters. Different limbs would help with making realistic-ish disabled characters, changeling/queen chrysalis characters , and others. Finally, an invisible color would help create custom hairs, necks, and other body parts. (Also pls add Yak haibodies)
