2023.05.30 14:19 crillydougal M40 10 year relationship ended with trip in August planned with two of us to Vietnam/Thailand. Going separately now, never travelled alone before and we were introverted so used to always stay in hotels and do our own thing. Any advice?
We have travelled a lot all over the world together, and would do loads of activities during the day, chill on the beach, go for dinner and drinks in the evening. Obviously that has all changed, all of our plans have been cancelled so essentially starting from scratch except for the flights from Europe to Asia. It’s 3 weeks so was planning Hanoi, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and Hoi An. Honestly my main worry is that I could be days not talking to people and be lonely. I’m introverted as is my partner but we always had each other, we are very friendly but in short conversations normally. I’m a bit lost as to what to do and half considering just not going and losing the money on the flights and maybe doing shorter trips around Europe. From being in a relationship so long it’s almost like you lose confidence alone I think and rely on the other person.

2023.05.30 14:18 wutyouwant Flutter app violates the Device and Network Abuse policy
A submitted an app update a couple of days ago and received an email from Google Play Support stating:
Issue: Violation of Malicious Behavior policy
An app distributed via Google Play may not modify, replace, or update itself using any method other than Google Play's update mechanism. Likewise, an app may not download executable code (e.g. dex, JAR, .so files) from a source other than Google Play.
The update that was rejected was just a minor patch that updated a cope of UI elements. As far as I am aware my app doesn't violate this policy so I appealed and asked for clarification:
During review, we found that your app XXXXXX violates the Device and Network Abuse policy:
An app distributed via Google Play may not modify, replace, or update itself using any method other than Google Play's update mechanism. Likewise, an app may not download executable code (e.g. dex, JAR, .so files) from a source other than Google Play. This restriction does not apply to code that runs in a virtual machine or an interpreter where either provides indirect access to Android APIs (such as JavaScript in a webview or browser).
Apps or third-party code (e.g., SDKs) with interpreted languages (JavaScript, Python, Lua, etc.) loaded at run time (e.g., not packaged with the app) must not allow potential violations of Google Play policies.
For example, your app is downloading executable code from https://objects.githubusercontent.com
None of the code I have written makes a request to objects.githubusercontent.com so I am a little confused as to what is going on here. All I can think is that it is coming from the Flutter SDK or one of the plugins that I'm using - but I'm not sure how to determine this, or why it would suddenly have become a problem when none of these things have changed.
Does anybody have any idea what might be going on and how I can fix the issue?

2023.05.30 14:16 uallsucktodeath Clarity on the legal position with respect to charging of service charge
I believe that to understand any governmental legal action, understanding the intent behind the same is of utmost importance to figure out whether there has been a violation of the guidelines or not. And also understanding the guidelines in great detail. I have tried to simplify all this for you and hope it helps.
A number of grievances were reported against mandatory levy of service charges by hotels and restaurants.
In pursuance of the same, and having taken note of, among other things, the following, the ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution issued guidelines (dated 21st April 2017), ‘Guidelines on fair trade practices related to charging of service charge from consumers by hotels/restaurants’.
a. Consumers were paying tip to waiters in addition of the service charges being charged, under the impression that service charges are a part of ‘taxes’. b. In some cases, hotels/restaurants restrained consumers from entering their premises if they were not in prior agreement to pay mandatory service charge.
Through the guidelines (
https://consumeraffairs.nic.in/sites/default/files/file-uploads/latestnews/Guidelines.pdf), the government established the following:
a. The customer can only be charged the prices (along with applicable taxes) as displayed on the menu, as that is what he agrees (consents to) to pay by placing an order. He cannot be charged any additional charges than the ones stated on the menu (which may lead to the conclusion that if a hotel/restaurant places it on their menu as to what the service charges are to be paid by the customer, then the customer may be obligated to pay the same). b. Considering a customer’s mere entry to a hostel/restaurant amounting to his consent to pay a fixed amount of service charge is incorrect as a customer only decides whether to pay a tip or not after having completed his meal and assessing the quality of the services. Basically, the act of paying ‘service charges’ is associated with the ‘voluntariness’ of the customer based on his assessment of the services of the hotel/restaurant (is what I can interpret from the guidelines – the department basically intended to equate service charged to a tip paid by a customer – thereby clarifying that they are not a part of any ‘taxes’ – and also that it would be unfair for a customer to pay a tip above and beyond the service charges under the impression that the latter are a part of ‘taxes’ while actually tip and service charges are the same). c. The bill ‘may’ clearly display that services charge is voluntary, and service charge column may be left blank for the customer to fill it up before making the payment (usage of the word may implying that places are not yet obligated to display the same).
A number of grievances were registered on the national consumer helpline regarding levy of service charge by restaurants and hotels in the bill by default, without informing that same is voluntary and optional. The authority also noted that such service charge was being levied in addition to the total price of food items and taxes, in guise of some other fee or charge (thus, such charges neither being a part of the price of the food items or the charge of applicable taxes).
Thus, on 4th July 2022, central consumer protection authority issued the following guidelines to prevent unfair trade practices and protect consumers’ interest with regard to levy of service charge in hotels and restaurants (which are in addition to the ministry of consumer affair guidelines issued on 21.4.2017):
a. Similar to the ministry of consumer affairs, this authority also noted that the customer can only be charged the prices (along with applicable taxes) as displayed on the menu, as that is what he agrees (consents to) to pay by placing an order. He cannot be charged any additional charges than the ones stated on the menu (which may lead to the conclusion that if a hotel/restaurant places it on their menu as to what the service charges are to be paid by the customer, then the customer may be obligated to pay the same). b. A customer only decides whether to pay a tip or not after having completed his meal and assessing the quality of the services. c. Unlike the ministry of consumer affairs, this authority clearly stated that no hotel/restro ‘shall’: 1. add service charge automatically, 2. collect such charge under any other name, 3. force consumer to pay such charge 4. restrict entry or provision of services on basis of collection of service charge 5. add the service charge along with the food bill and levy GST on the entire amount (which can clearly be tallied by the consumer by crosschecking the prices on the bill with that in the menu) d. moreover, every hotel/restro ‘shall’ inform consumer that service charge is voluntary. e. The guidelines have also provided the recourse a consumer can take in case he feels there has been a violation of the same.
Now, let’s look at the interpretation of the courts of the guidelines issued and what the legal status of the guidelines is as of today:
Delhi high court: The National Restaurants Association of India even challenged the legality of the said guidelines.
Order dated July 20, 2022: stayed the operation of the CCPA guidelines till the next court order (discussed below, april 18, 2023 one) – basically meaning the guidelines won’t be operative and restaurants can charge the service charge (however, to do the same, restaurants must ensure that they display the obligation of the customer to pay such charges on the menu or other places). At the same time, it must be noted that, such service charge cannot be applied on take away items.
Order dated April 18, 2023:
a. Establishments must not show the order dated july 20, 2022 as meaning that service charge has been approved by the court.
So, basically, order dated July 20, 2022 is still applicable and continuing. And the matter regarding legality of the CCPA guidelines is still pending in court.
In conclusion: establishments can charge service charge if they display the same on their menu. Such charge is not applicable on take away orders.

So as part of my practice, I was asking my ancestors for guidance and inviting them to give me a dream on how I should movie forward.
Bro. Wtf is this:
I had a dream my family and I were at a hotel where we had separate rooms.
Apparently I linked with a dude on an app and he came over and we started having sex but he was very obviously a merch head who could barely focus.
Routinely, we kept getting interrupted during the act. People knocking on the door, food delivery, etc.
Until finally when we are alone he is just chilling and eating chips as I’m trying to do the thing. Like putting in no effort, just sitting there.

2023.05.30 14:12 ClemsonLaxer Reasonable Comp for Delay + No AC
Tldr: Sat on tarmac for ~1 hour with no AC in 95 weather to the point that I was feeling woozy from the heat
Flight delayed 3+ hours due to air conditioning issue
Have to stay overnight in ATL due to missed connection/late night arrival and now am missing work and am super sleep-deprived.
What's reasonable here?
Details:
I'm curious what you all think reasonable compensation for my very much not fun return trip from Tucson to JFK as I have usually been fairly lucky with flying so I haven't had to go down this route before.
Flight back from Tucson was to depart at 1:25pm Monday. We board and it's hot in the cabin. Not too surprising, as it's 95 outside. Turns out the air conditioning wasn't working so they call maintenance. We had already moved away from gate at this point so we move back to gate. Welll, we sit there for more than an hour in the heat and I'm sweating my butt off and actually start feeling sick from the heat. Eventually they deplane us because it's so hot in the cabin.
Well, I have a connection in ATL that I won't make now.
AC eventually gets fixed and we take off around 4:45pm , so >3 hour delay. We did all get a meal voucher.
Talk to agents and there wasn't any flights that would get me back to NYC that evening so they booked me for a morning flight today and give me a hotel voucher.
Very frustrating as I have work today sooo looks like I get to burn one of my limited amount of vacation days (don't have a laptop with me).
Get to Atlanta and back to hotel after midnight. Booked for a 7am flight but realize after getting back to hotel I can't check into flight. Message support and they claim it might be a system outage so I should try later or get to the airport earlier and check with people then.
I then call support and they see I got booked for two different flights this morning so they eventually fix the issue. But this is after being on hold for 30+ minutes and by now it's 2am. Hello, 3 hours of sleep.

2023.05.30 14:10 EthanRuiLi12345 What should I do 😭
Hello Trojans! I am a newly admitted student for Marshall School of Business for Spring 2024. Marshall is absolutely amazing! And I am very excited for that.
However………….. I am currently very stressed out on deciding whether I should SIR to UCLA or USC. In context, I got all FAFSA stuff done so UCLA already give me financial aid packages (net cost $11.7k, which is great), but for USC my dumbass forgot to do the CSS Profile (I submitted it late) so I still haven’t received my financial aid packages yet.
If UCLA and USC costs the same for me, I'll choose USC at a heartbeat.
But it’s still too early for me to make decision rn, because I didn’t know how much financial aid USC is gonna give me. UCLA's SIR deadline is June 1st but USC's is August 1st. What should I do? Is it okay that I SIR UCLA first but also SIR USC on August as well? Will I get into trouble for that?

Any potential mass shooter in the United States is almost assuredly aware by now that virtually anybody with access to guns and ammo or the money requisite to purchase such things can check out of life in a more influential way than their own suicide. Is this a good camera to buy? I want a Fujifilm but they’re just too much to spring for. This seemed like a nice alternative.

2023.05.30 14:08 ProductPlayful5181 Seeking a Partner for a Hotel Stay and Timeshare Presentation in DC - Totally Platonic!
Hey everyone! I know this is a bit of a long shot, but here goes. I (33M) had a prepaid trip to the Capital Hill Hilton in DC for a two-night stay. Originally, my wife was supposed to join me, but she recently found out she has to attend a bachelorette party on the same weekend, which unfortunately clashes with our plans.
Here's the deal: I can't cancel the hotel because it's tied to a free stay offer for attending a 2-hour timeshare presentation. I've done these presentations before with Hilton, and I always decline the offer and manage to get out in less than two hours. So, I'm in need of someone to join me during the presentation and act as my partner (totally platonic, of course!).
If you're up for it, you can also stay at the hotel and enjoy the trip. I know it might sound a bit unconventional, but I assure you, I am happily married, and this arrangement would be strictly for the purpose of attending the presentation together and me getting my free hotel and Hilton points bonus. Plus, I consider myself a pretty knowledgeable tour guide, so I can show you around DC and make the trip even more enjoyable!
So, if you're interested in a free stay at a nice hotel, an adventure in DC, and helping a fellow Redditor out, let me know! Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Looking forward to finding a partner for this unique experience!
TL;DR: Need someone to join me at a timeshare presentation in DC's Capital Hill Hilton. It's totally platonic, and you get a free stay at the hotel. Let me know if you're interested in exploring DC and helping me out!

2023.05.30 14:08 CosmicAwesome2118 25M- Would I be able to tell the difference between a sinus infection caused by a tooth v a regular sinus infection?
Like the title says. I've been dealing with sinus problems for a few weeks now and one of the recurring symptoms I've had is a pressure on my upper gums. While I know this is a normal symptom of a regular sinus infection it scared me a bit because I haven't had that symptom with other sinus infections that I've had. Now this is my first spring in a new state so that might be the cause of different symptoms. I just didn't know if I would be able to tell the difference between an infection caused by a tooth v regular sinuses. My individual teeth don't hurt and I don't see any abscess on the gums so I don't think its my tooth, but I want a second opinion before I go to the dentist.
