York Catholic District School Board votes against flying the Pride flag in June

York Catholic District School Board votes against flying the Pride flag in June
The Pride Progress flag will not be flying next month outside the York Catholic Education Centre.
After several months of at times raucous meetings and presentations on the topic, trustees with the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) voted 6 – 4 against flying the rainbow flag outside its building in Aurora during the month of June.
“The motion, after the recorded vote, the motion is defeated,” Chair Frank Alexander said Monday night moments after the votes were tallied during the board's monthly meeting.
A few people in the packed boardroom loudly expressed their disappointment with the outcome. Alexander, who voted against the motion, ordered those individuals removed. He then called a five-minute break.
The motion, which wasn’t heard until nearly the end of the meeting, was tabled by student trustees Anthea Peta-Dragos and Jonah James. “It really is unfortunate that the voice of students was not heard by the majority of the trustees. It is extremely disheartening, but, again, we will continue to fight," James told CP24 following the meeting.
"Students are strong fighters and we will continue to be there to represent them." Peta-Dragos said she and James, who as student trustees were not able to vote on the motion, were optimistic that the vote would be in favour of flying the Pride flag.
“There’s very different opinions in the room and we were extremely hopeful that maybe we could get more votes for the flag, rather than the other” she said. Added James.
“Honestly, going into this vote we knew that it was going to be a very tight one, but were driven by what we believe in and we did have faith and you really can’t do anything without having faith,” he said, adding every other board that has voted on whether or not to fly the Pride flag also had a close vote.
“We know one day this flag will go up.”
Several trustees who shared their thoughts during the meeting on why they are against flying the Pride flag pointed to the need for the board to do more overall to support LGTBQ2S+ students all year long.
“Much more is needed to help move towards the end goal,” Trustee Michaela Barbieri said, adding this issue has divided people and she won't vote in favour of that.
“Tonight is not a matter of picking sides or who will win. It’s about our students and our community,” she said. Trustee Joseph Dimeo agreed, adding he appreciates that members of York Catholic’s LGTBQ2S+ community experience “hate, bullying and pain every day,” but ultimately said he wouldn’t support flying the pride flag as it simply “checks a box.”
Dimeo also said he’s not convinced that the Pride flag for a month will “solve all problems.”
In advance of tonight’s meeting, YCDSB warned anyone planning to attend that there would be “increased security and the police will be present to assist if needed.”
The enhanced security comes after an April meeting where those opposed to raising the pride flag began shouting in the packed boardroom. Those individuals were asked to leave, but remained in the building’s atrium and didn’t vacate until police arrived.
On Monday, the board said that a number of other steps are also being taken to ensure civility, including a requirement that those attending “sign in and produce government issued photo ID that confirms their provided information.” Attendees were also given a letter during sign-in outlining the expectations of conduct and “the consequences of not living up to them,” the board noted in a series of tweets.

2023.05.30 11:54 InnsmouthMotel Unable to access mail in flat due to estate agent error - England

Hi folks

Query about renting a property. Back in march me and my partner began renting a flat. The handover for keys by the estate agent was very unprofessional and when we got the keys and went to the flat we discovered there was no key for the letter box there. Since then we have been emailing and contacting the estate agents about fixing this issue and last week they emailed us to tell us that we had been given the key and must have lost it. This is patently not the case and its becoming an incredibly frustrating experience for us. The estate agent is telling us to contact the building management for a new key, but the management want us to pay a sky high fee for this. Do we have any legal footing for this/getting the property management or landlord to pay for this key?

2023.05.30 10:41 bbee_buzz 34f, Europe- platonic, daily chat, long term

Hi. I'm looking for someone who is positive/vital/supportive/empathetic/honest/friendly/polite.. Additional points if you are creative and/or productive.
I'm 34f, from Poland, married, 4 kids, staying at home, not working. I deal with chronic health issues (few conditions). I like to chat with people throughout the day to keep my mind from my issues and stress at home. I got many interests mostly around arts and crafts. Nowadays I focus mostly on drawing, crocheting and embroidery. But my knowledge and interests here are vast. Other than this I'm into music, singing, movies and miniseries, books, journaling and lettering, games, puzzles, cooking and baking, soon I'll be back to gardening. I just try to enjoy my life and take from it as much as I can. I got very strange working habits. I do many things and I like to keep myself productive but I need to take many breaks during working on a project. That's why chatting helps.
My days are very similar so if you are not interested in me sharing any of my projects then we won't have much to talk about. I do my duties around home and it takes much of my time, also I go out almost each day so my hobbies are like main changing part in my life.
I'm looking for someone stable, open, true, talkative, who can chat throughout the day, but especially in mornings (I got then more time). Preferably from my timezone. Nice if you got variety of interest that you want to talk about. They can be completely different. You can share with me your life, problems, thoughts, plans, dreams, etc.
Please nothing sexual because I don't have energy to deal with it and reject people all the time. I'm pretty sensitive to sexual comments especially when I feel bad. It's just disturbing for me.
Please have in mind that my energy level, the way I feel and what I do changes all the time during the day so my responses can change too. I'm vivid person but when I struggle then I shut myself down. You can feel that I'm losing interest but it's not the case.
Preferably someone over 30 and please have a bit in your profile or write more about yourself in your message. I won't respond if I'll see some disturbing NSFW content or comments in your profile. You can add some star in your first message so I'll know that you've read it.
I've posted this already in few subs on Reddit and I had different kinds of responses 😅 I've build up some resentment towards people in past months and Reddit just adds to that so bare with me and have some patience. I'll for sure notice your efforts and I'll be grateful for that. Thanks in advance.

2023.05.30 10:24 Thick_Sun2297 My mental health is going down the drain because of this job search!

Rejections after rejections after rejections. Not even a single interview. I am still a student and trying to land a first full time job before I graduate this October. I have solid internship experience (one at MBB and one at a corporate HQ of a leading supply chain firm), plenty of banking workshops, experience abroad, solid extracurriculars, I speak 4 languages, I am proficient in some programming too, I have solid grades.
What else do I need? I know it's just a part of the process and all that but not even one interview like seriously? I have made my CV to look as good as possible, I attach cover letters whenever it's necessary or a position that I really want but I just get a standard email a week after. "Due to large number of applicants ..... They match our requirements even more closely ....." BUT I LITERALLY TICK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR BOXES .... AND MORE!
This process has no logic whatsoever. It's not merit based, it's luck. You just have to be lucky is what it comes down to.
Sorry for the rant. I have started drinking because of this and I am just incredibly tired and frustrated. I spend my nights just crying and worrying about what's to come and I am not ready for it.
Have a good rest of your day and thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Checkpoint Gaming - Luke Mitchell - 8.5 / 10
Street Fighter 6 provides the fast and furious action you'd expect from the refined fighting series, offering a dynamic cast of characters, new control modes to make it more accessible, and a variety of features to keep you busy. Its story mode is a campy take on the Street Fighter universe that doesn't always land the winning blow, however; while it's filled with distractions and civilian fighters to take on, it can be a little repetitive and shallow. Still, the technical foundations that Street Fighter stands on are as solid as ever, and with a whole world to battle online, there's a lot of fighting on the menu in what is once again a polished, exciting fighting experience that will keep fans engaged for years.
Console Creatures - Patrick Tremblay - Recommended
Without a doubt, Street Fighter 6 is the best and most accessible entry in the long-running series. Anyone can jump in, and there is a lot of content to keep you busy and practicing on the road to World Champion.
Cultured Vultures - Ash Bates - 10 / 10
A sublime fighting game masterpiece from a company at the peak of their powers, Street Fighter 6 is utterly incredible.
Destructoid - Chris Moyse - 9.5 / 10
Simply put, Street Fighter 6 is one of the very best entries in series history.
Eurogamer - Wesley Yin-Poole - Recommended
Street Fighter 6 rights the wrongs of its predecessor while dragging the famous fighting game franchise kicking and screaming into the modern era.
Fextralife - Castielle - 8.4 / 10
Capcom delivers and checks the majority of the boxes when it comes to the classic and new features of Street Fighter 6. It heads down a different direction making it more casual while maintaining the core values of the game, allowing it to be a mainstream fighting game for all players. However, with its awkward performance on the PlayStation 4. The concern is, will World Tour have more content and will the performance issues be fixed. We hope these will be addressed. In the meantime, it is recommended to play Street Fighter 6 on current-gen consoles and PC to fully appreciate and enjoy this game.
GamesHub - Edmond Tran - 5 / 5
Street Fighter 6 is an exceedingly good fighting game. But more than that, it’s an excellent training tool. It’s a fulfilling adventure. It’s a lively community gathering place. It’s an endearingly idealistic and inspiring world of appreciation for martial arts and friendly competition, exceptionally executed in every respect.
GameGrin - Mike Crewe - 9.5 / 10
The most complete Street Fighter title to date, Street Fighter 6 is a must-play for fighting game fans, and one to consider even if you're not familiar with the genre. An engaging, stylish beat 'em up that could well be king of the mountain for years to come.
Game Informer - Elijah Gonzalez - 9.5 / 10
Between its cohesive aesthetic, the bounty of clever features, and crisp central gameplay, it’s one of the most impressive entries the genre has seen in some time.
GamesRadar+ - Andi Hamilton - 5 / 5
Street Fighter 6 offers the most flexible, versatile, and expressive combat seen in the series to date. With its fantastic suite of game modes and diverse character roster, Street Fighter 6 has something to offer every type of fighting game fan.
GameSpot - Jason Fanelli - 9 / 10
Capcom's flagship fighter is back in form with intricate but approachable fighting mechanics and a feature-rich package.
Gaming Nexus - Joseph Moorer - 10 / 10
Capcom has given us a complete game right out of the box. The single player experiences are enormous. The online experience is perfect. Street Fighter lore is littered in every nook and cranny of this game. There are modes and modes within modes. This is one of the best Street Fighter games in the history of the franchise. If Capcom hurt you in the past, this is their apology. Street Fighter 6 is a new classic that people will be playing for years to come.
GamingTrend - Jack Zustiak and Abdul Saad - 95 / 100
Street Fighter 6 takes the series to the next stage with a wildly fun fighting system that emphasizes personal choice. Each mainline Street Fighter tends to define its era of fighting games in some way, and Street Fighter 6 confidently steps forward to that next era. From its battle system to its bevvy of modes such as World Tour, it dives deep into everything that makes fighting games great.
GGRecon - Jack Roberts - 4.5 / 5
With a slew of fighting games on the horizon like Tekken 8 and the recently announced Mortal Kombat 1, Street Fighter 6 is leading the charge in the most vibrant way possible. With a series of character guides, story campaigns for classic characters and a fantastic open world for you to take the fight to the streets, it feels like everything I could have asked for from a modern Street Fighter entry.
Despite being the sixth game in the mainline series, Street Fighter 6 is easily one of the most accessible and makes for a fantastic entry point for newer players, while still resonating with series veterans.
Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 9.5 / 10
Street Fighter 6 could be the best fighting game I have played in a very long time. I am no master at these games and I don’t run out to buy them at launch. However, the game is very fun to play and its real draw for me was its accessibility. I felt good at it even though I really wasn’t. Of course, this is also completely optional too so if you’re a veteran, you’ll enjoy this just as much as noob.
God is a Geek - Sean Smith - 10 / 10
Street Fighter 6 is without question the best fighting game package I have ever played, and will keep you going far longer than a one-on-one fighter has any right to be able to. A true classic.
IGN - Mitchell Saltzman - 9 / 10
Street Fighter 6 is the most feature-rich a Street Fighter has ever been at launch, but even beyond that, it's roster of 18 characters is excellent, the new mechanics revitalize the one-on-one fighting formula, and it absolutely nails all of the little things that make for a stellar fighting game.
Inverse - De'Angelo Epps - 10 / 10
Capcom’s latest takes everything you’d expect from the father of the fighting genre and turns it up to 10. There’s something for everyone here, with no fat or filler to ruin the experience. Street Fighter 6 is the best fighting game experience in a long time, and in the years to come, its impact and legacy could be every bit as massive as Street Fighter 2.
Kotaku - Kenneth Shepard - Unscored
It’s a sublime fighter that makes smart changes that honor what makes the series great.
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral - 9 / 10
A far better launch experience than its predecessor, with an excellent fighting system and a wide range of options and features that transcend the usual genre traditions.
MonsterVine - Spencer Legacy - 4.5 / 5
Street Fighter 6 is a grand fighting game experience that just keeps building on the series’ strong foundation. Though the World Tour mode and new characters aren’t as stand-out as they could be, the core gameplay is excellent and there’s plenty to enjoy.
Nexus Hub - Keegan Govender - 9 / 10
Street Fighter 6 is not just a comeback for Capcom, but for fighting games entering next-generation consoles as a whole. It feels like a passion project made by a group of people who were tasked by Capcom to make the last Street Fighter we would ever want to play. With its fast-paced gameplay, beautifully implemented new mechanics, and timeless visuals, Street Fighter 6 has solidified itself among the fighting game hall of fame.
Niche Gamer - NECRO XIII - 9 / 10
Ultimately, Street Fighter 6 delivers the fun and proves to be one of the most engaging fighting games of the year and of most recent memory.
PCGamesN - Christian Vaz - 9 / 10
This is the first Street Fighter game in a long time where it feels like players of all skill levels are welcome. While World Tour mode is disappointing, the sheer scope of SF6 means you don't need to wait for the inevitable Ultra Edition before jumping in.
PC Gamer - Mollie Taylor - 89 / 100
Minor technical issues and questionable monetisation scuff what is otherwise one of the best fighting games we've seen in the last decade.
Polygon - Axel Bosso - Unscored
Street Fighter 6 is the ultimate fighting game toolbox
Press Start - James Mitchell - 9 / 10
Street Fighter 6 rights the wrongs of its past with multiple modes for every player and strong battle systems like no other. It invites new players into the fold with well implemented, simpler control schemes, without losing sight of the hardcore player. The World Tour mode won't be for everyone, but Street Fighter 6 stands tall as one of the best fighters Capcom has made.
PowerUp! - Charbel Asmar - 9 / 10
At launch, Street Fighter 6 is set to take the fighting game genre to another level
Prima Games - Matt Vatankhah - 9.5 / 10
In a sense, Street Fighter VI is the full package. It’s a three-course meal and then some, filling you up to the brim and serving you every dish on the dessert menu whether you’re ready for the check or not. It’s bursting with style, swagger, and abundant sophistication, and it’s the perfect entry for newcomers and veterans alike.
Push Square - Sammy Barker - 9 / 10
Street Fighter 6 is an absolute humdinger of a sequel. Capcom has created a fighting system that has all of the tactical depth professional players expect but managed to make it fairly easy for casuals to wrap their heads around. Not only that, it's introduced smart ways to onboard newcomers, including a simplified control scheme and a great suite of tutorials, which even extend to the impressively enjoyable RPG-inspired single player story mode. A strong roster of starting characters, near-flawless rollback netcode, and a seemingly never-ending selection of content – including interactive online lobbies with playable retro games – round out another unbelievably impressive effort from the seemingly unstoppable Japanese publisher.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored
Smooth online matches and an impressively in-depth story already put Street Fighter 6 leagues above the competition.
Shacknews - TJ Denzer - 9 / 10
All-in-all, this game rekindled my love of the franchise, and I can’t wait to see how Street Fighter 6 grows over time.
TechRaptor - Robert Scarpinito - 9 / 10
Street Fighter 6 is one of the easiest on-ramps to the deep world of fighting games, appealing to casual players and veterans alike. With a diverse roster, meaty gameplay, and flashy animations, this will be a FGC staple for years to come.
The Outerhaven Productions - 4 / 5
Street Fighter 6 takes all the mistakes made with Street Fighter V and tries to not make them again. From the one on one traditional fights that we know, have been improved thanks to the addition of the Drive Gage mechanics, to the online modes where a lot of people are going to play. There is very little that Street Fighter 6 does that people won't be happy with… Unless you live in Australia… However, the looming nickel-and-dime ride of Season Pass after Season Pass could make things worse down the line. Street Fighter 6 is an easy day-one buy for the hardcore eSports player base, but casual players might want to wait for a year or more for a more complete game before buying.
TheSixthAxis - Nick Petrasiti - 10 / 10
Street Fighter 6 doesn't need recommending to hardcore fighting fans – you all already know how incredible it is – but do I recommend it for more casual players? Street Fighter 6 has a real sense of community, welcoming all players old and new, teaching new tricks and providing something for those that just want a bit of fun. This is truly a fighting game for everyone.
Twinfinite - Keenan McCall - 5 / 5
It’s the epitome of what a fighting game should be, and I can’t wait to see how the series builds off of this return to form
VG247 - Alex Donaldson - 5 / 5
It’s a must-have. And it might just be the most compelling overall fighting game package of all time.
We Got This Covered - David James - 3 / 5
Street Fighter 6 delivers a deep, complex, and satisfying fighting game bristling with fun new characters and an excellent multiplayer mode. Unfortunately, all of that's shackled to a truly terrible single-player RPG that stands as one of the most embarrassing things Capcom has released in years. If you're here for online play, you'll love it. If you want single-player action, stay far away.
Worth Playing - Cody Medellin - 9 / 10
Street Fighter 6 succeeds in its ambition to cram some big things into one fighting game. Battle Hub may be silly, but it has a lot more personality and more to do than most other titles with their own online lobbies. Fighting Ground does a great job of showing off the new roster and improvements to the fighting engine, while placing an equal amount of attention on both offline and online players. World Tour makes for a somewhat nonsensical yet addictive adventure that can serve as a good basis for a full-fledged Street Fighter RPG. All of this is tied together with a presentation that does well in improving what came before it, only with more fidelity and flash. As stated at the beginning of this review, fighting game fans are going to have a good year, and Street Fighter 6 is an excellent component of that.
XboxEra - Nick Baker - 9 / 10
Xbox players have had to wait a long time for Street Fighter to come back to the platform, and luckily got the best iteration yet.

2023.05.30 09:31 melantali Mastering Effective Note-Taking Techniques for Optimal Classroom Learning

Note-taking is a crucial skill that plays a vital role in effective learning. It helps you capture important information, stay engaged during lectures, and aids in retaining knowledge. However, note-taking is not just about scribbling down everything the professor says. In this article, we will explore three effective techniques to enhance your note-taking abilities during class.
  1. The Cornell Method: The Cornell Method is a widely popular note-taking technique that encourages active learning and helps in organizing and reviewing information effectively.
a. Preparation: Before the lecture, divide your paper into three sections: a narrow column on the left (about 2.5 inches wide), a larger column on the right (about 6 inches wide), and a bottom section (about 2 inches high).
b. During the Lecture: Take notes in the larger right-hand column, focusing on key points, main ideas, and supporting details. Use abbreviations, symbols, and bullet points to save time and make your notes concise. In the left-hand column, write down questions, keywords, and prompts that summarize or clarify the information in the right column. Finally, after the lecture, use the bottom section to summarize the main points of the lecture in your own words.
  1. Mind Mapping: Mind mapping is a visual note-taking technique that uses diagrams and hierarchical relationships to connect concepts and ideas.
a. Start with a central topic or theme in the middle of your page and draw a circle or box around it.
b. Branch out from the central topic and create subtopics by drawing lines and smaller shapes connected to the central theme. Label each subtopic with a keyword or phrase.
c. Continue branching out and adding more subtopics, connecting related ideas with lines. Use colors, symbols, and images to enhance visualization and recall.
d. During the lecture, add relevant details, examples, and supporting information to each subtopic.
  1. The Outline Method: The outline method is a linear and structured approach to note-taking that helps organize information hierarchically.
a. Start with the main topic or heading, using Roman numerals (I, II, III) or letters (A, B, C) to denote major points.
b. Indent each subtopic or supporting idea using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3) or lowercase letters (a, b, c).
c. Use bullet points, dashes, or indentation to represent further details or examples related to each subtopic.
d. Leave enough space between each point to add additional information later during review.
Developing effective note-taking techniques is crucial for maximizing your learning potential. Experiment with different methods, such as the Cornell Method, mind mapping, and the outline method, to find the one that works best for you. Remember to stay engaged during lectures, actively listen, and review and revise your notes regularly to reinforce your understanding and retention of the material.

Street Fighter 6 is an exceptional addition to this revered series, poised to secure its longevity for years to come. With its revolutionary combat mechanics and distinctive character designs, this title promises to captivate both players and spectators alike. Moreover, the implementation of novel control systems and offline modes, such as the Word Tour, offers new players a compelling incentive to explore the game. Overall, Street Fighter 6 is a masterpiece that has undoubtedly raised the bar for the entire franchise.

2023.05.30 08:23 babynbugz 20/F penpals wanted!

Hello! I’m a 20 y/o female from Michigan, born and raised! I’ve had penpals previously, but due to moving around and life getting in the way I’ve lost contact with them. Since then I’ve given multiple shots at snail mail, but nothings ever been lasting. I’ve recently rekindled my love for penpalling and I’m hoping this time around it’ll be different though!
A bit about me- I’m a huge sucker for deeper than the surface friendships, I love to pick peoples brains and gather new perspectives on all kinds of different topics! or even just discuss our day to day lives. Besides, there’s nothing more special than receiving a hand-crafted letter, especially when I can utilize one of my love languages (gift giving!) and return the favor of putting a smile on someone’s face!
Anywho, I’ll get to the juicy bits :p some of my hobbies include (but aren’t limited to) crocheting, painting, reading, watching sci-fi/horroanime/disney movies (I’m an old soul, but forever a child at heart lol.) I enjoy baking and cooking for my boyfriend and I (recipe swaps anyone?) and putting together puzzles, working on diamond art or gundam models! I also like spending time outside, preferably at a local beach where I can find beach glass or cool rocks/fossils, or on a trail searching for funky mushrooms or bugs, I dabble a bit in photography but nothing serious, mostly just off my phone camera for my own personal enjoyment. I enjoy video games, both PC and console such as Coral Island, Red Dead Redemption 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Skyrim, Animal Crossing, Pokémon Arceus, Legend of Zelda (BOTW, not tears of the kingdom… yet) Minecraft, and more! Though I definitely have a sweet spot for board games/card games. I also like collecting stuff like crystals, stickers, stationary, and little trinkets!
I’m a couple years into my spiritual journey, but this past year I’ve really delved deeper not just into myself but my energy and connections with earth & the people around me. I also read tarot, but I’m fairly new at it hahah.
I’d consider myself a jack of all trades, thanks to my adhd I’ve adopted a ‘if I can think it, I can do it’ mentality which has been a blessing and a curse.
I don’t really have any preferences for penpals as long as you’re over 18! if you’ve made it this far, congratulations<3 I’d love to get to know you!

Hey everyone… so covid really messed me up socially if that makes sense. I use to be talkative and very friendly but having those 2 years off of school and not hanging out with anyone really changed me. I do have “friends” but tbh it all seems forced and it doesn’t feel like a friendship plus we never hangout and we rarely text. I have no siblings so I have no one to socialize with at home. So when I go out in public and someone does talk to me it’s very hard for me to keep the conversation going with out it being awkward or quite. Anyways I’m looking for male or female to have a online friendship with and maybe meet in person someday. My hobbies consist of exercising, gaming, binge watching shows going out to see sights and exploring I also just started boxing training a couple months ago and I’m hoping it gives me more confidence to go out there and talk to people. But yeah I’m hoping I can start a genuine friendship with whoever decides to respond:)

2023.05.30 07:51 CherryRantal I am Nothing

I wake up in the morning and feel nothing.
It’s like having a deadly cut. Watching your blood seep out of your body. With a doctor ten feet a way with a needle and thread. But you can’t move, chains of obligation keep you from moving, from healing.
I want to wake up in the morning and have a purpose. Something that is meaningful, and exciting. Something that is draining and difficult.
I imagine my life. Or rather, the life I want to have. I wake up in the morning and get ready. The second I walk out of the door I am being bombarded with texts and calls. People who are reliant on me, people who work for me, who look at me with respect and seek my approval.
I want to know how that I have accomplished things. That I have done something that matters. Something no one else has.
Not a police officer , or a nurse, or a fucking high school student.
I hate everyone around me.
I used to care what people thought of me. I was scared to go to the bathroom alone. Embarrassed to see my peers in Walmart if I was with my family.
But I could give less of a fuck.
My life is nothing. I am nothing.
I feel like shit everyday. Academic letter? Paper or recognition? FUCKK OFF
none of that shit matters. Do you know how many other people have the same thing?
I am NOTHING.
If I were gone nothing in the world would change. No news outlit would care. No foundation or enterprise would be effected. My mom might cry for five fucking minutes and then move on.
I like sitting in my back yard alone. I like feeling of the wind hit my face and watching my hair blow. I like drinking lemonade and eating strawberries.
They make me feel like a real human. Or how I imagine a real human is supposed to feel. Like I matter.
Everytime I look at my ID I remember that I am just a number. Another head to count. Another body in a system of labor and abuse.
I am NOTHING.
I just want to walk in a city. I want to be with my grandma. I want to smile.
I want to learn with other people who want to learn. I want to feel like anything else but a financial burden. I want to talk to people about work and make decisions that will effect millions of people.
I want to eat grapes on a hill top. I want to kiss someone on the cheek that I would die for. I want to laugh with a crowd full of people at a play in a old theater.
I want to sweat in terrible humidity. I want to walk in a street and smell some food that makes my stomach rumble.
I want. I want. I want.
I feel like I’m tied to a chair watching a timer which is my life slowly tick down.
I am screaming for independence, for experience, for inspiration and fulfillment. But instead I am given the laugh of a man who sits on a boat, paid for by the people he employed for almost nothing.
I want to change. I want to grow and learn.
But, as the clocks time passes I feel myself grow weak. That energy that once filled my body. That pushed me to go. It is nearing its end.
The constant reprimanding and insults are becoming heavy, pinning me to the floor, aka “rock bottom”
But I will not give up. I must remember what I want. What I need. The things I wish to have.
No excuses, I tell myself, right before getting on my phone for 3 hours
I know this is my own fault. I will fix it. I pinky swear. I will work hard. I will become something.
But for now.
I am nothing.

2023.05.30 07:29 marlon671 [WTS] Benchmade Bugout, Benchmade Fact, Civivi Consprator & Real Steel Metamorph

Looking to sell some knives from my collection. Spent a little too much on my RC hobby this weekend, just trying to recoup some funds.
  1. Real Steel Metamorph. (B+ condition) bought on knifeswap from original owner I believe. No box. Knife only. In really great shape. Carried but never used. I just couldn’t get along with a front flipper. Blade is centered. No play. $45
  2. Civivi Conspirator (C Condition) also bought on knife swap from original owner. Bought it as a user but too big for my line of work. Cut open a few amazon packages or what not. No heavy cutting. Some light blemish on blade. Micarta handle. Super smooth operation. No play. Blade centered. $55
  3. SOLD Benchmade Bugout. (A- condition) Has aluminum scales and glow in the dark backspaced. Awesome daily carry! Carried for a few weeks on ration with other knives. Again opened a few envelopes and amazon packages. No heavy slicing. Super sharp. No play. Blade centered. Light blemishes on blade as seen on pics. $130
  4. Benchmade Fact. (A+++ Condition) This is one of my most favorite knives in my collection. Thin. Razor sharp, lightweight but looks menacing. Never carried, never cut anything, factory edge. Carbon Fiber Scales installed. Original scales included. Super smooth operation. Blade centered. No issues. This knife is bad ass. Didn’t think I’d ever part with this but it just sits in the pelican case. This is one knife that will make me happy if it doesn’t sell. lol. I hope my price is fair. If not, I’ll take offers. I have well over $350 spent on this bad boy. $250
All prices include shipping. Shipping will be done on Saturday as my work schedule does not allow me to make it to USPS until the weekend. Thanks!

2023.05.30 07:28 edwinbarnesc GMERICA: Activists, Affiliates & The Return of Icahn - A Succession Plan To Launch TEDDY IPO (part 1)

GMERICA: Activists, Affiliates & The Return of Icahn - A Succession Plan To Launch TEDDY IPO (part 1)
This is part 2 and a continuation from this post (unable to link, see my post history for "GMERICA: SEC & BK Court Filings Reveal Carl Icahn As The Mystery Buyer & TEDDY IPO Coming") about Unitholders or should I say Unithodlers?
Disclaimer: I am not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice.

Preface: GMERICA Bull Thesis

What are units?
In part 1 (see post hx GMERICA: TEDDY IPO), I discovered how a unit may contain multiple securities combining GME and IEP and that the transaction is currently being handled by Jefferies which links all 3 companies: GME, IEP, BBBY = GMERICA.
Furthermore, I believe these units will be used in the $BBBYQ chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring for a leveraged buyout (LBO) deal involving cash and a [unit] share swap to either (1) purchase BBBY, or (2) just the subsidiary asset buybuyBABY, the crown jewel -- towards the end of this post, I will clarify what will most likely happen as a result.
Upon completion of the LBO, a carve-out of buybuyBABY will then initiate a SPAC IPO to launch TEDDY into a new public company. This is the end goal.
According to the SEC: Warrants. A SPAC IPO is often structured to offer investors a unit of securities consisting of (1) shares of common stock and (2) warrants.
Common stock and warrants are currently involved in the buyout of Bed, Bath, and Beyond and has been mentioned in the ch11 court docs. Basically, the SPAC IPO is a vehicle that will deliver the units to the buyer of BBBY.
This carve-out of buybuyBABY from BBBY will force shorts to close.
How? Shorts will be forced to deliver units (shares of $GME x $IEP x $BBBYQ) and new TEDDY shares to the shareholders at all 3 parent companies: Bed, Bath, & Beyond, GameStop, and Icahn Enterprises LP.
Moving forward, I will now refer to these future shareholders as Unithodlers or simply GMERICANs, who will become owners in the new company TEDDY in a post-SPAC IPO.
This is my bull thesis for GMERICA.
Now for the endgame play.

The King's Empire Under Siege

Carl Icahn's $IEP empire is directly under attack by shorts, MSM, and SEC investigation.
FYI- IEP is a holding company that directly controls and owns companies in 7 industries with 14 board members in other public companies.
It is a conglomerate and makes me think of the Iron Bank from the Free City of Braavos in Game of Thrones. And Icahn will have its due.
The attacks on IEP are playing out exactly as Dr. Patrick Byrne once said (credit EnvironmentalPlan870):

OSTK CEO confirms everything that is currently happening to IEP

But why are they attacking?
See part 1 (see post hx GMERICA: TEDDY IPO) and the section under "A Master Fund for Handling Units", then this next part will make sense.

The HindenNothingBurger & its Blitzkrieg Report of Destruction

A shorting-selling hedge fund named Hindenburg Research released a self-serving report on IEP claiming that the company is operating a pyramid scheme which has caused the stock price to collapse -- to All-Time 5 year lows.

IEP stock collapsed by -70% to 5 year lows
On the outset, it looks like a classic short and distort campaign but the motives are actually much more nefarious.
First, IEP is majority owned by Carl Icahn where he holds a staggering 84% stake in the company which would make one wonder - where are shorts getting shares if Icahn owns most of it?
The simplest answer: Illegal naked shorting, or selling shares in a company you don't own. It's called stealing.
Second, the real reason why shorts have laid siege to Carl Icahn's empire is out of desperation and a feeble attempt to dethrone the King. Here, this will explain, from IEP's 10Q filing:

From IEP 10Q filing, pg 48 - Depository Units & Risk Factors

TLDR; 10Q Summary
  • Carl Icahn controls the publicly traded company $IEP LP (limited partners) through a private company called IEP GP (general partner, or the controlling manager of the LP)
  • Carl has pledged 202M depository units from $IEP to get a loan worth up to $4.17B (for LBO)
  • $IEP is aware of the shorts attack on the company and have released this 'Risk Factor' notice
  • Shorts are trying to force a Margin Call on Carl's position on the loan
  • Shorts are attempting to lower the Unit share price of $IEP in hopes of triggering a Forced Liquidation and removing Carl, the controlling person as GP of $IEP
The siege began on May 2, 2023, at the same time Hindenburg's Short Report was released:

The Blitzkreig Short Report masking the Swap that has been Activated

And of course, now it looks like a swap has been setup to anchor the $BBBYQ rocket while suppressing $IEP stock price. Credit for technical chart to Charoenlai:

Shorts setup a swap on $IEP & $BBYQ, kinda like the meme stock basket of $GME vs. the world to prevent these rocket(s) from flying
Basically, Icahn knows. Pulte knows. And Cohen knows:

Ryan Cohen likes Pulte's tweet on the Shorts Strike Back (simulation confirmed)
In my first post that seeded GMERICA (see my post history for GMERICA: Whale-Financed), I wrote about Carl Icahn the OG Activist Ape aka MSM-dubbed Corporate Raider:

Icahn has a track record of success and here's what he said in a letter to shareholders of his company on June 6, 2022:
"My activist engagements have generally produced exceptional results. To elaborate, our activist activities have created close to $1 Trillion in value for all shareholders in the aggregate who’ve held or purchased stock when we did and sold stock when we did. I believe our record unquestionably proves that holding CEOs and boards accountable to shareholders manifests great results."
This man fucks and shorts are about feel it:

Carl Icahn hits back: \"He's planning something that these guys will never forget.\" -oops, MOASS
But will it be the Bull King that raids these shorts or will it be someone else?

Enter: The Prince of 69D Chess

Much focus has been on Carl Icahn but few know about his son, Brett Icahn:

The father, master strategist and the protégé son playing Chess
The image above is from an HBO documentary & movie called: The Restless Billionaire. The movie details the life of activist investor Carl Icahn and the story behind all the companies that he acquired. It truly is inspiring and I highly recommend watching.
In one scene, Carl says the following:
"I'll say this about Brett, he's much more low-key than I am. But he's one of the most obsessive characters, and he'll work very hard at something, extremely hard, especially if it means beating me at something."
The movie also reveals how Brett and Carl used to routinely play chess but stopped because Brett became too good, and kept winning against Carl.
Brett introduced Carl to tech stocks, starting with Netflix then Apple and now GMERICA (more on this below). Brett admits he received a privileged start but learned to swim on his own when Carl gave him a challenge.
Brett wanted to manage money but had to prove himself by working for free: no salary, no bonus, and no income until he could generate a 7% return, first for Carl, then Brett would get paid later.
In 2012, Carl invested into Netflix on behalf of Brett's recommendation and later in 2015 generated a return of $2.2 Billion, one of Carl's best investments. That success enabled Brett to launch his own fund and start the Sargon Portfolio.

https://fortune.com/2015/06/25/how-much-icahn-made-on-netflix/
Carl tweeted at 7:41am and Netflix did a 7 for 1 stock split. This is 741 on 741 and might just be the best Fortune I've come across.
Now, back to the SEC filings, so you can see how this Saga took form.

The Succession Plan Where Only The Young Can Ascend

Brett continued to gain success and at one point, he wanted to go independent. However, Carl made him an offer to take over the family Empire and on October 1, 2020 the succession plan began:

Succession plan initiated for Brett Icahn, the Princes of 69D Chess to take over $IEP Empire
I will TLDR summarize these filings in the next section.

Terms of the succession plan and Manager Agreement
Again, I will TLDR summarize these filings in the next section.

https://preview.redd.it/kynqdqko2y2b1.png?width=1160&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b51ca3fe21fa491a4e150ef20b04f019335f6d4

TLDR; Summary of Succession Plan & Ascension to the Throne

  • Brett Icahn enters into a Manager Agreement where he becomes the "employee" under a single-member LLC known as Isthmus and serves the "employer" $IEP LP to direct investments
  • Brett becomes the Investment Fund ("Fund") manager and controls all investments as General Partner via Icahn Capital.
  • The Funds are comprised of IEP depository units put up as collateral for loans, including other private investments or entities, and funds from Affiliate parties to IEP -- remember this part for later.
  • Simply said: there's a lot of money involved in the Billions as a massive pooled investment by private equity. This a raid party of Activist Investors that you don't wanna fuck with it.
  • Brett purchases $10M of depository units from $IEP to start his fund via Mesa & River Portfolios.
  • Icahn Capital hires 3 portfolio managers (PMs) to assist Brett, they are: Gary Hu, Andrew Teno, and Steven Miller. Each have designated roles to assist in research, analysis, and evaluating investments. These hired PMs have extensive backgrounds in finance, debt, and special or complex transactions. Additionally, the PMs graduated top of the class from Ivy league colleges and have sat on boards of companies like Xerox, Bausch + Lomb, Newell Brands -- so they know their shit.
  • The Buying Ratio sets the investment terms with a $39:1 ratio which caps out per transaction. For the "employee" Isthmus, that is $7.5M investment with a matching "employer" investment up to $292.5M for combined $300M maximum per investment transaction -- remember this for $BBBYQ later. Think of this like working for an employer and every time you contribute to a 401k, then your employer matches, except this is for investing into public companies and your company co-invests with you.
  • The succession plan requires Brett to work for free again, to prove that he is capable of generating a return for the company and he must complete the task in 7 years or less to become Chairman.
  • Brett is promoted to a director in IEP GP which is the private and controlling company to $IEP. Therefore, Brett directs how the Funds are invested on behalf of his father's empire, and/or with his father.
  • Bottomline: The Prince is in control of the Empire, its vast resources, and he must prove his worthiness to the King. Now, let the Activist Raids begin.
With a succession plan in place and structure set up, the next step was to find a target company that desperately needed saving from the abusive naked shorting hedge funds.

Activist Raiders Set Sail to GMERICA

Somewhere along the way, Ryan Cohen and Brett Icahn met. Perhaps long before the succession plan was activated:

Brett Icahn was involved in the gaming industry in 2010
Brett was a board member of Take-Two Interactive, makers of the Grand Theft Auto game franchise, so it would be safe to say that Brett knew a thing or two about the Gaming Industry and its growth-rate.
This is supported by the fact that Carl admitted he was not into tech stocks therefore Brett likely suggested Take-Two as an investment to his father, just like Netflix.
The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Robbie Ferguson of IMX tweets an infographic of 10% YoY growth-rate of Gaming
I wonder if Brett and Robbie know each other, probably.
Then there's this timeline of cohencidences too (Brett has a detailed history of involvement and familiarity with NFTs, crypto, and blockchain tech):

Unverified Brett Icahn twitter account but the timeline is interesting. Still, I kinda like this Brett, no chill on tweets and out there blasting everyone.
P.S. someone had to take that photo of Ryan Cohen and Carl Icahn, guess who?
You're goddamn right.

Enter GameStop: Prelude to GMERICA

One month after IEP's succession plan (Oct 1, 2020), Ryan Cohen writes a letter to GameStop board on November 16, 2020:

RC Ventures letter to GameStop board
Take notice of the first sentence: RCV with AFFILIATES - like the same Affiliates that just raised a massive Multi-Billion Dollar pool of Investment Funds for Investor Activism and acquiring companies.
Are you starting to see where this is all going?
With a turnaround plan successfully implemented into GameStop, the company was able to escape Cellar Boxing. However, it was not entirely free due to swaps as covered by criand's meme stock basket DD.
I believe in the first half of 2021 and post-sneeze, most of the Activism plans were just formulating since GameStop was still in dire straits up until June 2021. And that's when a second sneeze occurred which allowed GME management to conduct an At-The-Market share offering with Jefferies as the handler which generated a $1 Billion Dollar War Chest to finance the development of GameStop NFT marketplace and create the foundation to build a Web 3.0 Metaverse world in 2022.
With one target company acquired and stabilized, it was then time to move onto the next.

Enter Blood, Bath, Beyond: 69D Rugpull

When systemic corruption in the markets were exposed from the Jan 2021 $GME sneeze, an international community of diamond-handed apes were borne from the aftermath, and were ready to gobble up entire company stock floats then Direct Register the Shares in their name (DRSGME.org & WhyDRS.org).
After GameStop, the Activist Investors set their sights on the next target company $BBBY and once again, RC Ventures wrote a letter to the board at Bed, Bath, and Beyond on March 6, 2022:

RC Ventures letter to $BBBY board
There it is again, the Activist Investors and their Affiliates show up to acquire another company.
Except this time they want to spin-off the buybuyBABY to pay off debt in the parent company, with a goal to evaluate a Full Sale to a Well-Capitalized Acquirer.
FYI- as of 4/23/23 from court docket 10 on page 27, it revealed that $BBBY had $1.8 Billion in total debt so they would need a massive pooled investment to buy out the entire company and then spin-off buybuyBABY (but a carve-out is the real plan).
After RCV sent the letter to $BBBY board, it was also around the same time when a bunch of GameStop NFT creators hoisted the flag 🏴‍☠️ and started tweeting in unison.
I won't dive into details since my other GMERICA posts (see my history) cover everything up to this point so I will focus on this event which is relevant:
RC Ventures sells his $BBBY shares on August 18, 2022.
Recently, it was discovered in $BBBYQ ch11 court docs that when RCV "sold" the $BBBY position that it in fact DID NOT return those shares back to the public markets.
Now, if you combine your newfound knowledge about Investment Funds and Affiliates then it becomes pretty clear that RCV "sold" or most likely transferred the shares to an unnamed party and who might that be?
It is Lazard Ferres, an investment bank, which was pointed out in a post titled "The juice is in the fruit. BBBY engaged Lazard Freres in August... one week before RC sold his stake**"** by travis_b13.
Lazard has been utilized to carry out LBO transactions for IEP's takeover of HP & Xerox by working with Carol Flaton of AlixPartners. Carol was hired as an independent director of $BBBY in late January 2023 and later appointed to $BBBY board.
TLDR summary of Travis_b13's post:
  • In $BBBYQ chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, it was recently revealed on docket 345 that Lazard Freres, an investment bank was retained for any sales transactions and restructuring.
  • Lazard Freres entered into an Indemnification Letter on August 10, 2022 which enabled Lazard to buy, sell, underwrite, place or purchase any securities in a financing or otherwise placement agency or purchase agreement -- basically Lazard had free reign to do ANYTHING with the shares that it was about to receive from RC Ventures on August 18, 2022
  • Furthermore, docket 345 revealed that Lazard and BBBY had an engagement letter and also a Dealer Manager Agreement dated on October 18, 2022.
  • What is a Dealer Manager Agreement? It is an agreement that governs the relationship between the offeror (BBBY) and the dealer-managers (the Activist Investors & Affiliates) and is signed by the parties to the commencement of a debt tender offer -- a signature LBO move by Icahn to acquire companies.
  • Within the same docket 345, discovered in this other post, it mentions Lazard wanting a percentage fee of buybuyBABY when the sale consummates between debtor (parent company BBBY) and the buyer (IEP).
  • Lazard is holding the shares it received from RC Ventures and entered into another deal via Dealer Manager Agreement with a different party on Oct 18, 2022.
Guess what also happened around October 18, 2022?
Ryan Cohen tweeted this -- perhaps there was a meeting and signatures were required:

OG Activist Investor & The Young
Before we wrap this up, let's tie up some loose ends.

Another ape u/alebubu noticed too, in this post.
The siege began on May 2, 2023, at the same time Hindenburg's Short Report was released:

The Blitzkreig Short Report masking the Swap that has been Activated
And of course, now it looks like a swap has been setup to anchor the $3xBYQ rocket while suppressing $IEP stock price. Credit for technical chart to u/Charoenlai:

Shorts setup a swap on $IEP & $BBYQ, kinda like the meme stock basket of $GME vs. the world to prevent these rocket(s) from flying
Basically, Icahn knows. Pulte knows. And Cohen knows:

Ryan Cohen likes Pulte's tweet on the Shorts Strike Back (simulation confirmed)
In my first post that seeded GMERICA, I wrote about Carl Icahn the OG Activist Ape aka MSM-dubbed Corporate Raider:

Again, I will TLDR summarize these filings in the next section.

https://preview.redd.it/zb9waesi0y2b1.png?width=1160&format=png&auto=webp&s=967ad1f16126b4bb8093dbc30db8f10e014be9a0

For the "employee" Isthmus, that is $7.5M investment with a matching "employer" investment up to $292.5M for combined $300M maximum per investment transaction -- remember this for $3xBYQ later.

However, it was not entirely free due to swaps as covered by u/criand's meme stock basket DD.

When systemic corruption in the markets were exposed from the Jan 2021 $GME sneeze, an international community of diamond-handed apes were borne from the aftermath, and were ready to gobble up entire company stock floats then Direct Register the Shares (DRS) in their name.
After GameStop, the Activist Investors set their sights on the next target company $3xBY and once again, RC Ventures wrote a letter to the board at Bed, Bath, and Beyond on March 6, 2022:

RC Ventures letter to $3xBY board
There it is again, the Activist Investors and their Affiliates show up to acquire another company.
Except this time they want to spin-off the buybuyBABY to pay off debt in the parent company, with a goal to evaluate a Full Sale to a Well-Capitalized Acquirer.
FYI- as of 4/23/23 from court docket 10 on page 27, it revealed that $3xBY had $1.8 Billion in total debt so they would need a massive pooled investment to buy out the entire company and then spin-off buybuyBABY (but a carve-out is the real plan).
After RCV sent the letter to $3xBY board, it was also around the same time when a bunch of GameStop NFT creators hoisted the flag 🏴‍☠️ and started tweeting in unison.
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I won't dive into details since my other GMERICA posts (see my history) cover everything up to this point so I will focus on this event which is relevant:
RC Ventures sells his $3xBY shares on August 18, 2022.
Recently, it was discovered in $3xBYQ ch11 court docs that when RCV "sold" the $3xBY position that it in fact DID NOT return those shares back to the public markets.
Now, if you combine your newfound knowledge about Investment Funds and Affiliates then it becomes pretty clear that RCV "sold" or most likely transferred the shares to an unnamed party and who might that be?
It is Lazard Ferres, an investment bank, which was pointed out in this post by u/travis_b13.
Lazard has been utilized to carry out LBO transactions for IEP's takeover of HP & Xerox by working with Carol Flaton of AlixPartners. Carol was hired as an independent director of 3xBY in late January 2023 and later appointed to 3xBY board.
TLDR summary of Travis_b13's post:
  • In $3xBYQ chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, it was recently revealed on docket 345 that Lazard Freres, an investment bank was retained for any sales transactions and restructuring.
  • Furthermore, docket 345 revealed that Lazard and 3xBY had an engagement letter and also a Dealer Manager Agreement dated on October 18, 2022.
  • What is a Dealer Manager Agreement? It is an agreement that governs the relationship between the offeror (3xBY) and the dealer-managers (the Activist Investors & Affiliates) and is signed by the parties to the commencement of a debt tender offer -- a signature LBO move by Icahn to acquire companies.
  • Within the same docket 345, discovered in this other post, it mentions Lazard wanting a percentage fee of buybuyBABY when the sale consummates between debtor (parent company 3xBY) and the buyer (IEP).

2023.05.30 07:06 Holiday-Possible29 The Students Chapter 28

Hello everyone! I hope that you’re ready for another chapter of The Students! Before I get into that, though I wanted to thank u/winter-reigndeer694 for making this fantastic meme. It was exactly the response I was looking for when I wrote the chapter. This was also the first meme that someone has made of my fic. Thank you I really appreciate it. In other news, I had writer’s block so sorry if this sucks. I hope you enjoy and thank you to u/spacepaladin15 for the original story.

Life was good. I had been in this apartment for about a week now, and I never thought that I would be this comfortable anywhere but home. Despite the fact that this was my first time away from home, surrounded by war vets that weren’t even on the same side, I was comfortable. Something, that when I told my parents about, they practically showered me with praise for doing as well as I was. Sure, I had my moments, like when I found out about that Arxur, the thing with my nest, and the party a couple of days ago. I shuddered when I thought about the party. The fact that that hulking human not only knew about my exploits but praised me for them was nothing short of a shock. It was also kind of motivating when I think about it. Other than those hiccups, life has been good. Even though we’re only a week or so into the semester, I feel confident that I can stay on top of everything and come out stronger because of it.
I shook myself out of my daydreams and focused back on the homework that I was doing. It was based on human programming languages, which was exciting for several reasons. I don’t know what it was about them, but they all seemed to flow like no other language that I had worked with before, and they were extremely intuitive. I relished the time that I had to learn about something that I’m passionate about. I was so engrossed in my project that I barely noticed Connor walk into the room carrying box that was large even for him. I tore myself away from my project long enough to see Connor opening it with a knife.
“Whacha got there?” I asked curiously.
Connor smiled as he opened the flaps of the cardboard box. “I got a package from home! There isn’t much mail service between here and Earth, but my mom cooked up a care package for me! I don’t even know what’s in here, but knowing my mom, it’ll be something good.”
My curiosity was piqued. What would a human mother send to her grown up hatchling? “Well, what’s in it?”
He started pulling various plastic wrapped things out of the box. The writing was in English, and I didn’t have my visual translator ready to go, so he just started rattling off the different things that came in the package. “Let’s see here, we got extra Double A batteries, a couple of flashlights, authentic vegan marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for smores, mom’s homemade cookies (score! Mom’s recipe is the best!), a fifty credit gift card, and-“ He suddenly stopped and stared into the box.
“What is it? What did you get?”
“I fetching love my mom!” he practically shouted as he pulled a large black box with a handle attached to it out of the cardboard box and onto the table. He looked at me and his face fell a bit. “So, before I tell you what this is, I need to give you some context.”
I nodded my head. “Ok, why does it need context though?”
“Because it sounds horrible without context.” I shuddered involuntarily but got it under control and nodded for him to continue. He hesitated only for a moment before launching into his pitch. “So back in the 1980’s or something like that, there was a company named Games Workshop. Like the name suggests, they made, and still make, games. Those games happened to be tabletop war games.”
My feathers puffed up. “W-war games?”
“Yeah, the idea behind them was that they created a strategy game where you would command an army that would fight another army controlled by your opponent. And, of course because they wanted to sell more than plastic miniatures and paint, they also created lore for them that, quite honestly, is really messed up. When any alien besides an Arxur hears about the lore for the first time, they are usually horrified, and run out of the room before anyone can explain that the whole thing is satire, and many people consider it to be the worst-case scenario when it comes to our interactions with aliens. I just want to reiterate that this game is not how humanity feels about aliens, ok?”
I shuddered again despite his words. Only predators would love a game glorifying violence and war like this. “Why though?” I asked horror clear in my voice.
He shrugged. “I don’t know, why did the federation have a TV show glorifying the extermination of species that showed no threat to anyone? Arguably this is tame by comparison.” He said defensively as he finally opened the case and pulled out figure after figure of what I assumed were armor covered humans with massive pauldrons carrying flamethrowers. The green of the armor was a stark contrast from the pitch black of the case that it came in. As I got closer to look at them, I could see the individual brush marks on one of the miniatures.
“Wait, did you paint these yourself?” I asked.
He chuckled. “Yeah, I did. Back in the day, you had to paint each mini with painstaking detail. Nowadays though, you can usually just buy them prepainted, but it’s a rite of passage in the community to hand paint your first army.”
I gasped in wonderment as he continued to pull mini after mini out of the case until there was well over fifty minis sitting on the table. “What are these?”
He chuckled again. “They are called space marines, and they are kind of like the elite forces of humanity in the lore of the game. These ones are from a chapter of space marines called the Salamanders, and they are the closest thing that 40k has to good guys.”
“Oh, wow!” I said with equal parts amazement at the painting job and terror of what I was hearing.
“Yeah, it’s pretty cool. I had a lot of time just doing nothing after I lost my arm, so I ended up getting into the extremely expensive hobby of painting miniatures like this and playing the game.”
I looked from the minis to him and then to the box. “Wait a second, there’s easily more room in that box than what you’ve shown me! What else do you have in there?”
“Well, right before I left for school here, I had another painting project that I was working on, and my mom packed it up in here too, along with the paints needed to paint the army.”
A thought came to my mind. “C-could I try and paint one?”
He smiled. “Sure! I’ll get you a reference sheet so that you can know what color to paint it!” With that, he pulled out a smaller figure holding a rifle and wearing a gas mask, along with some paint and pencil thin brushes. “Happy painting!”
This is the most fun I’ve had in a while! I thought to myself as I looked down at my claws to see them covered in paint. I looked back down at the model that I was obsessing over for the last three hours. “I think I’m finished!” I proudly exclaimed.
Connor leaned over to take stock of the state of the mini. “Dang dude! For the first time painting, you did really good!” I practically beamed with pride. There’s nothing that can tear me down from this high.
Suddenly, Spot walked into the apartment. He took one look at the mini, and immediately recognized it. “Dammit Connor, did you get him into Warhammer?”

2023.05.30 07:04 Insanekitten [CA] [US] [SELLING] Mega Anime Nendoroid Figure Sale (Older Nendoroid collection)

Image of wall of Nendoroids and couple of Figmas: https://imgur.com/a/FBaVpAx?
I was an active anime collector a decade ago but I’m realizing now I just don’t really have the space to display most of my collection all at once, and most of these have just remained in storage. So with a heavy heart, I’ve decided it’s probably about time to really pare down my collection and let these go to a loving home where they will be better appreciated and maybe see the light of day.So I’ll be working on listing a bunch of my collection, from figures, manga, DVDs, plushies, and anime merch. Much of my collection is from around 2010 or earlier, I stopped actively buying stuff around 2013, so you will notice I have mostly older figures. I’ll still be figuring out what I really want to keep so some of these figures I may be on the fence about - but by all means feel free to send me an offer.
Happy to take more photos and provide more details if you are interested in specific figure(s), just ask.
I accept Paypal G&S. I am open to trades and best offers.
Figures come from a smoke-free and cat-friendly home and are being shipped out from Canada, BC, Vancouver. I will calculate shipping using either Canada Post or USPS, whichever works out to be the best option, and I will give buyers a range when possible. I am happy to combine shipping and ship worldwide. I am also willing to arrange for free pickups if you are in the Lower Mainland.
I use recycled materials, so basically I reuse Amazon boxes, or whatever I have on hand. I will ensure the boxes are sturdy and well packed (I give em the ol shake test). I can also buy new shipping materials to ship figures at buyer’s expense if the buyer prefers.
MIB = Mint In Box, has never been opened, seal is intact, and box is in mint condition.
CIB = Complete in Box, all parts are included, has been opened.

2023.05.30 06:48 ThrowRA-adviceseek M35 in a 6 year relationship, married for 3 but wife (F33) has a crush

Hi,
I've been with my wife for 6 years, married for 3 (discussed kids next year) and we have had a great relationship up to now. However, she recently met someone (around 5-6 weeks ago) through her hobby which has caused some insecurity and trust issues for me as I found out she has a crush on him. She's quite conservative, though gets attention from guys quite often due to her hobby and I'm generally ok with it, since I trust her not to sleep around. However, they spent a lot of time together over these weeks due to a hobby project they did together (as part of a group) and feelings have emerged. I've been in a similar situation myself and managed to see the signs and get myself out of there. Her hobby is not something she is willing to give up, and I'm concerned she is going in the wrong direction on this and while she knows it's not good, she is also a little naive to see it could evolve to much worse.
She's out of the country for work for the next 2 weeks so can't see this guy for now, but she keeps notes on her icloud and has been adding comments about what they will discuss when they next meet and I can see them (she has her phone with her and I use her Mac here so just saw them without thinking). It's kinda innocent but basically lining up to be a date: her recalling what he said and how he wanted to hear about her past, dreams, and what she will share with him, comments he made about her (flirty but nothing sexual), what they will discuss when they meet, etc. I don't have access to her social media to check anything else and feel a bit sick thinking about that option since this is uncomfortable already.
She also has a note from last week where she wrote out how she worried about him all day since she didn't hear from him and that she feels very happy they became friends and it feels wonderful how close they became. She closes with it feels like a love letter, and she is limiting her communication because she's in a relationship but she wants to be lifelong friends. I assume she wrote this out and sent it to him so he knows her feelings too. Despite the friends comment, this is obviously way beyond what I can consider acceptable in a relationship and if she did send him (or even more since). I guess this is not one way and he's hinted or directly said something so this also brings my mind to: I'm not 100% sure he won't visit her where she is now and I'd have no way of knowing if he did either.I think it's very unlikely given the cost and time for him to get there, short notice, and she does seem conflicted and conscious of how she is saying these things, but I don't obviously don't see everything. Of course if anything like that happened the relationship is done, but I'm pretty sure that won't happen at this stage and she's just having a crush, feeling excited to see him when she gets back. She's not disassociated with me either and communication has been pretty normal while is is away so I don't think it's anything on this front.
I feel it's more of a situational crush (work wife/husband) type situation for now and if we get it discussed soon it will go away peacefully, but I can see a bad ending to this if I don't approach her about it soon. If she was in the country now I would just ask her directly, but do I really want to bring up how I know? And for the next 2 weeks we are in different countries so do I wait to see if any more comments are added to the note? I'm worried if I don't bring it up soon, her longing for him (however superficial it may/may not be) will grow and I'll be more paranoid in my messages and calls with her these next 2 weeks that she will get annoyed with me.
TLDR: wife has a crush on someone and is out of the country for a couple of weeks so I'm struggling on when/how to communicate that I know and that we need to resolve this (I do feel we can resolve and move past it and I'm sure cheating (physically at least) hasn't happened yet).
Would really appreciate some advice - thank you!
