2023.05.30 23:52 BarbLovesYou BUG Sultai deck help
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5629675#online Ok so bear with me there's alot going on here. I started grinding leagues with this deck Friday and have been having a blast (does anyone else find the more you lose with a deck the more determined you are to make it work?) I'll be real friends the archetype of BUG shadow is definitely not even in the top 5 midrange decks you could be playing right now. But I like it because it has an old-school modern feel to it (meaning it's kinda inefficient but boy do you make alot of decisions to 1-2 every match) first off I'll address the nonexistent playsets of the creature base. This is a new change I'm exploring and the thought process is when you have access to 8 creature tutors and are often using your tutors to get shadow and goyf anyway you don't need 4 copies of either. Another thing I have moved away from recently is playing 4 street Wraith and 4 Bauble. Bauble is kinda terrible in a mostly sorcery speed deck without DRC. And consider is much better at card selection and also enables delirium. Many games have I top decked Bauble to draw a threat I can't play because it's not my turn. Or a thoughtseize I much prefer paying the one for consider up front for the selection and immediacy. Ledger Shredder is a new addition. Sometimes multiple tutors is good and sometimes it's just really inefficient so looting is useful. And flying is really good right now because there are alot of flyers in the meta. I also started out with 3 dressdowns. The combo doesn't come together enough and when it does 13 damage often isn't enough in an archetype with zero good burn spells. After playing around 8 leagues with the deck I felt it was lacking in card advantage so I'm trying 2 Night's Whisper 1 painful Truths. I'm playing a split because Whisper is more efficient but Truths is more value. I think 2 Infernal Grasp is 1 to many and have a few ideas of what to play instead. [[Drown on the loch]] [[scavenging ooze]] or [[vohar, vodalian desecrator]] I'm looking at these cards specifically to interact with direct damage. Drown counters burn and is probably the most versatile answer you could be playing in this deck. I have played versions fluctuating between 1-2 copies it's a fantastic card and will definitely counter burn spells and destroy small bois threating your life total. Scooze may just be my 2016 modern brain speaking to me. It's really inefficient all around but it's scooze guys! It's the Bob Dylan of magic cards (I will not explain myself). I have never seen anyone play Vohar but all the text on the card really speaks to me. Hear me out guys it's pretty much a Jace, Vryn's Prodigy that gains life (don't think about that comparison too much) ultimately the correct decision is most likely Drown but I'd like to try Vohar for a league. Now for the sideboard. Rankle is for the grindy matchups baby. It's nice to have a threat with haste to tutor in a number of matchups but it's mostly for the elemental matchup. Edicts are pretty good against a curve of creatures that starts at three. The discard is relevant alot and he's a really cool guy when you get to know him. Collective Brutality may just be my 2016 modern brain (or was eldrich Moon 2017?) But it's versatile maybe 2 duress 1 countersquall would be better (I just had the idea as I'm typing and it seems pretty good). But, guys, there was a time where one Brutality against burn was ggs. But I do think it's time in the sun has passed. Herbology instructor has yet to come up but it's for burn and prowess. Anyway I hope you find the deck mildly interesting I do plan on grinding it to a 5-0 then moving on. I think that's achievable it feels alot better than some of the other jank I've 5-0ed with; it's all about persistence. Thanks for reading if you managed to get all the way through I appreciate any feedback. Have a nice day!

2023.05.30 23:51 dominikuu Epoch (TLT Remix)
I have went through a theory from a few years back and I have decided to make one of my own inspired from the previous. (Basing off the music video)
Act 1: A brown bear at the beginning of video a bear is shown laying on the ground with a red flower on hand (this will be important later) and maybe a scar? (I am unsure about this piece of evidence as of now). Near the 10 second mark he starts walking out of the snow marked forest with the flower still in hand.
Act 2: At the time mark 0:28 we are shown a sign that says āhere live happily mom dad and little timmyā with a depiction of two white cats and one black. In the background there is the same cats sitting down with blue flowers grown in front of the residence. The child is holding the same colored flower as our protagonist.
Act 3: After that the bear is walking in a field of brightly colored yellow flowers with bits of red sprinkled around (could be a reference to the inverted color scheme of the flower). The bear walks through a graveyard with some different bouquets but the same flowers. A yellow bird follows along in two scenes before disappearing (yellow is a frequent color for an apparent reason).
Act 4: The bear is strutting through a swamp full of frogs and multiple lily pads, then transition to both being nonexistent leaving just the pedals. At 1:37 a pile of red flowers on a single leaf pad is shown (could be a sign or a memorial of some sorts).
Act 5: Time mark 2:05 the word āBelieveā is spoken over a few times while a white bear who looks exactly like the said called protagonist spins around his head. One of the pictures show the white bear holding a multiple flowers.
Act 6: Now we cut to a town 2:06 where a white bunny is shown this time on posters which say āWe demand for the killer to come forward!ā and āWe demand justice!ā (The same flowers the bear are holding are the same ones under the posters). Citizens of the town are looking out their windows while he keeps walking down, then a cut is shown when the expressions cut from shocked to agitated. At this point (2:45) we assume heās going to report something (murder or otherwise).
Final Act: We get a mugshot of our protagonist frowning and the flower still in his hands. The final scene shows us a black rabbit, the bear and an alligator. It seems like the rabbit is clearly the dad from the first act 2.
Summary: I donāt know if I classified the animals correctly, but I definitely got most of the evidence right. I think the story is clear, they either wanted to turn themselves in or give a story to law enforcement. Clearly the bad ending was given.

2023.05.30 23:50 Rexj123 I used ChatGPT to write a rebuttal to the open letter
"The AI Fear Factory: Unmasking the Techno-Aristocrats' Bid for Control"
In the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI), a cabal of techno-aristocrats has recently released a terse statement, solemnly warning us about the severe risks of advanced AI. Among the signatories of this statement, you'll find some of the very people who are at the helm of building AI. The foxes are warning us about the henhouse, folks, and we'd do well to remember the adage about hens and foxes.
What they're essentially saying, beneath the cloak of concern, is this: they want to be the ones controlling AI. It's a slick move, reminiscent of old banking days when the incumbent banks got to decide if an area had 'sufficient banking' before a new one could set up shop. It's the 21st-century remix of crony capitalism.
Take OpenAI, for instance. They've been talking up a storm about the need for coordination, oversight, and an international authority to ensure the safety of superintelligence. Sounds reasonable? Look closer. Underneath the safety spiel, they're advocating for a system that effectively gives them and their ilk the keys to the kingdom of AI. That's not progress; that's a power grab.
Let's bring some perspective back into this conversation. AI is a tool, an extraordinarily powerful tool, yes, but a tool nonetheless. It's meant to assist us, to simplify our lives, and to tackle problems that are currently out of our reach. As Andrew Ng, a voice of reason in this debate, has pointed out, if we want to combat existential threats like pandemics or climate change, we need AI to accelerate, not slow down.
Then there's Yann LeCun, a veteran in the field of AI, who's not shy about challenging the cult of AI doom. He reminds us that the AI alignment problem has been ridiculously overblown and our capacity to address it widely underestimated. It's a refreshing take in a discussion that's too often drenched in doom and gloom.
This is where the open-source community comes in. Contrary to OpenAI's faux nod to open-source projects, they only support such initiatives as long as they never reach a "significant capability threshold" that could potentially compete with their technology. They might claim to value open-source, but their stance is the antithesis of what open-source stands for. It's not about fostering collaboration or innovation; it's about preserving their regulated monopoly.
The future of AI shouldn't be a castle guarded by self-appointed gatekeepers. It should be an open field, shaped by the collective wisdom and efforts of a diverse community of developers, researchers, and users. Only through such inclusivity can we truly tap into the potential of AI and ensure its ethical and responsible use.
So, let's refuse to buy into the fear factory. Let's remember that AI is a tool, and like any tool, its effectiveness depends on the hands that wield it. Let's push AI forward, not hold it back. Let's champion the spirit of the open-source community, not stifle it. Above all, let's ensure that the future of AI remains open, inclusive, and free from monopolistic control. Because the only real risk here is the risk of stifling innovation in the name of fear and control.
As we forge ahead, let's bear in mind that our ability to navigate the future of AI will depend not on fear, but on courage, creativity, and a commitment to open dialogue and development. Let's cast aside the techno-aristocratic scare tactics and return to the real task at hand: harnessing the power of AI to create a better future for all of us. Because, at the end of the day, isn't that what progress is all about?

2023.05.30 23:47 JamesK1220 I understand bear safety on the trail, but what about in camp?
Me and my buddy are doing a cross country road trip in the US starting next week and Iāve been studying up on bear safety a lot since weāll be in grizzly territory for at least part of our trip (Montana is the main spot Iām āworriedā about)
For on the trail, we have bear spray and both watched a lecture from a biologist with an expertise in bear behavior on what to do in a bear encounter to prevent an attack and how to avoid encounters entirely. We both have bear spray as well.
Does anyone have any advice however on what to do OFF the trail? Obviously weāll end hiking for the day at some point and set up camp, in the same territory. I know the obvious things, such as set up the 100 yard bear triangle, donāt sleep in clothes you cooked in, and donāt go to the bathroom near your sleeping area, but what else is there?
Where do we put our backpacks at night? While our food and smellables will in theory be 100 yards away in a canister, our backpacks CARRY that food and those smellables, so should we keep our backpacks WITH our bear canister? What is the proper procedure if a bear finds it way into our campsite at night? Sometimes, a trails terrain may make it very difficult to set up that 100 yard triangle without difficulty (I.e very steep terrain with only small and infrequent flat areas for camping)⦠what do we do when properly setting up this triangle is hard or seemingly āimpossibleā? Any other advice that we should know prior to starting?

2023.05.30 23:47 Tdshimo Wanted to share another thing I made with Fusion 360: 1:5 scale model of wheel and brake assembly, mounted on a carbon fiber stand.
2023.05.30 23:46 thismock Why canāt I find a parts diagram / schematic for my Bertazzoni dishwasher (DW24PR)?
Iāve fixed many appliances in my life, and it has (until now) never been difficult to find an exploded parts diagram for any major appliance. These diagrams are super helpful for finding part numbers and any minor doodads needed to replace something major (clamps, seals, etc.)
My Bertazzoni dishwasher is making a horrific whistling noise during the wash cycle. Iāve ruled out the inlet valve, the entire drain assembly and sump pump, and spray arms. At this point pretty much the only thing I think it could be is the circulating pump (maybe a bearing is failing?)
Anyway, I canāt find a parts diagram from this appliance anywhere. No service manual. Nothing. Is there something special about Bertazzoni where they deliberately restrict info about their appliances?
On applianceparts.com I can see that DW24PR parts each have a Schematic Location number, but I canāt find a reference image for the schematic anywhere.

2023.05.30 23:42 Tim_DaToolmanFailure Should I remove the lower roofline on my shed dormer roof?
I had a contractor over to look at replacing some windows and they asked me why we don't remove the lower roofline. He seemed genuinely concerned and said "that's what I would do if it were my house." His arguments were:
- There isn't going to be any insulation behind the soffit which would lead to a cold bar across the whole interior wall
- It's going to be an entry point for water and rot
- It limits the depth of the windows we could put in that wall
- There is nothing structural about it, it's just decoration and looks bad anyway
Pictures of roofline in question:
https://imgur.com/a/THm78ua This is my first house, I've lived here less than a year, and I don't know anything about roofs. I actually had to google soffit after he left to figure out what he was talking about. How should I go about assessing whether this is a good idea for the long term maintenance of the house or a waste of time and money. I am replacing the old wooden window in that wall (one on the top left) and it would be nice to have something deeper, but not if it's going to be a major expense and cause me to tear half my house apart.
If I did decide to get this done would I need to hire a carpenter, or a general contractor? What is the scope of work I'd be looking at here. He was only a window guy so couldn't give me too much advice on that. Is this something I would need to pull a permit for if the work is not changing anything structural?
Seeking any advice from anyone who has dealt with anything similar.
Thanks!
Ps. I live in Canada in the maritimes if that has any bearing on the decision

2023.05.30 23:42 WesternComicStrip Iām done
Iām so fucking done.
Been with him for 13 years. We have 3 kids and over the years he has grown distant, even spitefull towards me and our oldest child.
My plan was to book sessions with a couples therapist and invite him to come along. Either we could salvage the relationship together or my path would come clear to me.
But tonight I realized - there is no relationship.
The straw that broke the camels back was his reply, when I asked when he thought we should wake up our daughter for her birthday tomorrow? āFigure it put yourself, for Christs sake! Iām so tired of all those questionsā.
Iād been picking the kids up from school, groceries, making dinner, clearing the table, doing the dishes, baking a birthdaycake with daughter, putting 3 kids to bed, decorating her birthday table and wrapping presents.
His contribution? Eating said dinner, telling me that he disagrees with all my parenting choices, and watching Netflix!
I have no idea what I did to him, besides bearing him 3 children and doing 90 percent of the childcare and household chores. Iām a very optimistic, social person and heās become an introvert borderline hermit.
Iām currently umenployed and itās going to be so tough being a single mom of 3. But I would rather do it alone.
I recently read that you should never stay with someone who makes you feel bad about yourself. Nothing ever rang so true.

2023.05.30 23:42 joan_go Lookong for any advice on how to keep critters away from my camp
Hi folks!
Last year, a shrew made an uninvited appearance in my camp and chewed on some of my gear. Luckily, I woke up before it made any serious damage.
I've read about placing motion sensor lights, and spraying peppermint oil around your tent, shelter, car, or on your tires and engine (in you are car camping) to keep rodents far away from you. But I'm not sure if any of these would actually work.
I'm hesitant to try spraying peppermint oil around my camp because I'm afraid it will attract bears. And I'm not sold on carrying motion sensor lights to the backcountry... for car camping, yeah sure no problem, I'd give it a try....
So...any bushcraft, outdoorsy knowledge, tips or advice to keep rodents far away from my camp?
Thank you!
Ps: I always keep my food far away from my camp, or inside bins when I'm car camping.

2023.05.30 23:36 wapvalerie any advice??
i hope this is the right sub!
for some context i struggled a lot with āif so and so bad things will happenā kinds of thoughts in the past few years, but now, id say i donāt struggle with it as much anymore. however today, on my yearbook, my friend signed their name along with a random date. i asked what the date meant an they were like āummā and so i pressed further cause it was just a really random date in the future. finally they were like āthatās the day something will happen, something terribleā and i was like. pressing again, because i didnāt understand, so i was like, ā???ā and they pointed at me and it made me so insanely uncomfortable. im not open to my friends about my struggles, so thereās no way they knew (i think the ājokeā was a dumb thing to do in general, but either way).
I told them i wasnāt comfortable and they really apologized and said they didnāt know and crossed it out. i really donāt understand why they would make this sort of stupid joke to anyone, but that aside, it brought back a lot of bad thoughts and im not really sure what to do. i kind of want to rip out my signature page now because i canāt even bear to look at it, but i really donāt want to do that. i donāt want to give power to the thoughts and i donāt even want to look at the page, but i feel even worse leaving it there and i donāt want to just cover it up. i understand itās not real but i mainly donāt want to be reminded of what i went through before.
thank u all sm, any advice would be appreciated!

2023.05.30 23:32 PolyamasaurusRex 38 [M4F] Looking for friends first
Forgot to put it in my title, but Iām in Raleigh, NC. Looking for people regardless of location though.
Kitchen table poly dude looking for new friends. Not a euphemism for anything, actual friends. I'm open to it being more down the road if it makes sense, but I'm not seeking that out. I'm specifically looking for poly friends (which is why I posted here) because its a big part of my life and I'd prefer to have people who can relate, from experience, to the things that come along with that.
About me: I'm 38, brown hair, hazel eyes, not fat but not fit, on the taller side, and frequently described as a teddy bear. I'm happily married, a proud dad (with the bod and jokes to match), extrovert, and eternal hobbyist. Reading, writing, woodworking, hiking, camping, cooking, baking, board games, video games, DIY, concerts, hockey (Hurricanes), football(NCSU\Panthers), Star Wars, LOTR, Harry Potter, Doctor Who... really almost anything geeky or nerdy. My interests are varied and I like it that way. This list isn't even close to comprehensive.
I might overuse commas sometimes. Possibly, maybe, all the time. I love having chats that wander off into philosophical tangents and/or over analyzing movies and shows. I communicate via TikToks, memes, and emoji more than I should. I'm a connoisseur of terrible jokes and horrible puns and love groans and eye rolls every bit as much as laughter. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Self improvement is important to me, and I'm constantly trying to be a better person. My therapist even says I'm "well adjusted". Not that I don't make mistakes or have room for improvement, working on yourself is a process that never really stops, but I'm generally happy with the kind of person I am and proud of the work I've put in to be that way.
Ideally looking for people to form deep and lasting friendships with. I want to hear about your day, what's happening in your life, your random thoughts, and the things that bring you joy as well as having space for me to share those too. A shared sense of humor, common interests, open communication, emotional maturity, empathy, effort, and being willing to listen to each other even when we disagree are all very important to me. Someone I can nerd out with as easily as I can joke with. If you're local to the Raleigh area that's awesome, but definitely not required. Online friends are real friends too.
Other stuff if you're curious: * Neurodivergent and loving it * Overtly liberal and likely to grate on your nerves if you aren't * Sense of humor ranges from incredibly lame to super dark * Open book, you can ask me anything * Honest but not in a mean way * Agnostic but not personally spiritual * Respectful of others spiritual beliefs * Clear and direct in communication * Optimistic and positive but not naive * Talkative by nature, both in person and via chat * Does not make demands of others time * Open to emotional investment (platonic or not) but not clingy * Has kids and absolutely adores them * Sets clear boundaries and expects (and respects) the same * Empathy in abundance * Introspective and philosophical * Likes cats and dogs, has neither, but the feeling is usually mutual * Demisexual\Aceflux: I can be flirty, but I'm very slow to go further than that * Really want to emphasize this: not looking for anything NSFW * Astrology: Cancer Sun, Leo Rising, Pisces Moon * Meyers-Briggs: ENFP-A (The Campaigner) * Respects people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, relationship statuses, and ENM styles * Does not tolerate intolerance * Prefers Telegram but open to other chat apps
