Need help updating packs to 1.19

2023.05.30 21:46 Egg_Spoon Need help updating packs to 1.19

So I have some old custom models (mostly just for turning carved pumpkins with custom model data into hats) that were made for 1.18.2. They work perfectly fine in 1.18.2, but when I try updating them to 1.19.3 they have missing textures. I've fiddled with them every way I could think of, to no avail. Was there some sort of change done in 1.19.0 - 1.19.3 that could cause this? It seems that any shape I give them is retained after updating but they have no textures, only black and pink.

Say My Name, With Your Sunlight Veins - Birth
They came into the world together, not even a minute apart from each other. One bore the cerulean eyes of his father, dark pools of moonlit sapphire. The other’s burned the lavish purple of their mother. The color of royalty, of privilege. The color that heralded dragons.
They knew the warmth of their mother for so brief a moment. She was there, breathing in that instant, crying tears of relief and of anguish all the while. In the next, she was gone.
Then there were no hands to cradle them. No whispers to coddle them. No lips to kiss them asleep. Only the ambivalent touch of a maester, and the hollow replacement of a wet nurse.
They cried, although they did not know their own sadness. They laughed, although they did not yet know humor. And for those silent months where a city held its breath, they learned to breathe. One puff in, one puff out, in perfect unison.
One Step Away From Crying - Months After Birth
When the war was finally over, the King’s City knew laughter again. It also recalled despair. Sons returned to their mothers, husbands to their wives, brothers embraced their sisters. But for every heartfelt reunion there were twice as many funerals.
Not every life was lost on the battlefield.
When Arthur Crane arrived at the capitol, he stormed the halls of the Red Keep searching for his lady love. He was all too late. She was gone, meeting the seven Gods in their Kingdom. All she had left were the twins, and a message upon her lips that left the Reachman cold and stiff.
He did not stay long enough for the parades. He didn’t care for a soldier’s honors. He didn’t want for medals, or titles, or ceremonies. The only thing he yearned for was lost to him. Forever. He remained to meet with the new King. He said the words, he was dismissed. He gathered his two sons, the boys Viserra had left to him. And he was gone, down the roseroad. Back to face his fate, his family, and his failures.
Running Through the Cold Air, Searching for Our Meaning - Young Childhood
They made it to Red Lake, the boys born of a love forbidden. The castle was not so large as the one they’d come from, though to a toddler it made no difference. It was there they met their brothers and sister. Garlan, the eldest, who always regarded them with kindness, even if there was a certain distance to it. John, the second oldest, who didn’t seem to take much note of them at all. Braxton, the middle child, who found his greatest entertainment in the teasing of them. Steffon, who took a quiet interest in them. And Margaery, who was the closest to them in age, and never found a liking for them.
More important than any of their siblings, however, was the Lady of Red Lake, (NAME) of House (NAME). Of all the people impacted by the arrival of Loras and Brandon Flowers, the one most affected proved to be the one least deterred. (NAME), the proud mother of the Crane brood, felt the shame rise in her as she learned of her husband’s infidelity. Yet still, she was wiser than many and kinder than most. She knew better than to make children suffer for the mistakes of their father. She raised them among her own, treated them as Cranes of true birth, rather than Flowers of ill-blooming. And she managed to make a family out of them. They grew as close as any band of brothers ought to. And Arthur did what he could. Arranging for wardships with the nearby Lords that had sons of similar age. Slowly the pieces began to fit into place. Pieces that formed into lifelong friendships.
“You guys aren’t very good at this game.” Braxton complained aloud. Brandon muttered apologies, waving his hands about. Loras frowned deeply.
“You’re not very good at this game.” He countered in response. Braxton slow-clapped his reply.
“Very clever, little brother.”
Loras rolled his eyes.
He was right, the Crane. The twins weren’t very good at rats and cats. Loras didn’t understand why the rats couldn’t just fight back. Brandon didn’t much like the running away after he had been found. Their vices made for a very dysfunctional trio of game partners.
“Could I play with you guys?” A voice rang out from behind them. The three brothers wheeled their heads around, settling their eyes upon a young boy. He had sandy blond hair and eyes of pale gray. He was short.
“Who are you?” Brandon asked with a tilted head.
“Yeah, who are you?” Loras asked with pronounced suspicion.
“I’m Ethan. Ethan Shermer.” The boy spoke calmly.
“Shermer of Smithyton?” Braxton chimed in, “You’re Lord Cody’s son?”
“He’s my uncle, actually. But yeah.” Ethan replied. Braxton merely shrugged.
“Alright. You can play with us.” Loras decided. “But there’s a condition.” The boy from Smithyton nodded.
“What is it?” Ethan asked.
“You have to play the rat.” Loras said. Ethan smiled.
“I always do.”
You’ve Got Mirth and I’ve Got Snow Hands - Childhood, Early Adolescence
Loras and Brandon continued to grow over the years. Their friendship with Ethan turned into a true bond between them, and before long the three were made pages, cupbearers and squires. They served Lord Arthur himself, whenever he could be roused long enough to attend a tournament for their sake. Most of their training took place in Red Lake itself, against the quintains and training dummies strewn across the yard.
At a squire’s tourney the three boys are made four when they come across Addam Shermer, the fourth son of Cody of Smithyton. Addam is an idiot, but a loveable one. After some reluctance from the Lord of Crane, Addam is admitted into the growing number of wards in the custody of Red Lake.
It is not but a year later that the same quadrio is unhorsed in consecutive tilts by one Leo Hutcheson, the self professed Heir to the Suncage. He is a few years their senior, but their altercation sparks a conversation, which leads to a friendship. Leo is allowed by his father to visit Red Lake over extended periods of time.
In the next year, one Triston Bridges arrives at Red Lake after being removed as a ward from Holy Hall. He is slow to open up, but finds a connection in his innate ability to help others.
Jace Graceford enters a self imposed exile after being condemned by his father, the Lord of Holy Hall. With nowhere left to turn he arrives at the gates of Red Lake with nothing but the clothes on his back and the sword on his hip. He is wroth with any strangers, unapproachable at the best of times and outright petrifying at the worst of them. Triston Bridges vouches for him however, the two sharing a kind of connection that allowed them both to be vulnerable. Given time, Jace comes around to the Boys of Red Lake, and becomes a fierce protector of his friends, though he is still adversarial to most others.
The behemoth of a “boy” grunted as his axe slammed into the shield of his opponent.
Loras Flowers’ teeth rattled at the impact. Jace Graceford was a beast by any metric. Taller, stronger, and more vicious at arms than any of the other Boys. The bastard marveled at his power, and cursed the fact that he’d drawn him as his sparring partner.
The axe slammed down again and again. Loras checked with his shield. His forearm flared hot with pain from the effort. He brought his sword low to earn him some ground. Jace swatted that attempt with his own shield, then laid down the assault.
He made Loras yield, though it had not come without work. The bastard had been disarmed twice, first his sword, then his shield that he’d tried to use in its place. His knuckles were bloody from that poor decision, but he took Jace’s outstretched hand all the same. After the fighting they were brothers. No matter what.
They watched the rest of the Boys spar after their match was over. Addam bested Brandon. Steffon defeated Ethan. Then it was time for Triston and Leo. Bridges was no match for Hutcheson, not really, but no one ever got better fighting someone they knew they could beat. It went as it always did, Leo’s extra size, experience, and finesse worked circles around the slighter built Triston. Instead of yielding, the redhead kept on coming, even after he’d been smacked in the chest and head. Loras remembered a time where that would have set Jace off, sent him into a frenzy that only Triston could pull him out of. Now they all had that kind of bond.
When it was over, Leo’s hand stretched downward, and up came Triston.
After the fighting they were brothers. No matter what.
Chin Held Shut, So My Heart Can Talk Louder - Teenage Years, Present
It was all so sudden when it came crashing down. (NAME) had been expecting, her and Arthur had finally seemed to learn love for the sake of themselves, and not expectations. This child was meant to be the last. The one that carried them all into the future. None of them could have known how it would end.
She died in the delivery room. Just like their other mother had. And she left them a brother, who Arthur named Aemond despite his grief.
It was all so quiet afterwards. Red Lake forgot how to smile in the months following her death. Garlan couldn’t take it, his mother’s death only seemed to drive him further away from their Lord father. John finally stood still long enough to be spoken to. He seemed to regret all the years he’d spent shirking his mother’s affections. Braxton cried, and vowed to never go a day without praying for their lost matriarch. He kept his promise.
It took years, but they healed. It wasn’t obvious when, but at some point they felt joy again. They laughed, cried, won, lost. Life continued, no matter how hard it was, and new resolves were born in the aftermath.
Loras and Brandon swore an oath to each other, with all their companions at their side as witnesses. They would earn a name for themselves, as the Oldflowers’ had done, as the Vikarys had. Just as their mother had wished for them.

How can we make a armorstand model the same size and position of a block?
I have a model for a carved pumpkin, it seems hard to make it a 1:1 size of a block on a armorstand. I think i heard the scale of 1.6 is good for the scale, but the positioning is hard. What would the positioning for y level need to be? Also, whats the units for these? Doesnt seem to be normal units anymore for the armorstands.

2023.05.30 16:38 NumberOneFemboi (24 M) Can weight loss and anorexia cause chronic fatigue and brain fog, or is it depression or something more?

About 4 years back, I was a depressed and obese teen. Something clicked in me, and I lost all the weight over a year and a half. I also started taking Dutasteride around that year and a half mark for my hair and a few other reasons. I’m 5’10 and dropped to 145 lbs. I got a six pack and all. At the tail end of my weight loss, I’d say I probably developed anorexia, especially when looking back at old photos of me. I started dealing with fatigue, weakness, insomnia and dizziness when standing from a low position, but that was about it at first. I was still able to do the things I enjoyed and whatnot. This continued for about 6 months, and then my living situation got to be stressful and continued to be so for quite some time. Eventually, brain fog also developed. At first it would come and go, and would come especially after I ate a meal. But as time continued to go on, it got worse and worse to where today, it’s pretty much constant and chronic. I’ve also just had weird digestive issues. Getting full after eating very little, rarely really feeling actual hunger, bloating etc. The fatigue and brain fog combined has completely ruined my life. I used to go climb a mountain or run a half marathon on a whim, I would always have so much energy and would get shit done; but now I’m exhausted even after doing some of the most mild and easy of house chores. I used to be extremely intelligent, clever and have a rich internal monologue, but now I’ve almost never got anything going on in my head; it’s like my brains been taken and replaced with a cotton ball. Sometimes the fog would be so bad, I’d slur words as if I were drunk or something, or have problems walking and with balance. To make things even more odd, I’ve had random days where I would feel great, and mostly like my old self. The fatigue and brain fog would seemingly lift for 1-3 days or so, I felt on top of the world and had all the energy I did before any of this started. Although, I’ve not had a day like this in a while, and I’ve never been able to pick out what may have caused it. I’ve lost my job now and am in extreme debt from missing work due to my medical problems and how difficult it makes even the most simple of things.
I started seeing a doctor the moment I started dealing with fatigue. No problems were found besides at the time, a moderate anemia. I started making myself eat more and have since then gained like 30-40 lbs over like the next year and a half. I’m still pretty lean despite the amount of weight gain, as this was also when I started lifting weights. My anemia drastically improved like two months after I first saw my doctor and found out I had anemia, but it never made it to normal levels. Even now, after so long, I still have a mild normocytic anemia that my doctor cannot figure out. I have no other anomalies in blood work. All nutrients and other blood markers that would influence RBC production is always normal. I was meant to see a hematologist, but considering I’ve now lost my job and have zero diagnoses, I do not have insurance anymore and can no longer seek medical treatment. I’m being pushed into a corner, and I don’t know what to do.
When all these physical symptoms started, I was not depressed. I was as happy, energetic and thoughtful as I had always been, but they eventually led to depression for sure. I’m scared I’ve developed some sort of chronic disease, but the basic blood markers for many of them have been tested and have come back negative as well, but I know that’s no guarantee. I was also wondering if it’s possible that perhaps the depression is the cause of my physical symptoms now, and I just perhaps was unable to tell if the weight gain rectified any physical problems due to this. Or perhaps I still need to just gain some more weight, specifically some body fat? I’m still lean enough to where I’ve got veins popping out of my arms and legs most of the time, unless I’m cold.
I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t see my doctor, and I’m facing homelessness at this point due to how difficult it is to work now. I think I’m soon going to call it quits, if you know what I mean.

2023.05.30 16:03 why_always_me_PD (29M) In the last 10 yrs I was diagnosed with depression, panic disorder and even OCD. It turns out that I have ADHD

Don't know exactly why I am making this post. It is partly to connect with the community and probably also to hear stories similar to mine. In one word: empathy.
A couple of weeks ago I was almost casually diagnosed with ADHD. I live in a country where Adderall and other ADHD drugs are illegal, reason why psychiatrists/therapists almost never diagnose it. It pisses me off to have lost so much time taking drugs for depression, anxiety and OCD that never worked, while at the same time suffering when there could have been other options to alleviate me of the symptoms. But at the end of the day it is useless to ruminate on this.
I have always been very distractable, but I experienced the first ADHD symptoms in the first few weeks of my freshman year at college (recently read that this is very common). I considered myself clever and, suddenly, I could not concentrate on fucking anything, which, in turn, started a vicious cycle of depression that impacted every sphere of my life.
Currently, my symptoms are very similar to what recently posted on here. I will add the following:
• Foggy - sometimes paralyzed - cognitive abilities: impossible to concentrate on anything, to think, to talk as I would like, to follow a conversation, to remember things I know
• At the end of the day I get strong headaches and am extremely tired
• Tunnel vision: when I have to do something intellectually demanding I can only do that one thing. All the other spheres of my life are frozen
• To “concentrate”, everything must be silent near me. If it is not, I get kind of mad
• Slow at anything: I may start one thing, leave it unfinished because other things come to my mind, only to remember later about it and go back to it
• Never done it regularly, but used love drinking alcohol and taking (hard) drugs. They felt like the only moment where my mind was freer. Cannot do it anymore though as hangovers make me miserable and my slowness significantly increases
• Unable to read “properly” (i.e. I sometimes start at the beginning of a page and shortly after find myself reading the end or randomly scrolling up and down). Also, I almost always skim the text trying to find the most relevant information
• Extreme rumination - not in control of my thoughts
• Shame, demoralization, tendency to surrender when encountering an obstacle
• Extremely low self-esteem
• Very emotional, sometimes overly emotional
• Almost-zero memory
• Extreme hypersensitivity to sounds (ambulances and honking) are the worse
• Forgetting theme of conversation or what I wanted to say
• Nervous, impatient
• Clumsy - very poor coordination
I am now at a huge turning point in my life, as I will soon be moving to the US for an MBA at one of the top schools in the country. I am happy to start over and to finally be able to take the proper medications, although I fear that I won’t be able to take them permanently because they will make me anxious. Fingers crossed though; even a 10-20% improvement would mean a lot. Very deep inside I know that I have so much untapped potential.
The two areas where I want to invest a lot of my time are doing sports and meditating. I am already doing the latter, but with very depressing results. I tried different types of meditations and the one that seems to work best for me is body scan.
I appreciate that you read all of this, really. If you have any success stories to share, suggestions, words of encouragement or anything else, they are more than welcome! Vice versa, please abstain from depressing me even more.
Thank you

2023.05.30 12:37 Emmzerks I got diagnosed as neurodivergent later in life and it’s broken me

I (33f) was diagnosed with ADHD last November, along with a recommendation I be assessed for autism. I wasn’t surprised about the ADHD, but I was a little thrown by the observation that I might be autistic. Prior to starting medication, for about 4 years, I would have the same thought every single day: Life is so hard and I wish I wasn’t alive. Once I started medication, those thoughts stopped, my functioning got better and I was hopeful for the first time in years. But the nagging thought that I might be autistic has led me to realise that my experience of life is not at all normal.
With the exception of my partner and parents, no one in my life (personally or professionally) is aware that I suffer with extreme anxiety. I am successful - I have to 2 degrees where I was top of the class both times, I have advanced very quickly in my career and I am very good at my job. I appear confident, I’m intelligent, I regularly engage in public speaking, and I am described as charismatic. Even if I tell people that I suffer with anxiety, they don’t believe me, or they don’t believe how bad it is.
I’m waiting for an autism assessment, but I think in my heart of hearts, I don’t need one. I know I am. The more I learn, the more I see that it’s true. You can’t help but reflect on your past in these situations, and it’s truly painful to realise that I have spent my whole life masking and hiding who I am. I’ve tried to blend, so that no one will make fun of or be horrible to or attack me.
My mum had to answer questions about my childhood as part of the assessment and she said something that broke my heart - “She acted differently than other children, but she was also clever and when she realised she was different, she became quieter and much more private”.
I bend over backwards for people. I don’t do anything if it will inconvenience someone else. I flog myself at work to achieve results. I make people laugh as much as possible even though I am uncomfortable talking to anybody. I’m uncomfortable accepting any praise or anything that will single me out. When someone does tell me off, I’ll immediately apologise, even if I don’t understand or mean it. I do all of this because I don’t want to be attacked. I’m hypersensitive and I think if I say no to people, or don’t get people to like me, or single myself out then someone will be unkind and it will just ruin my already low self esteem.
I’ve started therapy and I’m going to be starting a journey to learn, understand and accept who I am. Internalised ableism has got me where I am now, so I’m going to unlearn that too. It’s so painful to know that I’ve done this to myself. Despite all of this, I don’t regret getting a diagnosis. Ignorance may have been bliss, but it wasn’t the truth.

2023.05.30 06:17 spaceFaceInThisPlace Special Delivery (Prologue)

Special Delivery (Prologue)
Awakening
I wake up in the living room of a house, disoriented and uneasy. Something feels off, as if the world around me is shifting. I look towards the front window, expecting sunlight to illuminate the room, but instead, I notice flaws developing on the glass. Shadows dance across the walls, and the brightness of the day wavers, creating an eerie atmosphere.
Did it just get really dark in here? No….it’s perfectly lit. Did that happen?
As I try to make sense of my surroundings, I realize that the furniture is arranged in a peculiar manner.
The box, in all its enigmatic simplicity, stood in the center of the room like an ordinary cardboard container. Its unassuming appearance held no grandeur or ornate embellishments, contrasting starkly with the peculiar events unfolding around it. It seemed like an artifact of mundanity, with no indication of the mysteries it concealed within.
The surface of the box was plain and unadorned, a humble facade that betrayed no secrets. It bore no intricate carvings or elegant patterns, just the rough texture of brown cardboard. Its corners were slightly dented, bearing witness to the wear and tear of its journey, adding to the unremarkable nature of its appearance.
On one side of the box, the word "Croatian" was carelessly scrawled in haphazard handwriting, as if an afterthought or a hurried addition. The letters appeared sloppy and uneven, lacking any aesthetic finesse. They stood out in stark contrast against the plainness of the box, their sloppiness serving as a stark reminder of the enigma that surrounded us.
Am I in Croatia? How did I end up here?
I'm not alone. Other people are also in the room, their presence equally bewildering. Tension hangs in the air, and unease grips us all.
Unable to contain my curiosity, I break the silence. "My name is Todd," I introduce myself. "Please, introduce yourselves and give a bit of backstory. Why are you here, and where exactly is 'here'?"
An Introduction
A voice quivers with fear as Steve speaks up. "My name is Steve, and I need to leave!" He rushes towards the front door, desperately searching for an escape route. But as he tries to open the door, he realizes it's locked tight. Panic sets in as he frantically attempts to find a way out.
Driven by determination, Steve retreats to the opposite doorway, preparing for a daring escape. He takes a running start, covering an astonishing distance that seems to extend beyond the limits of the house itself. We watch, filled with suspense, as Steve hurtles towards the door. But to everyone's shock, disaster strikes. He collides with the door and is instantly flattened, his lifeless body pulverized into a momentary gruesome sight as he is consumed by thin air. His disappearance leaves us all stunned and mystified.
“Is anyone else named Steve?”
The girl in the corner lets out a blood-curdling scream, her cries growing louder and more piercing with each passing moment. Suddenly, the corner of the house extends forward, distorting its dimensions and forming a grotesque mouth. In a horrifying turn of events, the corner engulfs the girl, swallowing her whole. There's no trace left, no remnants of her existence. The once-lively room falls silent, engulfed in an eerie calmness. Outside, clouds gather, obscuring the natural daylight. The remaining occupants of the house are paralyzed with terror, their screams silenced by an unknown force.
Transformation
As we stand frozen in fear, the room undergoes a surreal transformation. Ceilings rise, and the space expands, stretching beyond our comprehension. A figure hovers in the far corner, contorted and suspended in mid-air. With astonishing speed, the figure hurtles towards us, defying the laws of physics.
Before I can even process the situation, I wake up abruptly. The room returns to its previous state, unchanged from when I first arrived. However, something is amiss. A figure stands outside in the front yard, peering into the house. Darkness cloaks their features, adding to the enigma surrounding their presence. The house remains unusually illuminated, devoid of light switches or outlets, emanating a piercing brightness that defies reason.
The other three individuals in the room are still unconscious, unaware of the impending transformation that will forever alter their lives. An aura of uncertainty hangs in the air, foreshadowing the profound changes that await us.
What's in the Box?
Morning breaks, and the clock on the wall reads 8 o'clock. The remaining occupants of the house awaken, their faces etched with deep contemplation. Outside, a small crowd has gathered, their murmurs filling the air. Tension permeates the atmosphere as anticipation builds.
Suddenly, a voice booms from the box, answering the question that has plagued us all. "You are, Chad. You are in the box," it says, sending shivers down my spine. Chad, taken aback, rises from his spot, but a dark cloud materializes beneath him, enveloping his body. The cloud ascends, swallowing Chad entirely, leaving no trace behind.
Claire, Chad's sister, rushes to the box, desperate for answers or a glimpse of her brother. Darkness greets her gaze as she peers into the box. The bottom of the box transforms into a swirling void, and before anyone can react, Claire plunges into the abyss, disappearing into nothingness. I stand there, astounded, unable to trust my own eyes.
Admittance
Sharon's voice breaks the silence, revealing a crucial piece of the puzzle. She confesses, "I know why this is happening." Her words hang heavy with guilt and realization. She recounts the events of our ill-fated night, a celebration at the club after Chad passed the BAR exam, and her consumption of a pill for her Fibromyalgia. A strange dizziness had clouded her senses, making it hard to see clearly. Something terrible had occurred, but the details remained hazy in her memory.
Unbeknownst to Sharon, her collision with Elijah, our neighbor's 16-year-old son, had resulted in a tragic accident that claimed his life. The night took an unexpected turn when Chad, mischievous as ever, seized the opportunity and pilfered some of Sharon's pain medication. With a sly grin, he expertly crushed a pill and discreetly added it to her drink, unknowingly setting in motion a series of bizarre events. As the night progressed, Claire laughed, playfully suggesting that the drink needed a proper mix to avoid arousing suspicion. Little did they know the dark consequences that would follow.
Meanwhile, Steve's true identity remains shrouded in mystery, his presence lost amidst the chaos and terror that unfolded around us. Everyone knew each other in that room though, I can feel it. The inside of the house is filled with blinding light.
The crowd outside watches in awe as the house, engulfed in an inferno, burns with an intensity that defies explanation. The flames consume the structure, yet never spread beyond its boundaries, confounding onlookers and amplifying the sense of otherworldly occurrences.
The fact that this fire had been burning at the same rate for five days didn’t reinforce natural explanations.
As I awaken once again, I find myself in an unfamiliar setting—a dimly lit warehouse. The shadows play tricks on my eyes, and a sense of foreboding fills the air.
A box sits in the center of the warehouse.

Humans are Weird – Biscuits Recipes

Original Post: http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-biscuit-recipes
Embracesgladly was carefully maintaining her grip on Human Friend Maria as they moved down the corridor of the dry cave system. The lights pained on the ceiling to provide a near surface level of luminosity were just turning orange as somewhere, und upon und of solid rock above them the barren surface of the planet turned away from its harsh, near star. Again the human’s hormone profile changed, grew past the point on the gradient the Undulate had learned to recognize. Mindfully Embracesgladly loosed a gripping appendage to ‘pat’ Human Friend Maria’s main gripping appendage. Human Friend Maria returned the gesture by applying gentle pressure with the full area of her gripping surface to where it cradled Embracesgladly’s mass.
Human Friend Maria’s massive central atmosphere pumps took on a more mechanical rhythm as she shifted from passive to active control of her oxygen exchange and by the time they had reached Human Friend Maria’s habsuite, carved into the glittering granite of the world, the human’s pheromone gradient had begun to shift back into a less abnormal range. The massive mammal paused in front of her door and drew in a deep breath.
“See you tomorrow eh Hugs?” Human Friend Maria said, her voice still sounding a bit weak as it rumbled out of her chest and though the air.
“Unless you would like a sleeping companion,” Embracesgladly offered.
Human Friend Maria’s fibers stiffened and her stripes flushed with various emotions. Embracesgladly was pained to note that there wasn’t a little offense in the mix and when Human Friend Maria spoke her voice was carefully controlled into recognizably cheerful tones.
“No! I’m good. You shuffle on back to your habsuite.”
“Very well!” Embracesgladly tried to put as much cheer in her own voice. “If you need anything in the night remember your door is right beside the waterlock!”
She made a broad gesture down at the shimmering blue hatch and scrambled down Human Friend Maria’s side when the human’s usually powerful arms went limp and released her. The human maintained her stiff, upright posture until her door had opened and the massive mammal disappeared though it. However Embracesgladly felt the thump of the human slumping against the wall before dragging her massive bipedal frame towards the human sized hydration pool.
That was one perk of this world, Embracesgladly mused. There was always plentiful water of the temperature the humans thrived in. She slipped down into the wet corridor and swam slowly towards the medical pod. She pulled herself up into the rapidly darkening medical bay and spread her appendages to get her bearings.
Human Friend John lay on one of the human slabs, emitting a rhythmic sound. The absolutely massive – even for a human – mammal had been complaining of sleep issues and was no doubt here to make sure he wasn’t suffocating in the night as (supposedly) many humans did. However he was soundly asleep by the dim glow of his stripes and the bases chief medic was quietly sorting expired medical patches by an Undulate sized soaking tank the humans kept about two unds above the floor to decontaminate their hands.
“Swim over!” Medic Lurchesover waved to her.
Embracesgladly came to him and started helping with the sorting.
“How goes your personal assignment?” he asked with his dorsal appendages even as he ventral appendages continued to sort.
“It is working,” Embracesgladly responded slowly. “I do feel that I am doing her good.”
“Despite her best efforts?” Medic Lurchesover prodded gently.
“She is participating as best she can,” Embracesgladly replied quickly. “But she does resent needing help.”
“Can you sound that that is actually a common human reaction?” Medic Lurchesover demanded with a particularly wide gesture of his dorsal appendages.
“It does not seem to flow with reality,” Embracesgladly admitted as she felt the surface of a questionable patch. “I just am trying to swim towards my best efforts.”
For several companionable moments they sorted the patches while Medic Lurchesover mulled over her half request-half observation. Finally he set down his patches.
“Have you attention-attention-attention indefinitely?” he asked, emitting a rippling overtone along with the gestures.
Embracesgladly set down her own patches and absorbed his meaning in stillness for several moments.
“I am sorry,” she finally said. “I simply cannot sound how repeated attention touches is anything but a petty annoyance? Are you suggesting I overwhelm her biochemistry induces paranoia with genuine irritation adrenaline?”
Medic Lurchesover rippled with amused understanding.
“It is very confusing to us, I sound,” he gestured in soothing swoops. “You are wise to not simply try it on an emotionally compromised patient.”
“She is my friend, not my patient,” Embracesgladly corrected him. “I have no medical training.”
“Well!” Medic Lurchesover stated as he resumed his sorting. “Why don’t you go try it out on Human Friend John and see how he responds? That should clear the waters!”
Embracesgently waved a speculative appendage cluster in the direction of the massive human who had shifted from a rhythmic to a stuttering and gurgling sound profile.
“I am not a medic,” she gestured slowly, “but are there not issues of consent?”
“Oh, John waived all those consent bits to help with the training,” Medic Lurchesover replied as he dropped a torn patch into the waste bin.
“Isn’t he in the middle of a medical test?” she pressed.
“That he failed hours ago,” Medic Lurchesover said. “You’ll be doing him a favor if you wake him. Remember to do the sound now.”
Embracesgently wasn’t quite firm in the strokes of the thing, but waiving his medical consent to save time and help out did seem like something Human Friend John would do, even if it was, rather especially if it was of questionable legality. So she shuffled across to his slab and with some effort climbed up beside him.
“You need to be on a flat surface,” Medic Lurchesover gestured. “Chest, back, or lap.”
She obediently climbed up on Human Friend John’s wide ribcage, noting again the dark irregularities of scars that intersected his stripes at odd angles.
“Like this?” she asked as she began gently tapping out the words for attention on the central bony structure that supported his internal frame.
“Slower, and don’t forget the sound,” Medic Lurchesover instructed.
Embracesgently slowed her gestured and tried to mimic the sound Medic Lurchesover had been making. It was rather difficult, especially out of water, though she found that if she pulsed the waves from her own surface down into the cavity of Human Friend John’s chest she got better results. As she expected Human Friend John woke at the attention. The sounds he was making cut off with a gurgle and his lights brightened as his eyelids flickered open. He spent several long moments blinking as his bifocal eyes brought the Undulate on his chest into resolution.
Embracesgently continued the supposed soothing method, and despite Medic Lurchesover’s assurance was surprised to see the humans colors rippled as his tension dropped. His face finally stretched into a grin and one massive gripping appendage came up and patted Embracesgently in a soothing human greeting.
“Daw!” the human rumbled out. “Someone’s makin biscuits!”
His face split open in a cavernous yawn and he slumped back, now with contented light radiating out from his stripes. Embracesgently continued her actions until the dimming of his lights showed he was deeply asleep and then eased off the human and his slab. Medic Lurchesover looked rather smug from the set of his appendages but she could afford to be generous. If Human Friend Maria responded to the odd comfort gesture even an appendage as well as Human Friend John did they should begin the very next morning. Still one question was tickling her lagging appendages.
“What are biscuits?” she asked Medic Lurchesover, “and how does this gesture resemble making them?”

2023.05.29 21:09 Anxiety_Cookie I didn't think my meds worked until I stopped taking them

Yup... So, recently got diagnosed, and I didn't think my meds made a big difference but now I've been without them for 5 days and I'm exhausted, restless, and so nervous and anxious.. But I still can't make myself do anything besides chronically planning. I'm not allowed to take them since they wanted to look into some other stuff, which will take roughly 1.5 months. Since the meds didn't make me feel "good" (just significantly less shitty, anxious, overwhelmed, and paralyzed) I didn't know they where working as well as they did. That's the fun part about medication... You never know how well they're preventing something.
In last 2 days I've decided to renovate our hallway, I found every material, made nice lists etc... but then I also realised that we need a new ceiling lamp so I can see what I'm doing, but I've also been wanting to change the ceiling which I should do before I can get a lamp. After going back and forth we settled on fixing a lamp and redo the walls.
Now... I'm fighting every cell in my body not to SCRAPE the wall paper OFF. Because my clever and considered partner thinks "Hey wE ShoULd GeT PaiNT FiRst So wE CaN FiNnISh thE ProJeCT" - which is a good point, but AAAAAAAH I need to SCRAPE something off BADLY. Diablo 5 4 will release on Friday as well, so I really should wait with the scraping until then to know if I'm still interested. But...
HOW DO I RESIST SCRAPING OF THE DAMN WALLPAPER???! I NEED TO SCRAPE IT OFF NOW.
How is your day going?
Edit: I made chocolate date balls to keep me occupied. The anger from actively not stripping the wallpaper off turned into sadness. At least I have my date balls.
