2023.06.07 14:01 dreftzg [Daily News] Are These New Seiko Chronos Ugly Or Not?, Breguet Has Two New Military Chronographs, French Watchmaker Teams Up With French Carmaker For French Race and Dan Henry Is Back With New Colors And Same Price

Welcome back, it's Wednesday and I'll just come out and say it - that Seiko is ugly... Change my mind.

What's new

1/
Seiko Adds Four Completely New Chronographs To The Prospex Collection And Four Limited Editions To The Presage Craftsmanship Series
In 1999 Seiko launched a limited edition they called the Sportura Kinetic Chronograph. It was a funky watch that used four subdials to display the time and chronograph functions. Just looking at it and you feel the angst of the end of the millennium and the cheesy futurism (not to be confused with neo futurism in architecture led by Norman Foster, Zaha Hadid and Santiago Calatrava) that permeated industrial design of the time - from Oakley glasses to Jnco jeans. There’s no easy way to say this, but it’s an ugly watch. I can appreciate the experiment. But come on.
However, Seiko believes that the four dial layout of the Kinetic was pleasing to the eye. That’s why they decided to recreate it in four new solar chronographs that they are adding to the Prospex collection, marking the company’s association with the World Athletics Championships to be held in Budapest, Hungary, in August. Officially called the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph, all four watches sport a new movement with the Seiko Caliber 8A50, a 1/100-second chronograph with a +/- 15-seconds per month precision rating.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph watch is 42mm-wide, 12.9mm-thick, and its lug-to-lug distance is 48.3mm. All four watches have the same case and bracelet design but in different executions and ever-so-slightly different prices and naming schemes. I could go on into detail about the dials and colors, but it’s all just a bit confusing. You can hop on over here if you would like to know more.
Two of the models will be limited edition of 4,000 each and two will be regular production models. The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph watch prices range from 890 Euros to 970 Euros, and all four versions will be available from July 2023. Regular readers of the newsletter will know I keep things very chipper here and don’t pass judgement. But these new Seiko’s are just baffling to me. They look like those Diesel watches you buy at the mall. Am I wrong?
Thankfully, Seiko has another announcement for today. While they have shown these watches previously, they are now starting to sell these stunning Presage Craftsmanship Series watches. Marking the 110th anniversary of its first wristwatch, the Laurel, Seiko is putting out two pairs of these limited edition pieces, with each featuring a dial made by a dedicated artisan or craft workshop through a traditional Japanese decorative technique — enamel, urushi lacquer, Arita porcelain, and shippō enamel. All four models boast a new case shape, a fresh dial aesthetic, and an in-house automatic movement. And they are now hitting the market.
And despite Seiko’s price increases for recent releases, these new editions seem to align with their predecessors. The white enamel SPB393 retails for €1,650, the brown urushi SPB395 for €2,000, the ivory Arita porcelain SPB397 for €2,000, and the blue shippō enamel SPB399 for €2,250.

Breguet Gives Us Two Redesigned Variations Of The Classic Chronograph With The Type XX And Type 20
Just the other day I linked to a great article on Type 20, the references issued by the French military in the 1950s. There were many brands who stepped up to produce these Type 20 watches, but the reference has stuck around to be synonymous with one brand in particular - Breguet. They have been making the Type 20 for years now, with occasional updates, but now Breguet is unveiling the new Type XX and Type 20 – a civilian and military-inspired take on the classic design - which is the biggest change to the line.
Despite at first glance looking like it’s two of the same watches with different dials, the Type 20 and Type XX are actually different watches. Both watches come in the same steel case that measures 42mm wide and 14.1mm thick with bidirectional steel bezels and matching lume pips. But this is pretty much where the similarities stop. The Type 20 has a military inspired dial with mint green lume and syringe hands, while the Type XX is a civilian version with a creamy yellow lume and alpha hands.
The Type 20 and Type XX both have a new self-winding movement, the Calibre 728 for the civilian version and Calibre 7281 for the military version. Each movement has a column wheel, vertical clutch, 5Hz frequency, and flyback functionality with 60 hours of power reserve, plus an inverted in-line lever escapement with a flat silicon balance spring for increased durability, longevity, and magnetic resistance.
Why two different calibers? The difference lies in dial layout and how useful it would be in military or civilian applications. On the military version, you only have two registers, with a 30-minute totalizer at three o'clock, now larger than the 60-second totalizer at nine o'clock. Meanwhile, the civilian version has a 15-minute totalizer at three o'clock, a 12-hour totalizer at six o'clock, and running seconds at nine o'clock.
This is not a cheap watch. It will run you $18,000. But it might just be one of the best vintage revivals we have seen in a year full of vintage revivals.

French Watchmaker Yema Teams Up With Alpine French Racing Team To Mark The Most French Race With Five New Watches
One of the most legendary races in the world starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday. Yes, it’s the 24 hours of Le Mans. The race is, of course, one of the most recognisable french things, alongside the croissant and hating tourists. You know what else is very french? Alpine, the legendary car manufacturer that gained it’s fame with the quirky A110 and is currently doing really well (under Renault ownership) with its successor, also called the A110. Alpine will be present at the 24h of Le Mans With their Endurance Team. If only there was a watchmaker that could join in, making it a French hat trick. There is. It’s Yema. Yema has made five new watches to mark Alpine’s stint at Le Mans - the Yema Rallygraf A470 Limited Edition and four Rallygraf Alpine Endurance Team Automatic models of which one is mechanical while the other three are powered by the Seiko VK64 meca-quartz movement.
The Yema Rallygraf A470 Limited Edition takes all the right cues from 70s racing chronographs. The stainless steel case is 39mm wide and 12mm thick without the double-domed sapphire crystal. The solid caseback shows the Alpine Endurance Team logo and the limitation of the watch. The dial is finished in a gradient-blue colour, Alpine’s signature color, with a vintage dashboard-inspired bicompax layout and Alpine’s logo on the chronograph seconds hand. Inside the watch is the Valjoux 7753 and the watch comes on an appropriate black leather rally strap with a steel pin buckle. This watch will be limited to 470 pieces and can be pre-ordered for a price of USD 2,190 with delivery expected in September 2023.
This runs at a frequency of 28,800vph and delivers 48 hours of power reserve. The watch comes on a black leather rally strap with a steel pin buckle. Limited to 470 pieces, tying in with the car, it can be pre-ordered for a price of EUR 2,190 with delivery expected in September 2023.
Then there’s the meca-quartz variants. They take the same case as the Rallygraf and give it three variations - white dial with a blue outside minute track, a cream dial with a black outside minute track or a black dial with a cream outside minute track. All of these are also available for preorder now for EUR 399 and will be delivered in September 2023.
Yema also announced a second mechanical watch made in collaboration with Alpine, the Rallygraf Alpine Endurance Team Automatic. This will officially be unveiled this coming Saturday at the Circuit de la Sarthe, during the racing weekend of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Although we don’t know all the details at this moment, we can see it’s made of stainless steel, comes on a multi-link bracelet or black leather strap and has a black dial. The bidirectional rotating bezel can be used to calculate speeds, in combination with the inner ‘Temps Ecoule’ flange in white and blue. It is powered by the in-house Calibre YEMA2000 and will cost USD 990.

The Dan Henry 1970 44mm is back with new colours and the same, affordable price
You might know Dan Hendy as the microbrand that has been pumping out vintage inspired watches since 2016. What you might not know is that they made their name with the Dan Henry 1970 44mm Automatic Diver, the first of their watches to feature an automatic movement. While it might not seem like a big deal, it was for Dan Hanry and the shoppers in the sub $500 range. While Dan Henry serviced it’s customers by providing good value for money with quartz movements, the 1970 44mm Automatic Diver was the first time they offered a mechanical movement at such an affordable price. It sold out instantly and now, four years later, they are back with a limited edition of 1970 pieces.
It’s a very big watch. Very big. The heavy stainless steel super compressor style case measures 44mm in diameter and is 14.8mm thick with a 50.5mm lug-to-lug length. Despite these large dimensions, and with all other manufacturers fighting to go smaller, people still love this watch. They love it enough for it to go for over retail on the secondary market, which is not common for a watch in this pricepoint. Both of the crowns, one for rotating the inner-bezel and one for adjusting the time, screw into the case, giving it 200m water resistance.
The dials get a contrasting pop of color on the outskirts. There’s the black and orange, as well as the black and off-white with a black case and blue with white color combinations. Each version comes with its own colour-matching FKM rubber tropic strap. To keep the price low, the watches are powered by the Seiko NH35. Not the best movement in the world, but it gets the job done for an exceptionally low price.
The new Dan Henry 1970 44mm Automatic Diver is limited to 1,970 pieces, available from Dan Henry and costs $310.

Bamford Teams Up With Land Rover For The LR002 Limited Edition
Somehere near the end of last year, Land Rover designed their first watch. They called it the LR001 and they turned to Bamford to put the watch into production. It was a great looking field watch made of titanium and all in shades of grey, with a decent price and limited to 100 pieces so they all sold out very fast. Now, Bamford London and Land Rover are bringing it back with an updated, equally limited, version in all black called the LR002.
The LR002 is pretty much the same watch as the LR001, except for the color. While not a fan of black watches, this isn’t a bad thing, as it gives you a chance to buy the sold out Land Rover watch. What is bad is the price, but more on that later. The case measures 40mm wide and 13.25mm thick, and is made out of DLC coated titanium. It has a shape that resembles a field watch but much more modern and has fixed bars. From photos, due to the thick case and fixed bars, this watch looks to wear much larger than it actually is.
The dial seems to be much more interesting than the case. It has a sandwich construction with the top part having a matte black surface and the underside being filled with white lume. And by alternating circular and oblong cutouts, there’s a dynamic look to the dial. Inside the watch is the same movement as in the LR001, the Selita SW200-1B, and it’s delivered on a leather NATO-style bracelet.
The LR002 will have a run of just 100 pieces that are exclusively sold through Hodinkee. At the time of writing there are still pieces available for sale at a price of $1,700. And that’s the biggest issue. The LR001 sold for about $1,300 and the only difference between the two watches is the DLC coating. Is it worth the price difference?

The Casio A120 Is The Best Pairing For Stranger Things, But Do We Need It?
The immense popularity of Stranger Thing undoubtedly lies in it’s 80s nostalgia that reminded us all of our childhoods. While playing to our good memories, it also roped in new generations by picking the best the decade had to offer and presenting it as something cool. That’s why you have a bunch of kids out there listening to Kate Bush and Metallica, while wearing Casio watches and buying VHS tapes. So it only makes perfect sense that Casio would team up with Stranger Things for a limited edition watch, and what better reference to do it with then the A120. This is the Casio x Stranger Things A120WEST-1A.
The watch is a classic Casio A120, with a 33.5mm x 40.7mm rectangle case and since it’s plastic it weighs only 25 grams. It’s not filled with a bunch of functions, but it does have a chronograph, alarm and calendar and you get three years of battery life. There’s a number of Stranger Things references on the watch - there’s a silhouette of the series’ demogorgon monster beneath the digital display and the LED backlight flickers and rapidly blinks just like the surfacing of a demogorgon in the show. Once lit, you can see the watermark of an upside down Stranger Things logo.
Casio has not announced when the watch will be available or how much it will cost, but you can keep an eye out on it here. Is this a nice homage to a good TV show, or just another example of over-consumerism and corporate media properties slapping their name everywhere, without actually making a meaningfully authentic version of the watch?

Watch Worthy - A look at an offbeat, less known watch you might actually like

Dryden is a go-everywhere-do-anything watch with plenty of options
Great dials are always appreciated, but no matter how good the dial is, it doesn’t matter if the watch isn’t wearable. The excellent design choices found on the dial of the Heartlander follow through to the case. Crafted from stainless steel the 38mm-wide case has a lovely 46mm lug-to-lug distance and is only 11.2mm-thick from solid steel caseback to domed sapphire crystal. These dimensions are in the Goldilocks region for an everyday watch for me and my ~6.5-inch wrist. The cases are predominantly brushed except for a thin highly polished bevel that flanks each side of the lugs.

2023.06.07 13:59 EriDeeri Stop bringing fake service dogs inside.

Stop bringing your damn fake service dogs inside. Your fake Amazon vest doesn’t mean shit. We’re smart enough to know your scared and shaking toy poodle that’s being dragged across the floor while you shop isn’t a service dog. No, therapy and emotional support is not a service.
Yesterday two fake service dogs (both chihuahua poodle mixed something or others) slipped in and began barking at each other and going at it. One employee said to one of the owners that we only allow service dogs in. “He’s a service dog,” the owner said. “Service dogs don’t react to other dogs and bark,” employee said. “The other dog barked first,” owner said. 💀🤦 Don’t worry Karen, we’ll talk to them to. But because you’re all such jerks, we know you’ll be back again with your fake service dogs next week.
Another instance: someone tries coming inside with this huge Corgi inside of the cart, trying to jump out but owner pushing them back. Before employee could even say anything, they snap “he’s a service dog.” Employee says the dog can’t be in the cart. Member responds again “he’s a service dog.” Employee responds again “still can’t be in the cart.” Owner removes dog with a huff.
I want to let all you stupid fake service dog owners that you mess up the work of actual service dogs that come inside. We have a real seeing eye dog that comes in at times as well as actual young service dogs in training that you ruin it for. We all know your Chihuahuas, French Bulldogs, pit bulls, etc and yappy terriers aren’t doing shit. Especially when you try to put them in the cart, or when they are reluctantly being dragged around and appear to be miserable. Just stop.
Can’t wait to see how this gets y’all’s panties in a bunch now.

2023.06.07 09:53 RedSquirrel17 Is 'Jeanne du Barry' Really A Box Office Success?

You may have seen some entertainment outlets last week hailing Jeanne du Barry's apparent financial success.
Johnny Depp's 'Jeanne du Barry' enjoys decade-best start for a Cannes opener at French box office
The Hollywood Reporter
Eric Marti, from industry analysts Comscore France, believes the film could reach 850,000 admissions by the end of its theatrical run.
French distributor Le Pacte is even more bullish:
Le Pacte’s boss Jean Labadie, a veteran French producer-distributor who was one of the film’s first backers along with the sales banner Goodfellas (formerly Wild Bunch International), is even more enthusiastic than Marti, saying that “Jeanne du Barry” could garner up to one million admissions in French theaters.
Variety
However, despite that 'record-breaking' opening, the numbers aren't quite adding up for Maïwenn's expensive period drama.
After opening at the Cannes film festival on May 16th, Jeanne du Barry scored 401,481 admissions in its first week — 345,298 in theaters — which is indeed the best start for a Cannes-opener at the French box office since 2013's The Great Gatsby. Depp's PR has, predictably, been celebrating this as a triumphant return to box office success for the 59-year-old, signalling to any onlooking Hollywood producers that he's still a draw for discerning punters. But these numbers start to look less impressive when you scratch the surface.
The film's second week admissions declined by 55% to 156,279, and a further 52% in its third week to 75,653, for a current cumulative total of 631,477 admissions. It has grossed an estimated $4.8m so far, according to Box Office Mojo. Assuming that rate of decline stays consistent across its theatrical run, admissions will plateau at around 700,000 for a total estimated gross of $5.3m, well short of that lofty prediction of one million admissions from Le Pacte. If Comscore's prediction of 850k comes true, that would result in a $6.4m gross, so let's call that the upper estimate.
So how would that stack up against Maïwenn's career so far? Her most successful film, Polisse (2011), achieved 2.4m admissions, grossed $19.8m ($20.3m worldwide) and won the Jury Prize at Cannes 2011. Her most recent film ADN (2021) grossed $2.1m, despite being affected by reduced admissions due to Covid. Jeanne du Barry is tracking closely with Mon Roi (2015), which attracted 745,483 admissions and grossed $5m ($8m WW). In short, JdB is performing close to average for a Maïwenn film, so while Depp's inclusion doesn't appear to have significantly harmed its performance (as expected, he was never cancelled), it certainly hasn't elevated it beyond expectations.
But will it be profitable? The film's production budget was reported by Deadline to be $22.4m, making it one of the most expensive French films of 2022 and one of only three French films with a budget of over €10m. That figure doesn't even include things like marketing and distribution costs, so the film's break-even point will be several million higher. You don't have to be a mathematician to work out that there's going to be a pretty sizeable shortfall there.
PS if you're interested in a detailed breakdown of JdB's numbers, check out film producer (and Amber supporter) Paulo Boccato's threads (#1 and #2), in which he explains that while the film's opening week looks good on the surface, the finer detail shows that it's underperforming relative to its high production budget and wide release.
Now, it must be said that the French release isn't the end of the story: Netflix have acquired streaming rights (in France only) starting 15 months after its theatrical release, and there have been attempts to find an American distributor, although that has proved difficult so far due to Depp's poor reputation in the US film industry. But even if it does end up being shown across the Atlantic, it's difficult to see how the $20m (minimum) gap to profitability is going to be bridged.
So, it's well on course to becoming a flop at the French box office, a US deal might not happen and Netflix probably won't make up the shortfall, which all begs the question: why was this film ever greenlit with a budget so high and a star whose reputation makes it difficult to find distribution in the US? Beware the Depp spin on this one.

2023.06.07 08:15 Tsx143 I have a dog phobia and have to live with a french bulldog for a month

Since childhood I have always had a fear of dogs. It is not necessarily a fear of the dog being aggressive or biting me (although that is a concern) it is more so the dog's energy. Dogs get REALLY excited when they see a person or another dog and that type of energy immediately puts me in fight or flight mode. If they see or notice a person they will jump, bark, and move around a lot and I will IMMEDIATELY get filled with fear and anxiety.
My brother has dropped off his french bulldog at my family's house and the dog seems friendly but does get very hyper. She always tries to run up the stairs when she sees me (but I will get anxious/scared) so I close the door. She is kinda learning to wait down the stairs now. But she is still standing high on her paws while she is at the bottom and it almost seems like she is waiting for a signal from me when she is down there.
Anyway, what do I do in this situation? I want the dog to be perfectly calm but I am not sure how to do that when my nervous system can be easily triggered. If the dog is calm, I am calm, but if there is any kind of sudden change in the dog's behavior then my anxiety will be triggered and I will just end up leaving.
For now, my mom, sister, and cousin are the ones taking care of her but since I am living in the house I want to try.

2023.06.07 06:23 Hoobiezz Friend tried to convert me :(

I’m feeling cranky and vulnerable and just need to put this out there.
I (F30s) am good friends with a neighbor (F40s) in my apartment complex. (I’ll call her Y) Y and I are part of a group of about a dozen neighbors who regularly get together for doggie play dates. Y is Christian. She knows I’m bi and don’t go to church. She’s asked me a lot of questions about lgbt issues. Sometimes it can feel invasive but I value our friendship and can tell she’s genuinely curious and doesn’t have anyone else to ask, so I patiently look past her verbal diarrhea.
Y just got out of a relationship with her extremely violent ex-boyfriend. For the past week, our little community of dog parents have been showering her with love and helping her relocate to a different apartment. Two nights ago, she asked if I could host her large rambunctious puppy for a few hours so she could focus on cleaning up her old apartment to get her deposit back. Of course I agreed. When she came by around 9pm to get her pup, I invited her in to catch up and relax for a bit before doing her last bit of cleanup. My tv was paused, she asked me what I had been watching. I replied “It’s called ‘Happy Shining People,’ it’s a documentary about the Duggar family and religious zealots.” She looked confused, said she didn’t know what a zealot is, and asked me if I believe in anything.
I took a breath and calmly stated that I was raised Protestant, believed deeply for many years, am now agnostic, and that for me that means “I don’t know and I don’t care because I build my personal and professional life around creating positive community.” She then began intently questioning me about what I believe, why I left the church/faith, if I’m afraid of what will happen if I die, if I ever read the Bible, what I feel about my “unnatural relationships,” etc. I calmly responded being vulnerable, sharing some books from my shelf, but still honoring my personal boundaries. Y told me she was worried that I wouldn’t know/love God “before it’s too late.” She then cheerily said “what I want to ask of you is just try talking to God. Just try it. You can even write it down. It can’t hurt to try.” This went on for a bit before her dog graciously interrupted signaling it was time to go.
As we were gathering her things she said “So, after all we talked about, after all I said, do you feel like I was bible beating you?” I told her yes immediately. She asked why, since she didn’t quote scripture. I told her that it never sits well when you finish with a sales pitch. She got defensive and said “why? I’m just asking you to try? That’s not bible beating is it?” I tried to explain that most lapsed Christians have deeply personal often traumatic reasons for leaving the faith, and it’s not for a lack of try. Thankfully, her pup interrupted again. So we said our friendly goodbyes and she left.
I was left mentally and emotionally exhausted. I’m her least religious and only queer friend. I’ve put in hours of work supporting her through this crisis when her church didn’t volunteer and her family ghosted; but apparently I lead a bad life. I thought her questions came from sincere curiosity. She’s had her life laid out as we pack and move everything she owns in an emergency. I felt like I could be vulnerable too. I now feel like an idiot. The questions were just a 90 minute set-up for another evangelical sales pitch

2023.06.07 06:04 CrowReader Artist/musician/comedian, experienced builder looking to buy undeveloped property, 1-10+ acres to build my personal home. Off grid is ok.

Hey folks, just what the title says. I want to pay an affordable amount of cash for some land.
About me: 45, single guy, no kids, 2 great lab mix dogs. Love art, music, nature, travel. Play many musical instruments and styles. Do pottery. Love teepees, have a 16 footer. Love to smoke my cares away but don't drink. Professional singesongwritecomedian from Nashville, TN (25 years). Raised in Alabama but got educated and traveled. Speak French and German Fluently. I have a deep respect for Native Cultures and hope to do some volunteer work at the Pueblo. Looking to spend a couple years building my personal retreat. My happy place that is all mine. I am easy to get along with, respect all cultures. I am also an experienced builder, built 15 traditional houses for a company in Nashville in 2020. Open minded, ready to learn. I want to help contrubute art, music, comedy, and positivity to the Greater Taos community. I know you only get out of community what you put into it.
So what am I looking for?
I am looking for .5 up to 40 acres, depending on price, for a safe place to build a home. I don't want anything too surrounded by sketch, or too remote to reach. I have a 4wd and the Mesa is fine.
I am currently trying to buy 1.5 acres on the Mesa near 2 Peaks, but so far it hasn't worked out. I like that area because it is remote, offgrid, and you can build how you desire.I also have a friend who lives out there.
I am currently considering a timber and strawbale design, with some Earthship elements included. I will be doing most of the work myself, and hopefully with the help of some community, as well as paying as needed.
If you or someone you know owns land for sale that you think might interest me, please DM me for further discussion. I am only buying 1 place for myself. I am not an agent, just a guy on Reddit.
I will have cash after July first. Thanks for taking the time to read this far. -J.

2023.06.07 04:48 veridiangreens IAmtheasshole for getting my scammed lol account back, returning it and keeping the compensation?

Using translator, english isn't my mother language.
It's kind of long so let's start here, I play league of legends since 2011 and I invested some money in very good skins and I had good rank, I had all the gold rank skins from launch until 2020.
In 2020 because it was already tedious and other games caught my interest I decided to put my account for sale, I received some offers but there was one in particular that was what I was looking for (I had already informed myself about prices and risks). I talked to the seller and (I will skip all the conversation and doubts) I accepted to pay half of the price and then the other half the following month.
We jump to the payment, it is made and I hand over the account, give his commission to the trusted intermediary and all goes well, but as expected when it was time to collect, the buyer basically disappeared, because he paid via western union I could not locate him and I had no receipts or references, basically I lost some money but I had the money I needed to pay what I was looking for (a nintendo switch for my girlfriend and I) so I stopped the search about 3 or 4 weeks after the disappearance.
Jumped to early 2023, this very year. I was rummaging through my emails looking for my account from another game, genshin impact and i have about 16 emails, many accounts and stuff like that, when i entered one hotmail i searched for the usual keywords "verification" "code" etc i came across one from riot, i had my riot accounts sorted so i wondered which one that was, my surprise was remembering that was the original email, I went back to the old facebook chats and indeed, the buyer profile was still off and there was nothing in screenshots, so I collected the data that riot asks to recover (creation date, first purchases, etc) and after 3 days I managed to recover it, it was on a Canadian server and I saw that they invested about 2500 Canadian dollars, I felt the cold on my back but nobody contacted and nobody talked.
1 week or 2 later guess who shows up, the former buyer. As I expected, he came very violent asking me what **** was wrong with stealing my attention "HIS" account and many more threats. I told him to calm down, it wasn't me who disappeared after not finalizing the payment and he said he will get it banned, I said "go ahead, lose the money you invested in it". It turns out that a canadience had bought it from him and yes, he was VERY pissed off with the guy.
After saying things I'm afraid to mention, I got fed up and ended up banning him, I checked the account more and saw that it was linked to wild rift and valorant, which made me feel really bad for the poor guy so with my best French I talked to some random connected on his friends list, the guy asked who I was and in a very aggressive way told me to give the account back, the current owner was very desperate as q invested a lot and doesn't know what to do, I gave him my email and that I wasn't planning on collecting a ransom, I just wanted to talk to the current owner.
A couple of hours later in an email in English the current owner spoke to me practically begging me to return it, that I could pay, I told him no problem, I gave him the starting data, original email and current data, the guy asked if it was truthful, so I took capture of the emails I sent and indeed, they were, he invited me to a discord call where he thanked me very much and asked me if I was the one who rescued it and I told him no, I am the original owner.
I explained the situation, the scam and that I expected to find the account as I left it or slightly advanced but I saw a big investment and it is something I don't want to have on my conscience, the current owner offered me what the scammer owed me but I refused, I really admit it was more for morbid to see if I could recover it, at the time I didn't know it years ago.
The current owner insisted on giving me at least some compensation as he didn't know about the scam and knew the account was very good for the price it was sold for, he sent 100usd to the paypal account to my email and invited me to play, I told him it wasn't necessary, I just wanted to put an end to this guy and know if my account wasn't in his hands. He thanked me for a while and his friends still with doubts asked me a lot of questions.
I gave them all the guarantees and protocols that it was all legitimate and I wasn't planning to recover the account, I didn't even play any riot product, it seems that I convinced them so they left, I kept the 100 usd, tears of the kingdom can't be bought alone ajsjaj.
Second climax, I promise it will be shorter.
I was telling that situation to my friends and one of them insisted very aggressively that this was my plan from the beginning, get it back and then collect ransom but after seeing that it was a lot of investment I surely felt bad and ripped 100 usd from the poor buyer, clearly I defended myself and as it was a discord call I couldn't record or prove to him that I didn't ask for anything (and I really didn't) but he still insisted that I shouldn't have kept the money, from someone I didn't know and scared to death, we had a heated debate and in short, he was very offended by my attitude of "I didn't ask for anything and I don't see any reason to refuse it. "
I spoke again with the current owner and told him that it was probably wrong to accept his compensation, he told me that he checked everything and it is legitimate, the original mail and data, so I can take the 100dollars as payment for that missing data (which he didn't have). We played a game in which I was very rusty and I told him that I was very sorry for the scare, it was a childish foolishness of mine to recover it, he told me that I gave him a horrendous scare but he can forget it since it is over and I turned out to be reasonable (thank heavens he was too).
In the next meeting with my friends, I showed the chat where I proved that I didn't ask him for anything and that I can assume everything as compensation for the missing data but it wasn't enough for this guy, we had another heated discussion in which I told him that I was not asking him for anything and that I can assume everything as compensation for the missing data but it wasn't enough for this guy, we had another heated discussion in which I told him that I was not asking for anything. I really don't think he's right but I'm the bad guy for keeping the compensation? I was planning to return it anyway even if the current owner was unreasonable.
Extra fact in case you ask: if the account had been the same or slightly more advanced, I would have returned the money he sent me to the scammer, but maybe not, I could report it as revenge, in the end the current owner assured me that the scammer is calm since his ruse did not result in banning and consequently in him losing money, I don't care what happens to this guy or if he wins or loses, I just wanted to know if my account still existed.

2023.06.07 01:32 propheticperfumes Three Arcana Wildcraft Reviews 🔮🌲💝

Hello you lovely flower petals and dew drops! I figured now would be a great time to post some Arcana reviews I’ve been working on since they are currently having a special 3 + bonus 1 FS sale going on, in case some of these scents are ones that you might have been hedging about!
Frigg 🐑🧶
Description: Black tonka bean, raw cashmere wool, French bakery vanilla, soft warm skin, confectionery sugar, and sweet almond.
On skin: I’ve noticed a trend where Arcana scents need a solid minute to settle on my skin before they bloom properly, and this one is no different. Upon immediate application, there’s a very sharp smell, almost like an expo marker, but despite my worry, this quickly fades out. Then, I get the the most magical wool accord I have ever smelled. Like, I can practically feel the wool tufts fresh from a goat as I sniff. It’s extremely comforting, and made even cozier by a very warm vanilla, the creamy tonka bean, and what I’m sure is the skin musk. But what really makes this scent extra special for me is the sweetness from the sugar and almond notes. It’s not cloying or overwhelming, but the added sugary layer helps set this scent apart as not just another ‘my skin but better’ scent.
Overall thoughts: In case you couldn’t tell, I absolutely adore this! Added to my ever growing list of favorite scents for sure. It’s like Julia went to her magical perfume cauldron, though ‘hmmm, what would be the perfect snuggly calm down scent?’ and created this. I’ve been wearing this to sleep a lot to combat bad dreams, and also just whenever I need a dose of cozy. Do not sleep on this scent (sleep with it on instead)! FYI, this is currently still available, but will be coming down alongside the rest of the Hel’s Belles collection at the end of this month.
Electra 🎀🍨
Description: Pink carnation petal ice cream, Mexican bakery vanilla, eggnog, sweet cinnamon, and nutmeg.
On skin: There’s a burst of carnation petals from first sniff; the carnation note here is very realistic, and is a bit too strong for me for just a minute until the perfume settles onto my skin. It’s a very true-to-life spicy pink floral note, with a very creamy aspect (which I’m guessing is whatever is in the ice cream and eggnog accords), though I wouldn’t actually call this an ice cream scent, more like a sweet and creamy scent. The spices are also very prevalent but never veer into candle territory and do not irritate my nose and skin (which cinnamon can sometimes do to me). I actually really love the dry down stage where everything has mostly settled into a delicious vanilla haze that is surprisingly not at all cloying and is rather warm and cozy. That Mexican bakery vanilla note is absolutely gorgeous!
Overall thoughts: I was a bit wary that either the ice cream or eggnog notes in this would turn sour lactonic on me, or that the spices would be overwhelming, but I’m delighted by the success of this scent on my skin! I can absolutely see myself wearing this a lot in the winter. I’m also very impressed with how this manages to be a sweet scent without being too saccharine. This is what a spring fairy would smell like as they bundle up to visit their friend in the winter realms. Currently still available on the website, though the sample sizes are sold out.
The Righteous Uterus 🫚🌲
Description: A power blend of fresh ginger root, bergamot peel, black vanilla, spruce branches, balsam of Peru, and sparkling water rests on a base of unbreakable sandalwood and corporeal amber.
On skin: This is super well-blended, and a lot of these notes are ones that I normally don’t wear, so I’m having trouble describing it, but I’ll try my best! I thought this would spell spicy from the ginger root, but it’s not at all; instead this gives the vibe of ginger ale, which I’m guessing is the combination of ginger root, bergamot peel, and sparkling water, though it’s not actually very aldehyde-ish to my nose (which I personally am glad for). The scent isn’t sweet, that black vanilla is very much not a gourmand vanilla, but it adds some depth. The best aspect of this scent for by far though, is when the woody notes and amber come out to play. I’ve said it before, but I think Arcana has the most amazing coniferous tree scents, and this is no exception.
Overall thoughts: If my earlier description was confusing to you (understandable!), my more subjective, but perhaps more informative assessment of this scent is that it gives off the vibe of a side quest to find a rare healing herb in the forest. Or maybe that’s even more confusing, in which, case my apologies! As I said earlier, these are not notes I would normally go for, but this perfume was, in fact, a generously included surprise freebie in my order! Thank you so much to Julia for this treat, because I am actually very surprised by how much I like it. It’s both bracing and soothing, and I have been wearing this on occasions where I feel unwell but still want a bit of scent (such as, fittingly enough, during cycle issues). This perfume is currently available as a relic on the website, and I do believe that a portion of sales for it goes to support a charity for women’s rights, which is an added bonus!
I hope this was at least somewhat helpful! I’ll be picking up some samples from their newest Night Tripping Fairies release (I would have gotten their Four Nights scent if it came in a sample size for sure based on how much I love Frigg!), so hopefully thoughts on those will be up in the future. As always, please take care of yourselves.
~ Godbless and Godspeed, K 💖

2023.06.07 01:25 Fit-Platypus-7117 LOOKING TO REHOME TWO DOGS -Husky/Lab Mix

LOOKING TO REHOME TWO DOGS -Husky/Lab Mix
We are looking to rehome two adorable dogs that were found in East Charlotte. Breed unknown, but likely husky/lab mixes. The dogs are about 2 years old, and are siblings, one boy and one girl. They must stay together as they are very close and codependent. Both have received their rabies vaccine and full physical examinations; vet records will be provided.
The girl (black/white) has hyperpigmentation (dry, dark, hairless skin) on her back thigh/butt area, and we have antibiotics and anti-itch medication provided by the vet for treatment. The girl also has a small lump in her ear that will need to be examined, although the vet did not state this was a large concern. Otherwise, the vet indicated that both are happy and healthy.
These dogs are extremely sweet, and if we had the space in our home, we would be keeping them ourselves. They are good with our other dog (French bulldog), and love to cuddle and be affectionate. They love scratches and belly rubs. Neither have used the bathroom anywhere but outside. Both are ready for pickup in East Charlotte (Plaza Shamrock) now. We would love to see these dogs go to a loving home. They both seem to have attachment issues and would need a family that does not travel frequently.
Rehoming fee negotiable (to cover vet appointment)
We’ve been calling them Vegeta (girl) & Goku (boy) (Dragon ball z)
Please DM if interested.

Ryker (Great Dane) was so very playful, and McGee (French Bulldog) was the attention seeker.

2023.06.06 19:06 Wise_Function8779 [Review] 30 or so fragrances reviews, for the archives! Some clones, some designer, some niche, cheapies, high end, low end.

Let's just jump right into it! Hopefully this helps some blind buying souls such as myself. Here are some reviews:
Afnan 9PM - JPG Ultra Male: Picked up a bottle at Amazon for $35USD at the suggestion of one of the users in one of my previous threads. Typical paper cardboard housing with Afnan branding. But we're here for the juice anyways. Basic design but... premium feeling. Nice weight, the atomizer cap is also premium. Good strong spray that outputs a cloud of mist, very good atomizer. First spray you're hit with a citrus and lavender scent, fairly fruity, but this almost immediately leaves and is replaced by a very warm scent which I would describe as a spicy amber. This sticks around but only as an undertone to the extreme vanilla. It's not overpowering, but it's identifiable. Very nice. The first time I sprayed it, I immediately identified the JPG heritage in it, I have owned Le Male and that vanilla is identifiable anywhere. Highly recommend. 8/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Ana Abiyedh Rouge - Baccarat Rouge 540: If this is an accurate BR540 clone, I can confidently say the scent is very mid. Leans heavily on wood and amber, gives CK Obsession vibes oddly. I wear this because others are in love with it. Have gotten raving compliments. But I also rarely wear it alone, layering it with CDNIM. Great performance, lasting many hours projecting, and when it becomes a skin scent it's there until you wash your clothes I swear. Edit: I got a BR540 authentic decant, it's VERY similar. Like REALLY similar. The price difference on the two is nuts. 6/10. Would I wear it again: Reluctantly Would I want to smell it on someone else: Not really Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Armaf Odyssey Homme - Dior Homme Intense/Valentino Uomo Intense: Almost tobacco spicy like smell on first spray, then settles into a vanilla amber. Lots and lots of amber and vanilla with this one. Good winter fragrance. Affordable price. Average projection and performance of 4-5 hours max. Not really for me honestly, it doesn't stand out. 6/10. Would I wear it again: Meh Would I want to smell it on someone else: Not really Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Belcam Shades of Blue - D&G Light Blue: A fantastic fresh fragrance, and for the price it's amazing. Definitely the best smelling Belcam cologne yet in my opinion - other than the shit performance. It's so bad guys. Spray and it's become a skin scent within 20 minutes max. Over spray like crazy for a slight chance at this sticking around. Fantastic as just a pillow spray/room scenter imo. 6.5/10, major dings for performance. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Belcam Geau Black - ADG Profumo: Has a pepper musk added to the original Acqua Di Gio scent, and I'm not sure I like it. Mid performance, lasting perhaps an hour. Great price as always from Belcam. 5/10. Would I wear it again: Eh Would I want to smell it on someone else: Meh Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Belcam Geau Original - ADG: When I picked this one up I had a bottle of the original ADG on hand, and upon spraying both on both arms, I found Belcams perfume actually lasted longer than the OG. It is more linear than ADG, but after letting my dad (who's worn ADG for years) try to distinguish between the two after the dry down, he picked Belcams perfume as his choice for which more accurately represented what he thinks of when he sprays ADG! Very intriguing. Good price as always! 7.5/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Belcam Classic Match - Drakkar Noir: This is obviously intended to be a clone of Drakkar Noir. I have a bottle on hand, so I was able to compare the two. Personally I find the original Drakkar to be midtier at best in terms of performance and general smell, but I digress. Spraying both on me, the initial scent and the dry down both had Classic Match as a dead ringer for Drakkar! There was a bit of a pine undertone that perhaps was not quite right, but very easy to miss. Oddly, when I let my brother and father try out distinguishing the two in the initial spray, they both disagreed with me that one smelled vastly different from the other. It's possible their sniffers were off as we had been at new perfume testing for a while by that point. I have to disagree with them, it's a really good clone. 7/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Belcam Geau Blue - ADG Profondo: This one from Belcam takes all the notes of ADG that we love and gives it a...well...blue smell! It smells fresher, more vibrant than the original ADG. I have gotten many compliments on this one. Again though, it doesn't last for too long. Maybe an hour to an hour and a half max. Great price! A strong clone of ADG Profondo. 8/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Belcam Volatile - Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb: This thing succeeds in being a spicebomb-esque clone. It is incredibly spicy, and called volatile for a reason. That being said, it's a lovely fragrance, for a super affordable price, you can't go wrong with this one. Lasting an hour or so before becoming skin scent, it's one of my favorites from this house. 7.5/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Club de Nuit Sillage - Creed Silver Mountain Water: So intriguing. I've never seen someone capture the smells of both metallic twang and freshwater nature green in the same scent. A good price, from a good house, and well worth a try. 7.5/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Creed Virgin Island water: Opens very tropical, lemony with a coconut oil background, it's not as straight coconut as I expected, and has a much appreciated twist of citrus. It quickly dies down into a lemony coconut. I can still faintly smell this on myself as a skin scent like 12 hours later. Not bad. Pretty good as a summer fragrance. Gives me "out of the shower" lotion vibes. 7/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Time will tell...
Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue: Didn't realize the original light blue wasn't unisex lol so I ended up trying the women's version. It opens with a ton of citrus, lemon, and then it gave me lemondrops, it kind of got more candy like. After a few minutes on it's settled into a solid lemon citrus where I expect it to remain. 6/10 Would I wear it again: No Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Not for me. Too linear and citrus sweet.
English Laundry's Tahitian Waters: Picked this up for $4 at Marshall's on discount, an absolute steal I could not pass up. It has a bottle that captivates me for some reason, chrome at some angles, nearly see through at others. It has a faint alcohol smell to it, but it's not a big deal. I definitely get citrus, and some have described the dry down as musk with baked cookies. Overall very tropical, and super refreshing! It's downfall is weak performance, gone within the hour almost. Fairly strong sillage, many people being able to smell it on me after application from a few feet away! Likeable, and a nice summer frag. 7.5/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it! If you can get it on the cheap, it's a nice addition to any lineup.
Guerlain Angelique Noir: On first spray you're hit with the most pleasant authentic vanilla bean you've ever smelled. There's a bit of a woody musk background, but this leaves in around an hour for me where only pure sweet vanilla remains. It's a very premium, rich, seductive scent of intense vanilla. 7.5/10 Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: No. It's way overpriced for what it is. It's good, but not THAT good. I don't think I'll look beyond my little sample for this one.
Hermes H24: A very woody/green fragrance, it's herbal at it's...almost finest? It smells like boiled peanuts up close to me, not in a bad way necessarily, but also not in a good way. This may be due to the floral notes similar to that of peanut oil or something. Either way, it's a decent pick for the price, projection is just ok, lasted on me for 4 hours before becoming skin scent.... nothing too special, but it smells different which is always nice. Just didn't wow me. 6.5/10. Would I wear it again: Eh. Yeah I guess. Would I want to smell it on someone else: Not really, it's not bad I just wouldn't seek it out. Would I buy the full bottle: Probably not. It's just not for me.
Kilian Angel's Share: I'm in love. This is what love is. I thought I loved cooking. I thought I loved puppies. I thought I loved my parents. No. I love Kilian Angel's Share. This is my top fall fragrance, #1 for clubbing, #1 for evocativeness, #1 for NOSTALGIA. This has personal meaning for me, but when I was younger, sometimes my parents would make desserts for us, and one of my favorites was apple pie. They made it with cinnamon and the most delicious syrupy sweet apples and perfectly crisp crust. This fragrance takes me back to those times. Some insist there is no apple note and that what I'm smelling is just the cinnamon, perhaps this is true, but I die on the hill that this fragrance smells exactly like vanilla, cognac, and homemade cinnamon apple pie :) Its expensive, but in my opinion, you can't put a price on memories and emotions, and that's what this fragrance brings to me. I recently got a good deal on a full bottle, thank you to the user that helped me go back to when I was 8 years old with just a single spray. 9/10, price is a hold up if you're looking at retail. Would I wear it again: Always Would I want to smell it on someone else: I would pass away or propose on the spot Would I buy the full bottle: Never discontinue this Kilian.
Lattafa Asad - Dior Sauvage Elixir: I hate the original sauvage. It offends my nose in so many ways, and I'm not a fan. This however, as a clone of elixir, with it's stronger emphasis on spice and "christmastime" succeeds in taking the little that is good from the original Sauvage and makes it delicious. A very good winter fragrance, at a very good price, with decent performance of 3-4 hours. 8/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Lattafa Fakhar - YSL Y: I've never owned YSL Y, so I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but I love this one so much. It's such a good fresh scent to spray on, I've gotten many compliments on it, it's price is great, it has good projection, pretty sweet though so if that's not your thing...The performance is nothing to write home about, lasting 3.5 hours max. Blind buy safe for sure. Edit: Everyone claims this is a YSL Y clone, but I got a sample of Valentino Uomo Born in Roma and the two smell very similar. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced this. 7/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Lattafa Khamrah - Kilian Angels Share: My first boozy cologne, and a blind buy, I was a little worried. I've heard this takes ideas from Angel's Share but perhaps leans towards its own scent profile. Either way, I like Khamrah. It gives a lot of clubbing vibes, and it is a very thick scent, so I'm careful how I spray this one. Great performance, average pricing, interesting packaging. A good cologne to round out your scent profiles in your collection if you are yet to partake in a boozy one. Very sweet. Fragrantica describes it's notes as boozy/balsamic, and I agree. Edit: Got an Angel's Share sample, the two are not particularly alike. The boozy apple smell is very prominent in Angels Share, and I almost smell alcoholic apple pie. I prefer Angels Share in terms of just scent profile. 7/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Maison Alhambra Bright Peach - TF Bitter Peach: Assaults my nose. I used to hate this fragrance, after using it a couple times, I now just dislike it. Both parents and siblings disliked. Woman friend disliked. It's just too sickly thick in my opinion. Maybe I need more time. 4/10. Edit, I've now worn it a few more times, it's been a week, and I even voluntarily reached for it today. I still found it very cloying, but after about an hour it calmed down and even netted a compliment from a friend! 6/10. Second edit: I got an authentic sample of Bitter peach, the two are close (maybe 80% similar) but the Alhambra is much less light and much more cloying 6.5/10. Would I wear it again: It keeps getting better so yes. Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Maison Alhambra Kismet Angel: Starts off like 85% angels share, it lacks the boozy note that fills the air on first spray. However in the dry down it becomes more like 93% similarities, as the cinnamon intensifies just like AS. Projection is good, about equivalent performance with Angels Share. An hour later I'm amending that, worse performance than AS, it's not quite as potent. Can definitely over spray a bit on this one, I went for three sprays, two wrist one neck. For its lifetime on me it remained as an "Almost Angel's Share". I would buy this. 8.5/10 Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Yes
Maison Alhambra Rose Petals - TF Rose Prick: Bought this for mother. It's definitely rose, and definitely floral. It has powdery notes, and does have some amber going on. I think it's a good scent, just not for either of us when we tried it on. Would like it on an SO. 6/10, pretty linear. Would I wear it again: No Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Maison Alhambra Toscano Leather - TF Tuscan Leather: Disclosure I've never smelled the original. This is probably the most I've seen people split on a fragrance. Every guy I've spoken to loves this, it feels very masculine with notes of leather, oil, and tobacco/cigarettes. Every woman I've spoken to hated it. I'm big on this one, I love the smell of leather and this captures it perfectly. Performance is pretty good, lasting about 4-5 hours before fading to a lasting skin scent. 7.5/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it
Maison Margiela Replica Coffee Break: I've so far owned two official samples and one traveler of this stuff, and it's one of my favorites from the Replica series. It has a vanilla latte thing going on. Definitely coffee in the opener, and becomes that vanilla latte maybe 50 minutes to an hour after the initial spray on. Very strong performer! 6 hours later I can still smell it easily as a skin scent, for around 3 hours I could easily smell it in the air around me. Garnered two compliments in the same day, truly a lovely scent. Fall leaning I would say, it's fairly sweet. 7.8/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Yes...once I work my way through all that I have currently I probably will.
Maison Margiela Replica Matcha Meditation: Opening thoughts - This fragrance makes me feel something. It's not the best smelling ever, but man I feel good wearing it. It's floral, I get green tea, matcha, and mochi with chocolate or vanilla ice cream. It feels light to me, and airy upon first spray. I don't anticipate this as a scent that will garner lots of compliments, but I am happy wearing this. 30 minutes later thoughts - Scent has calmed down a bit, for a moment it was fairly strong, now it is much more linear, I'm getting mainly vanilla, with some very green herbal background. 1-2 hours - scent has begun fading to a skin scent, still vanilla and herbal. 7/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Maybe
Memo French Leather: Opens floral with a very subtle leather undertone. Immediately in the dry down I begin to get more of a premium leather smell. Leather and rose, but the rose is more dominant and primary than the leather in this one. Matures nicely, and last around 8 hours on me. 7.5/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Maybe
Nautica Voyage: No perfume has ever given me such instant gratification in the summertime as Voyage. It beats ADG Original and Profondo/Profumo soundly in my opinion. I get tons of melon in the opening, and it remains fairly linear. For a reliable, dependable, affordable (very) fragrance, this is a winner in my book, I've even used it as a pillow spray. It lasted a few hours before I had to reapply, but again it's so cheap it's no big deal. I get compliments every time I wear it. It's very versatile and my favorite application time is right out of a hot shower. 9/10. Best time to wear: Spring/Summer Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Already did. Yes. All day long.
PDM Layton: Feels like a cross between 85% JPG and 15% Spicebomb. Is a very nice warm vanilla with some woody spice going on in the background. I didn't feel it was worth the hype, but I wore it during the summer, so wintertime I may feel different. Had pretty good performance! I could smell it on me easily for a couple hours after I had applied just in the air, it only lasted about 5 hours before fading to a skin scent for me with around 3.5 sprays. 7/10, because it didn't stand out to me for the pricetag it's associated with. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Probably not. There's no shortage of good winter frags out there, I just don't think I would reach for this enough for the money.
Tom Ford Lost Cherry: Boozy cherries with...almond I think? Feels more feminine leaning, but also I don't care because this one ranks high for me on my list. It smells VERY intoxicating, and the cherry is unique, with the booziness adding a hint of seductiveness. Fairly linear scent that lasted maybe a few hours on me, nothing special there, but the notes are to die for. A very good one for layering as well! I'm a fan of this one from Mr. Ford, with points off for performance and price point issues - 8/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: If my wallet permits, at least a partial.
Tom Ford Soleil Neige: Makes me feel warm and fresh. A little powder, a little floral. Dry down gives me tons of floral vanilla. Unisex but in my opinion leans more feminine. Has netted a few compliments. 8/10 Best time to wear: Spring/Summer Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Maybe
Qaed Al Fursan: Pineapple for sure, smells very appealing, synthetic and powdery when smelled very close for first few seconds after spray. Does not last long at all. Maybe like an hour max. Over spray for sure. Magnetic cap is a nice touch! Price is competitive to say the least. A very nice mixer to CDNIM EDP. 6/10. Update: I am bumping the rating of this cologne to 7. After letting it macerate, the performance improved about an hour, the scent became less synthetic in the dry down, and the powdery bit was less pronounced. People in my family have RAVED about the smell of this one. I went into this thinking it was somehow an Aventus clone or something, and I wasn't letting it just be its own thing. As a fruity pineapple that I find to be absolutely seductive, I can't recommend this one enough. However, it's scent profile is very linear, so keep that in mind, but you can always be confident in how consistent it is. 8/10. Would I wear it again: Yes Would I want to smell it on someone else: Yes Would I buy the full bottle: Have it

2023.06.06 18:01 Region-Formal The make-up of BBBY's Top 30 Unsecured Creditors list provides grounds for optimism for current shareholders

0. Preface

In my post a couple of weeks ago, assessing the likelihood of current shareholders coming away profitable in the end, I noted that Holly Etlin's Docket 10 filing to the bankruptcy court stated that the company has around $800 million in secured creditors (JP Morgan, Sixth Street etc.) and $1 billion in unsecured creditors (mainly bond holders) to pay off. That too is only the funded debt; the [aggregate debt situation] is even worse:
The company estimated it had assets of $4.4 billion and total debt of $5.2 billion as of late November, and the number of creditors is between 25,001 and 50,000, with BNY Mellon having the biggest unsecured claim of $1.18 billion. BNY Mellon is a trustee on three senior debt issues, according to a spokesperson for the firm.
Before any value can be returned to the current shareholders by a successful exit from Chapter 11, secured and then unsecured creditors must first be satisfied. That is a very simple fact, and the notion that a sale of any kind of the company is bullish for current shareholders is simply incorrect and misguided. If current equity holders are to receive anything, and not have their investments wiped away, then a prospective buyer would need to cover BBBY's debt obligations to secured and unsecured creditors.

1. Who Are Unsecured Creditors?

The hierarchy of this is that it is firstly the secured creditors who must be paid out. In BBBY's case these are primarily the Wall Street financial institutions JP Morgan and Sixth Street, who have provided loans to basically keep the company operating. As these are fairly straightforward debt obligations, I think a buyer would simply need to pay them off in cash, as part of a successful Chapter 11 restructuring.
But after that come the unsecured creditors, and I believe how a prospective buyer pays these entities off could have a greater impact on whether shareholders can receive anything. If the buyer can negotiate in a savvy fashion with the unsecured creditors, there could be an opportunity to reduce how much of their debts need to be paid off. Additionally the method of payment could become important, as some form of equities-for-debt could mean the launching of new securities, of which current shareholders could receive some portion.
Hence the negotiations with these unsecured creditors could become extremely important for a successful deal to be formulated. Meaning that who these unsecured creditors are, and what they might be satisfied with, is a potentially critical factor. Below are the typical types of unsecured creditors that most publicly traded companies have:
Bondholders: Bondholders are individuals or institutional investors who have purchased corporate bonds issued by the company. These bonds are unsecured and represent debt owed by the company.
Debenture Holders: Similar to bondholders, debenture holders hold unsecured debt instruments issued by the company known as debentures.
Noteholders: Noteholders hold unsecured promissory notes issued by the company, representing debt obligations.
Unsecured Loan Providers: Individuals or financial institutions that have provided unsecured loans to the company.
Trade Creditors: These are suppliers or vendors who have provided goods or services on credit to the company.
Employees: Unpaid wages, benefits, or pensions owed to employees can also make them unsecured creditors.
Leaseholders: Companies may have leased properties or equipment from landlords or lessors, making them unsecured creditors if rental payments are outstanding.

2. BBBY's Main Unsecured Creditors

3. Unsecured Creditor Categories

Here I am putting these 30 firms into categories, based on my personal assessment of what type of firm they are and/or what kind of relationship they most likely have with BBBY:

Financal Services providers to BBBY
BNY MELLON

Business Services providers to BBBY
BLUE YONDER INC
BRIDGETREE LLC
CITRUS AD INTERNATIONAL INC
COMMISSION JUNCTION INC
FACEBOOK INC (META PLATFORMS)
F 3 METALWORX INC
FEDERAL HEATH SIGN COMPANY LLC
FEDEX
GRANITE TELECOMMUNICATIONS LLC
IDX CORPORATION
INTERSOFT DATA LABS INC
KDM P.O.P. SOLUTIONS GROUP
KEPLER GROUP LLC
MADIX INC
NORTH AMERICAN CORPORATION
PINTEREST INC
VERIZON BUSINESS NETWORK

Suppliers of products sold at BBBY stores
ARTSANA USA INC
KEECO LLC
KEURIG GREEN MOUNTAIN INC
LENOX CORPORATION
NATIONAL TREE COMPANY
PERSONALIZATIONMALL
SHARKNINJA SALES COMPANY
TEMPUR‐PEDIC
TESTRITE PRODUCTS CORP.
THE KNOT WORLDWIDE INC
WILLIAM CARTER CO.

What I was concerned about before carrying out this research was whether most of BBBY's unsecured creditors are financial services firms. We know for sure that BNY Mellon is the largest of the bond holder, being the trustee of the senior notes. However not a single one of the other 29 firms on this list are other financial services providers. Of course no guarantees, but I believe this significantly reduces the risk of bad Wall Street actors being able to "sabotage" potential negotiations between a prospective buyer of BBBY and the collective secured creditors.
In fact, the vast majority of these large secured creditors appear to be Trade Creditors, and I believe that is a very encouraging sign. For these companies, there is no advantage at all in BBBY winding down its operations, as that would mean a loss of longer term income for them. Looking at the products and services these companies provide, they either receive revenue from BBBY for business services, or have their products sold through BBBY's bricks-and-mortar and/or online stores. So for BBBY to wind down completely would not be in these secured creditors' best interests at all, as they would simply be losing a long-term revenue source.

4. The Ultimate Deal

As such, I believe there is a good chance that a prospective buyer can significantly reduce the secured debt obligations currently on BBBY's books, as part of a successful acquisition of the company. Except for BNY Mellon, all the other major unsecured creditors appear to be BBBY's suppliers and long-term business partners. I would think that the short-term gain of recovering their current debts is less beneficial to these companies, if compared to continuing to supply their products and services to BBBY and/or its successor entities.
So what kind of deal could take place? This could take many forms, but an attractive one for these unsecured creditors could be a swapping of debt for newly issued securities. Those could be of a new ticker representing BBBY's post-Chapter 11 business, or of a spin-off such as BABY, or even more attractively, both. This third option would mean that far from their relationship with BBBY ending in disappointing fashion, they can instead recoup their unsecured credit, receive equity and part-ownership in one or more new companies, AND can provide products and services to these firms.
Such a scenario would also be extremely beneficial for current BBBY shareholders as well. If the buyer's requirements for paying off BBBY's debts are reduced, then a higher chance there is enough left over from their acquisition offer to return to us equity holders. I am also inclined to think that the type of offer is more likely to include their own stock, given such an equity-for-debt offer could be more attractive to Trade Creditors. As I have pointed out in numerous past DDs, I believe such an acquisition - either in the form of an All-Stock or Combined Stock/Cash deal - has the greatest likelihood of triggering a Short Squeeze.
So it is fair to say that I am really quite encouraged by the make-up of BBBY's top 30 unsecured creditors list...!

2023.06.06 16:51 Duck_hen Worried about future

As I’ve been more and more open/vocal about my hatred for dogs and desire to never have more dogs in the future, I’ve never felt better. I’ve been a lifelong people pleaser and I’m finally recovering from that and learning to say no and not feel guilty or selfish for actually doing what makes me happy or feel safe.
Anyway, over the weekend we visited the in-laws and they are major dog nuts (like, smil wearing a dog mom hat, shirt with hearts and paws on it etc.) They have three indoor french Bulldogs and THE SMELL. I felt nauseated the whole time and don’t think I took a full inhale while indoors the whole time. We had our baby there for the first time and I was so paranoid, one of the dogs kept staring at him all whale eyed which of course they think was cute and adorable. The irony of smil saying diapers smell worse than dog farts (as I’m shallowly breathing the whole time because the house smells like hot dog shit and Fritos) and acting all giddy because her whale eyed dog is “jealous” that she’s giving attention to an actual human baby.
Dont get me wrong, they’re nice enough people and very warm and welcoming etc but I just can’t with the dogs, and the longer I go with living away from them the less tolerance I have. Like, I have no nose blindness whatsoever and physically can’t understand how they tolerate the smell and filth everywhere from the paws. They had also recently installed even more dog doors so the dogs have totally free reign over all parts of the house and just track mud and shit from outside to inside even more now.
As soon as we arrived they were laughing about how right before we got there smil had to remake our guest bed because one of the dogs pissed on it. And then they were just casually laughing about how whenever the dogs get mad at them (????) they piss on the beds like WHO TF LIVES LIKE THIS. I CANT. And this is the bed I’m supposed to sleep on rn I would be horrified and embarrassed to tell a guest that an animal just pissed all over their bed much less that this is an ongoing recurring behavior and I still choose to keep these disgusting creatures IN MY HOUSE PISSING ON MY BEDS. I don’t believe even medieval peasants would live like this Wtf. We have developed hygiene and modern medicine and yet choose to let these filthy creatures create unhygienic conditions worse than third world countries (I’m half arab and have been to poor and war ravaged areas and they were 100x more clean than this).
Anyway on to my main concern. My partner grew up like this and before we lived together in our house he had a dog he slept with and etc. I love him more than anything and so far he’s been ok with not having a dog but he still loves dogs and sometimes mentions getting one someday and says he knows I love him enough that if he got a dog I would allow it. But I really think it would cause so much conflict that it could potentially be a dealbreaker.
Has anyone actually lost a great partner because they got a dog even after knowing that the other one hates them and didn’t have one for most of the relationship? I don’t even understand what the benefit of a dog is. We have kids. We can go anywhere we want without worrying about a dog. He keeps saying a dog is like the one thing we don’t have that makes a “true American family” or something. Like our sons need a dog to have the idyllic childhood.

2023.06.06 15:37 Character-Season-935 3 Month Old Puppy Sleeping Through Night

Hi there,
Backstory: I have a 3-month-old French bulldog puppy. He is very good in the crate. He instantly goes to sleep or quietly plays with the chew toys in his crate. He's only ever had maybe 2 accidents in the crate ever, and they were at the start of crate training.
I am writing this because at first I was setting an alarm and waking up every 3-4 hours in the night to let him go pee outside. However, several (many) times I've overslept and he's not peed in the crate and doesn't seem to be in any sort of distress.
I've Googled and there seems to be conflicting information about this. Some posts say that if the dog can sleep the night not to make them go potty because you'll be training them to need to pee in the middle of the night. Other posts say that dogs can't hold their pee that long.
I don't want to condition him to need to pee in the middle of the night, but I also don't want to put undue stress on his bladder. Do any of you have insight into this?
Thanks!
