EXPANDING ON RELEVANT POINTS
Acts 2:14-47 Peter’s much discussed farewell speech to the Ephesians (Min 22:20 in sermon The Day of Pentecost) Like many mainstream preachers Pastor Gary Hamrick talks about the parallel of the giving of the Law to Moses happening on Pentecost (but 3000 people died) and Peter’s speech also on Pentecost moved 3000 people to be saved. How momentous this giving of the Law versus giving of the Spirit, should be highlighted.
Pastor Matt Chandler states that this section of Acts, helps us understand how the early church multiplied.
Acts 2:42-47 used by Gracepoint to justify the culture Personally emulating the characteristics of early church, (in rereading/listening to the Gracepoint’s mission statement, video narrative about being an Acts2 church) seems quite “myopic” to me now. I looked into the emphases that Gracepoint Church expounds : fellowship, daily sharing meals and possessions together, communal living, and came to these discussions:
Pastor Gary Hamrick in more than 1 sermon outlined that in the time of the early church, believers of Jesus are the minority and were ostracized — the majority of people “cancelled” them and refused to sell or buy goods and services from them. As such, the shared belief and common burdens of Jesus’ early followers united them, strengthened their resolve, and pooling possessions was a means of taking care of each other materially.
He clearly warns us that socialism where it would lead to people having no incentive to work since wealth is redistributed to others, is not what is being taught in the Bible. In fact the Bible teaches the virtues of hard work in many verses and we are not to expect other people to give you free stuff. It was survivalism, not socialism.
Hence, I conclude that it is wrong (ie. overblown threat, wrong culture) for Gracepoint leadership to teach a culture like the early church in the current times.
(Source: Four Foundations sermon, Pastor Gary Hamrick)
The following article
https://hub.emmausroadsf.com/sermons/2022/1/23/why-we-are-devoted-to-one-another-acts-242-47 even succinctly states this on their website:
Now, Acts 2:42-47 is easily misread. It's misread when it is taken as prescriptive rather than descriptive. In other words, Acts 2 is not prescribing a formula for building the perfect church. Neither was it given to you by God as a rubric for criticizing the believers around you for and all the ways they fail to live up to your idea of a perfect church.
REFLECTIONS AND CONCLUSIONS
Is it alright amongst Christians to disagree? Endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, Ephesians 4:3-13 (Min 2:37) Pastor Gary Hamrick speaks about Paul exhorting that Christians are to “endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. “Differences from a Christian perspective need to be brought together into the lordship of Jesus Christ so that God’s people can be in harmony. Now that does not mean that we will agree on everything, we won’t. But it does mean, that related to non-salvation issues and the baptism of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit..(truncated due to repetition).. we can have discussion, we can even have gentle debates but we should never have division..”
What can the rest of us do, and what can Ed Kang and Team do? “..You are never more free than when you have no secrets..” Owning up to our desires, God knows what is in each of us, Pastor Matt of The Village Church exhorts (min 20:58 & 30:45) —
that we are to own up that we fall short. He goes on to say
“..if you live your life in such a way that if one of your friends, or your spouse or your child could come to you and go “ guess what I found..” And you got a bit of panic in you..
if you.. live in a duplicitous life..then you understand the weight of keeping quiet about your sin.. of hiding the truth about you.. of trying to pretend to be more than you are…(truncated) …you cannot fix yourself (like the rest of us)..”
Pastor Ed, why wouldn’t you take the lead and as an example admit that you have sinned/fallen short? That you and your team have made mistakes along the way in your ministry, starting with being humble.
To proclaim the gospel, we must urge repentance, isn’t it?
I have learnt that Church should be a community of truth and grace. And to emulate Jesus is to be compassionate and forgiving, isn't it? It sounds like you have not shown your ex-members and current members these traits since many years ago, based on their accounts.
Have you forgotten Jesus’ love for you? Don’t our hearts soften when we turn to Jesus?
Why call yourself Tentmakers when you cannot align to what Paul taught in Ephesus?

2023.05.25 17:54 ADDAnxious To Ed Kang - Have you embraced Acts 20:17-38 and earnestly work towards the church Paul envisioned us to be? (long post)
The recent post “Is this really what church is supposed to be like?” got me thinking —
why don’t I reread what Acts2 verses actually taught? What did Peter say the early church was expected to do?
In fact, in mainstream Christian teachings and interpretations, two sections in the Book of Acts overwhelmingly focus on Peter’s famous preaching on the Day of Pentecost, and Paul’s farewell speech to the Ephesians.
I welcome discussion on each point where anyone reading can recall where PED and team have preached sound doctrine, and where he has fallen short/confused new believers. I have also learnt that Acts 20:17-38 are often taught to ministers-to-be and elders, as the job description of ministry and becoming a true shepherd.
In the list, I have used the 7 marks of effective ministry outlined by Pastor Skip Heitzig of Calvary Church and added from the other sources (Note: pastors quoted at verbatim, are indicated in “..” )
At the end of the post are my sources, sermons or articles with links for those who need the references)
Acts 20:17-38 Paul’s much discussed farewell speech to the Ephesians
- Paul lived an open life
“Public ministry is somewhat like a fishbowl” — he lived amongst the people he was preaching to, they watched his life and heard his messages
- Shepherds are to be humble
- With many tears
“Mature ministry must face difficulties.. they come with trials and hardships” Pastor Heitzig preaches “A third mark of effective ministry, or at least mature ministry, is hardships. If you are going to be worth your salt in serving the Lord, you must face difficulty. It’s what hones you. It’s what God uses as sandpaper to knock off your rough edges…. “Some people get into the ministry because they love to be in front of people, and they love people to approve what they do. They seek for human approval.” This profoundly begs the question: why are you Ed Kang, changing the Gracepoint name instead of facing up to your hardships?
- Balance in ministry
Paul said “I preached and aI taught”, Pastor Heitzig goes on to explain “..I think there needs to be in ministry pulpit ministry, a balance. Preaching is necessary, proclaiming is necessary, but so is teaching. If every week you just get preached to, but you don’t get instructed how to, you won’t grow. If every week ..you need to love more, you need to serve more, you need to do this more..you can preach and exhort all day long, but the poor sheep are wondering, how do I love more, how do I serve more? ..”
- Sensitivity to the HS
I realized in this exploration, what the members of this platform had repeatedly mentioned that the Holy Spirit is the main “star” in Acts2 beginning when the Church is born — yet Gracepoint leaders Pastor Ed hardly emphasized in his sermons, the HS. Pastor Gary Hamrick stated that the HS is mentioned 56 times in the Book of Acts, more than anywhere else in the Bible!
- Like Paul pastors should have determination and to give all the Word of God
Acts 20:24 “..my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace..” He had the heart of love for the Jewish people, and he wants to save them despite the impending dangers and predictions. While preachers usually have pet topics, they are to give “all the word of God” as written in verse 27, “..to proclaim to you the whole will of God”. Preachers are to go through the whole Scripture, give sermons on the uncomfortable topics, because this way the students would “get it all, with God’s emphases and God’s balance”.
- Protection of the sheep
Pastor Heitzig explains Jesus’ statement of “I am the door” how shepherds would lie down at the opening of the herd compound. In the same way a good pastor protects God’s flock — and I conclude should look into allegations of poor mental health and abuse, if so true and even if perpetrated by other levels of leadership within Gracepoint.

Star Trek (in contrast to, say,
Star Trek Into Darkness) without being a pure rip-off (like, um, also
Star Trek Into Darkness). The returning
TNG icons, Picard prime among them, evolve in major, meaningful ways, reckon with the consequences of their past actions, and deliver long-awaited closure for themselves and the audience. They’re old characters, but they’re not the

Quotes:
"[...]
The ‘Star Trek’ sequel set out to eschew nostalgia and chart a new course. But after a disastrous second season, ‘Picard’ set a new heading and brought back its legacy characters—and just may have authored the greatest course correction in the history of the small screen.
[...]
Top Any-Season IMDb Rating Increases (English-Language)
[...]
IMDb stats in the article [...]
Picard’s ascent in perceived quality is so steep that even if we remove the constraint of consecutive seasons and simply look for the biggest rating hikes between
any season and any subsequent season, it still easily tops the list. In other words, no qualifying series—including famous slow starters such as
The Office,
Breaking Bad,
Schitt’s Creek,
Seinfeld,
Parks and Recreation, or even
Star Trek: TNG itself—has ever raised its game in spectators’ eyes as substantially from one season to another over
any part of its run as
Picard did in adjacent seasons that were shot back-to-back.
Even the new and improved Picard was far from perfect. The exposition and technobabble were onerous even by Star Trek standards. Every other scene seemed to end with two characters staring at each other as the dramatic score swelled. The show still largely didn’t know what to do with Raffi (Michelle Hurd), the lone holdover original
Picard character. And the constant callbacks to
TNG and its sequel films would have been baffling to anyone who hadn’t seen them (or revisited them in the past few decades). On a shot-by-shot, line-by-line level,
Picard’s camerawork and script can’t stack up to the best of prestige TV.
Yet there’s much more about the series to celebrate, and not just in contrast to the painful lows of Season 2. Some of the season’s appeal is a testament to the combo of comedy, catharsis, and pathos dished out by writer, director, and
Star Trek superfan Terry Matalas, who served as sole showrunner in Season 3 after teaming up with the, um, inconsistent Akiva Goldsman in Season 2. (Michael Chabon oversaw Season 1.) Of course, a cook is only as good as his ingredients: Much of the scripts’ special taste is attributable to the cast, from Stewart on down. The old guys (and gals, and androids) have still got it. And some of the excitement stems from the special effects, which make large-scale space combat look as convincing as it ever has in
Star Trek.
In the abstract, there’s something slightly deflating about a character who made his mark by boldly going where no one had gone before failing to escape the gravity well of a series that went off the air almost 30 years ago, and about a cast whose last big-screen turn together came more than 20 years ago. That
Picard had to reach for the memberberries to right the ship is part and parcel with the other recent triumphs of
Star Trek TV: the old-school structure of
Strange New Worlds (a prequel to
The Original Series) and the animated,
TNG-worshipping sitcom
Lower Decks. Both of those shows, whose second and fourth seasons, respectively, will air this summer, are utter delights. But although they put their own spins on the franchise’s episodic formula, they’re also love letters to
Trek shows of old, as is
Picard’s third season. Meanwhile,
Picard’s earlier attempts to put the past behind it floundered, and the trailblazing
Star Trek: Discovery’s leap 900 years into the future yielded the
lowest-user-rated season in
Star Trek history.
In practice, though, it’s hard to feel despondent or cynical about this recycling, and not just because it’s
not unique to Trek. For one thing,
Star Trek is still trying some new things, including the kid-centric
Prodigy, the forthcoming, teen-oriented
Starfleet Academy, and the just-announced
Section 31, which will star Michelle Yeoh’s
Discovery character and touch off a planned series of streaming movies that may make up for the sorry state of the stalled film franchise. Even
Picard finds time to introduce new blood. Although the breakout character of the first two seasons, Cristobal Rios (Santiago Cabrera), is—unlike almost every other jettisoned character and plotline from pre-reboot
Picard—sorely missed, Ed Speleers is sympathetic and dynamic as Jack Crusher, Todd Stashwick makes a great foil for seat-of-their-pants Picard and Riker as by-the-book captain Liam Shaw, and Amanda Plummer brings a mesmerizing Forest-Whitaker-in-
Star-
Wars-meets-Gary-Oldman-in-
The-
Fifth-
Element energy to new Changeling villain Vadic.
What’s more, while Picard does dip into and look back at the past much more than Stewart wanted it to when he signed up to reprise the role, it’s not stuck there. (Unlike Rios, who chose to stay in the 21st century when Picard and Co. literally traveled into the past in Season 2.) The season stays true to the essence of
Star Trek (in contrast to, say,
Star Trek Into Darkness) without being a pure rip-off (like, um, also
Star Trek Into Darkness).
The returning TNG icons, Picard prime among them, evolve in major, meaningful ways, reckon with the consequences of their past actions, and deliver long-awaited closure for themselves and the audience. They’re old characters, but they’re not the
same old characters. The Enterprise-D may look almost identical—which makes its retro bridge a sight for
Star Trek fans’ sore eyes—but Picard is different as a dad, Data is different as a fully feeling being, and Worf is different as a meditative peacekeeper.
Picard unapologetically revels in getting the gang back together, from its nonstop audiovisual Easter eggs to its many meta acknowledgments of the cast’s gratitude about being back together again to its lingering, loving looks at the Enterprise, a tradition that dates back to the spacedock scene in
Star Trek: The Motion Picture. At times,
Picard leans almost laughably far into nostalgia through its use of actual clips from
TNG, its contrived “only the olds can save a compromised Starfleet from the Borg” twist, and its vast assemblage of guest stars and cameos. (Tuvok! Ro Laren! Elizabeth Shelby! The Borg Queen! Anton Chekov! Professor Moriarty!)
Yet it’s all so earnest that it feels more like appreciation than pandering. It’s hard not to have a good time with a cast that’s clearly having such a good time with one another.
[...]
Whether or not the story seeds planted this season sprout into a continuing mission,
Picard proved, just in time, that there was life left in a long-dormant, deeply beloved property. In the end, the sequel’s resistance to picking up the mantle of
TNG was futile. And for fans of
Star Trek, resistance to the charms of what might be the most improved series of all time is probably futile too."

2023.05.23 18:08 apikoros18 I've been using GPT-4 to write TV Guide summaries of 80's sitcoms that never happened
"Different Strokes" - "A Turn of the Times" (30 min) In a poignant and provocative episode, the Drummond family's beloved housekeeper, Adelaide, comes down with what seems to be a common cold. When it proves to be a far more serious illness, the family grapples with the realities of healthcare disparities and political divides. Conservative patriarch, Mr. Drummond, has his beliefs challenged, having to confront the impacts of a global pandemic on his doorstep. Prepare for an unexpected emotional journey that explores the intersection of politics, health, and family. Viewer discretion is advised due to sensitive themes.
"THE GOLDEN GIRLS - "Pyramids in Miami" (NEW) Dorothy grows suspicious of Blanche's peculiar behavior and a strange ancient Egyptian amulet found in her room. When Blanche makes a shocking revelation about being the reincarnation of the Pharaoh Nefertiti, the girls must band together to convince her otherwise - and possibly save humanity in the process. This episode is a hilarious mixture of friendship, history, and the occasional paranormal, reminding us why we love our ladies from Miami. Laughs abound in this light-hearted approach to the question of past lives."
Healing Strokes - Different Strokes, Season 12, Episode 8 In this deeply moving episode, Arnold (Gary Coleman) confronts lingering trauma from a harrowing incident at a bike shop. As he grapples with his experiences and how racial differences compound them, he starts attending therapy and finds strength in sharing his struggles with other children facing similar challenges. Arnold's journey takes a positive turn as he begins to overcome his fear, even revisiting the bike shop with the support of his brother, Willis (Todd Bridges), and father, Mr. Drummond (Conrad Bain). Adding a touch of 80s nostalgia, Arnold references the iconic "Knight Rider" series starring David Hasselhoff, using it as a catalyst to address the importance of racial representation in media. This episode showcases Arnold's resilience, focusing on the healing process and the importance of seeking help when needed.

2023.05.22 16:53 BlueRayBodhi Encounters with Non-Physical Intelligence
I've been interacting with several non-physical beings for less than a decade; I don't know exactly how long this has been occurring because I don't keep track of time and I occasionally have flashbacks to previous interactions. Some of the sightings/interactions have been witnessed by others, but the majority have been private. I know some here have had similar experiences, and many feel like something big is coming. Well, there may be an answer as to what and who is coming in an unlikely source. I feel like the non-physical beings are asking me to share this information.
I was guided to a book called "A True Story: Chang Hsiang Chien's Adventures on the Alien Planet GOK in 1985." The book's translation is pretty rough, but it was a compelling read. There's a lot of sex, physics, adventure, and discussion on social structure. Anyway, there's a section in the book where one of the characters mentions that it is better for everyone to show up when a civilization develops the ability for interstellar travel. When I say everyone, I mean everyone in the galaxy who has the ability to travel among the stars. They all show up at the same time.
It's my opinion that interstellar and interdimensional travel exists on Earth, but exists in secret. There are rumors of secret space programs and collaboration with ETs, etc. that you are likely familiar with. Also, teleportation, telekenesis, etc., they are all real and exist, and many of these skills/tech also exist on Earth. Some abilities are based on tech, but some are based on innate abilities to interact with the fabric of reality. It seems that you can arrive at the same place by either cultivating the spirit or developing technology: neither is right nor wrong. It is the ability to travel among the stars, however, that, I think, is responsible for the increase in talk of disclosure and the significant increase in sightings around the world.
Also, in the book, Willow, who is an alien female, (I think Willow is the who mentions it in the book, but it might be one of the other characters), talks about how chaos is a natural part of the transition to the stars, in part because the old ways become irrelevant. She mentions that her planet had a nuclear war, and that it was intensely chaotic when they were transitioning to an intergalactic civilization. I suspect financial systems tend to change around the time a civilization becomes eligible for this introduction to the broader intergalactic community. Enlightenment also seems to expand beyond a tiny percent of the population to the default setting for all.
Furthermore, how would you prepare a primitive civilization for imminent contact? Probably a slow release of information. We have alien craft (NYT article + Gary Nolan's recent talk), Space Force, SciFi revelations (e.g. Star Trek), and the release of vague and innocuous videos/photos of limited interactions. There are other ways, too, that are beyond the conventional. Maybe some UFOs and light ships might start making themselves known to those who know they exist? Perhaps you would influence the dream state and show a sky full of UFOs? Maybe you abduct some people so that they will write a book and tell everyone about what happened.
Although I don't fully know what is happening, I'm confident that our world is irreversibly changing, and there is a mass awakening on the horizon.

turns out, the Weaponization of our Federal Agencies goes far beyond just the FBI, DOJ, and NARA. now the GateKeepers at the SEC have been restricting Truth Social’s access to our Public Capital Markets by simply refusing to approve DWAC’s prerequisite standard S-4 SPAC form, effectively stonewalling the amicable merger between the SPAC known as DWAC & Trump Media & Technology Group (Truth Social’s parent company) that would allow for a fair competition to take place
because in order for Truth Social to compete FAIRLY with the likes of any other Big Tech Corporation that, in sharp contrast, has already been granted access to our Public Capital Markets, likewise Truth Social would also need hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars from the public as well, or else it could easily end up remaining a pinned down Underdog with a long uphill battle to the top, which it promises to pursue regardless of the outcome of this predicament
the SEC does this hundreds, if not thousands of times a year for all the other SPACs it reviews; and it typically only takes around 3-6 months, but this particular time, the SEC is stonewalling the process by simply sitting on their hands
DWAC has now waited for over an ENTIRE YEAR now for the SEC to even BEGIN the processing of DWAC’s S-4 registration statement
now if anyone does a little digging, they will discover revelations confirming clear as day conflicts of interests leading to bold abuses of power to stop a political opponent by tracing the origins of the people who just so happen to be in charge of the Agency all the way back to the very Russia, Russia, Russia Hoaxers themselves
Biden appointed Gary Gensler to be the Chairman of the SEC. Gensler was also Hillary Clinton’s Campaign CFO/Treasurer, and approved payments to Perkins Coie to reimburse for the work that the Fusion GPS research firm and Steele did on the infamous discredited Steele Dossier
Peter Strzok was the lead FBI Investigator of the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax; his wife, Melissa Hodgman, is running point as Associate Director of Enforcement at the SEC
likewise, SEC General Counsel Megan Barbero worked on the two failed impeachments of @realDonaldTrump
Truth Social just successfully launched a brand new “Groups” feature this weekend. the fact that they are operating on fumes and still making progress and holding their ground is a testament to the potential that lies in store for them
it’s also worth noting that TMTG plans to do MUCH more than just market & develop it’s social media platform. namely, it plans to also compete with the Main Stream News industry as well (once the aforementioned funds come in), hence the name: Trump Media & Technology Group, or TMTG
also worth noting that Rumble Video is a close partner and ally of Truth Social & TMTG that provides a lot of the backend infrastructure for Truth Social
Rumble has already successfully went public via the SPAC route without any issues from the SEC (NASDAQ Ticker: RUM)

2023.05.21 21:48 icky_vicinity23 How the Rothschilds took over the World (by CatEyes420). Long but extremely informative and necessary to understand who runs the world, why Trump, Clintons, Biden are puppets, and why Putin and Zelensky are puppets of the Rothschild NWO Banking Cartel. Modern Ukraine formed in 1917 by Rothschilds
Amschel Moses Rothschild was born in about 1710. He was a German Jewish silk trader and money changer in the Judengasse (Jewstreet) in Frankfurt. Around 1743 he placed a red hexagram sign (which numerically and geometrically convert into the number 666) above the entrance of his door. His house was also red in color.
Within two centuries, the Rothschild, instructed this hexagram sign to be made part of the Israeli flag 🇮🇱. He had 8 children with Schönche Lechnich, one of his sons, Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812), is the founder of the Rothschild banking dynasty. He marries Guttle SchnappeSchönche Lechnich (Rothschild) in 1770, and they have 10 children together.
Around 1760, Mayer Amschel Bauer worked for a bank owned by the Oppenheimer (are part of Rothschild family/married, had children together..). Mayer was very successful and became a junior partner, where he meets General von Estorff.
After Mayer Amschel Bauer’s father Moses Amschel Bauer died, Mayer changed his name from Bauer to Rothschild (Rot = red / Schild = sign).
Mayer Amschel Rothschild and his sons establish what was known as the Five Arrows of Banking. These golden arrows can be seen on the eagle’s talons visible on the coat of arms city from Frankfurt, Germany. It represented the 5 sons who managed the global banking Houses of the Rothschild which included:
• Frankfurt • London • Paris • Vienna • Napl
Mayer discovers that General von Estorff is aquatinted with the court of Prince William IX, Landgrave of Hesse-Hanau (known today as Hesse-Kassel) (married?). The royal house of William obtained its’ wealth by the hiring out or exporting their soldiers to foreign countries for major profit.
Mayer began selling William IX rare trinkets, treasures, and coins at extra low prices. Eventually, as planned, Mayer is introduced to the Prince himself, who is delighted with the modified prices. Mayer even offers the prince a perk for any new business opportunities, William could direct his way. As a result, Mayer Amschel Rothschild and Prince William join forces and become business accomplices.
In 1769, Prince William grants Mayer approval to hang a sign on his business storefront declaring that he is, “M. A. Rothschild, by appointment court factor to his serene highness, Prince William of Hanau.”
In 1773, Amschel Mayer Rothschild is born, eventually he would take over the Frankfurt bank. He is the first of Mayer’s sons who will all eventually enter the family business at 12 years of age. He is followed by Salomon Mayer Rothschild, in 1774.
In 1776, Mayer Amschel Rothschild creates the Illuminati and hands over the organizations development to Adam Weishaupt. Weishaupt sneaks in the Continental Order of Freemasons with this Illuminati doctrine. This doctrine claims a new order for the human race under the dictatorship of Satan and his supporters. This view is accepted and spread like a wildfire and is pursued in Masonic Lodges worldwide to this day.
In 1777, Nathan Mayer Rothschild is born, who is followed by Kalmann (Carl) Mayer Rothschild/Carl Mayer Freiherr von Rothschild in 1788. Carl is the founder of the Rothschild banking family of Naples. He had child named Adolf Carl....
In 1791, Alexander Hamilton, (a Rothschild representative in George Washington’s cabinet) and the Rothschilds, infiltrated a central bank in the newly established United States colonies. This bank was know as the Bank of the United States and was organized with a 20 year charter.
“Jacob” or “James” Mayer de Rothschild or Baron de Rothschild is born in 1792. Originally named Jakob Mayer Rothschild. He is the youngest child of Mayer. He was a German-French banker and is the founder of the French banking branch of the Rothschild family. He had 5 children.
Amschel Mayer Rothschild marries Eva Hanau in 1796.
In 1798, Mayer, grants his son, Nathan Mayer Rothschild, a major sum of money, and sends him to England, to advance the family interests in importing textile. This allowed him to establish a bank in the City of London known as N. M. Rothschild & Sons.
In 1806, Prince William, escapes Germany and assigns his $3,000,000 fortune over to Mayer Amschel Rothschild for guardianship, because Napoleon made it his objective to abolish the rulership and influence of the house of Hess-Cassel.
Nathan Mayer also marries Rothschild Hannah Barent Cohen during this time.
In 1808, Nathan Mayer Rothschild has his first child, Lionel Nathan de Rothschild.
In 1810, Mayer entered into a formal partnership agreement with his three eldest sons. Abraham Goldsmid and Sir Francis Baring die, leaving Nathan Mayer Rothschild as the last major remaining banker in England.
Salomon Mayer Rothschild launches the bank, M. von Rothschild und Söhne in Vienna, Austria. And Calmann ("Carl") established the branch in Naples, Italy.
The youngest son Jacob, was sent to Paris in 1811, strengthening the family's ability to operate across Europe by opening the bank “de Rothschild Frères. This allowed them to profit by funding the Wellington's armies in Portugal, which required them to secure large quantities of gold in favor of the British government.
The charter established between the Rothschild and the Bank of the United States in 1791 runs out in 1811 and Congress decided to vote against its renewal.
Andrew Jackson (7th President of the U.S. from 1829 to 1837) stated, “If Congress has a right under the Constitution to issue paper money, it was given them to use by themselves, not to be delegated to individuals or corporations.”
Nathan Mayer Rothschild replied, “Either the application for renewal of the charter is granted, or the United States will find itself involved in a most disastrous war.”
In 1812, Britain, which was supported by the Rothschild empire, declared war on the United States. The Rothschilds systematically arranged this war to cause the United States to build up a major debt due to them defending themselves. Eventually, they would have to surrender which forced them to renew the charter for the Rothschild owned Bank of the United States.
Mayer Amschel Rothschild perishes. In his will, he establishes very specific rules that the Rothschild must obey:
• All major positions in the family business may only be held by family members; specifically only male members, which included a rumored sixth bastard son. (Mayer Amschel also had five daughters. Their Zionist empire also included mixed offspring of Jewish decent.) • In order to preserve their fortune they had to intermarry with their first and second cousins (16 of the 18 marriages between Mayers’ grandchildren were between first cousins). • No publication of their estates or inventory • no legal action was to be taken with respect to the value of their fortune • The oldest son of the oldest son was to become the head of the family, but this could be reversed if the bulk of the family decided otherwise.
The $3,000,000 entrusted to Mayer by Prince William is accounted for in the Jewish Encyclopaedia, 1905 edition, Volume 10, page 494, which states, “According to legend this money was hidden away in wine casks, and, escaping the search of Napoleon’s soldiers when they entered Frankfurt, was restored intact in the same casks in 1814, when the elector (Prince William IX of Hesse-Hanau) returned to the electorate (Germany). The facts are somewhat less romantic, and more businesslike.”
The money was never truly “returned” by Rothschild to Prince William, instead their families married each other for business purposes, to keep the money hidden and allowing both families to gain and grow the empire. The encyclopaedia also states, “Nathan Mayer Rothschild invested this $3,000,000 in, gold from the East India Company knowing that it would be needed for Wellington’s peninsula campaign.” The Rothschilds made, “no less than four profits: 1. i) On the sale of Wellington’s paper which he bought at 50 cents on the dollar and collected at par; 2. ii) on the sale of gold to Wellington; 3. iii) on its repurchase; and 4. iv) on forwarding it to Portugal.”
In 1815, the Rothschild brothers started their policy of financing both sides of the wars by the suppling them with gold Wellington’s army (Nathan in England) and Napoleon’s army (Jacob in France).
Since these brothers had banks spread out across Europe, it allowed them to set up an unmatched postal service grid of secret routes and couriers allowing them to be one step ahead of the crowd.
These couriers were the only ones allowed to pass through the French and English blockades, which then reported back to Nathan and kept him up to date with how the war was going allowing him to buy/sell stock successfully.
When the war ended and the British defeated Napoleon, Nathan, through past strategic planning made a return of 20:1 on his investments, which gave the Rothschilds complete control over the British economy forcing England to establish a different Bank of England, which Nathan controlled. He would later state,
“I care not what puppet is placed upon the throne of England to rule the Empire on which the sun never sets. The man who controls Britain’s money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply.”
The newly established Bank of England controlled by the Rothschilds changed their approach of shipping gold to different countries by using their five banks across Europe to set up a banking system of paper credits and, which is still used today.
In 1816, the Rothschild’s charter for the Bank of the United States was renewed for twenty more years giving the Rothschilds full control of the American money supply once again.
After the French’s defeat at Waterloo, the French attained major loans in 1817 to rebuild themselves.
In 1818, the Rothschilds, bought large amounts of French government bonds allowing them to take control of the French money supply. They also loaned the Prussian government £5,000,000.
In the year 1821, Kalmann (Carl Mayer Rothschild), was sent to Naples, Italy. There he conducted many business deals with Pope Gregory XVI and the Vatican, eventually coming up with the Order of St. George.
By 1823, the Rothschild empire has gained complete financial control over the Catholic Church operations, globally.
In 1827, Sir Walter Scott, published a nine volume set book series. In volume two he writes that the French Revolution was prepared by Adam Weishaipt’s Illuminati and funded by the Rothschilds’ European banking empire.
In 1835, the 7th president of the United States, Andrew Jackson, began placing the federal funds into banks managed by democratic bankers instead of the Rothschild governed Bank of the United States.
This lead to an assassination attempt being made on President Jackson, who would later declare that he knew the Rothschilds were at fault for the assassination attempt.
The Rothschilds gained ownership over the Almadén quicksilver mines in Spain. This was important, because quicksilver was a critical factor in the refining of gold or silver. This established a basic world monopoly for the Rothschild banking empire.
Nathan Mayer Rothschild dies in 1836. and his bank, N. M. Rothschild & Sons is taken over by his younger brother, James Mayer Rothschild.
In the year 1837, President Andrew Jackson succeeds in overthrowing the Rothschild controlled Bank of America. It wouldn’t be until the year 1913 that the Rothschilds could reestablish their third central bank in America, the (illegal) Federal Reserve.
In 1838, Amschel Mayer Rothschild declares, “Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws.”
In 1840, the Rothschilds become stock brokers of the Bank of England. This allows them to set up agencies in Australia and California.
In 1844, Salomon Mayer Rothschild, buys the United Coal Mines of Vítkovice and a Hungarian Blast Furnace Company.
Jacob (James) Mayer Rothschild/Baron James de Rothschild, married his niece, Betty, who is the daughter of his brother Salomon Mayer Rothschild. James wins a deal allowing him to assemble the first major railroad line called the Chemin De Fer Du Nord, which ran from Paris to Valenciennes. Eventually this railway would join together with the Austrian rail-system built by his brother Salomon Mayer Rothschild.
In 1858, Lionel De Rothschild takes his seat in the British parliament making him the first Jewish member.
In 1861, the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln (1860-1865) secures loans through the Rothschilds to fund the American civil war via Charters, but these loans came at high interest rates (between 24% -36%).
So, Lincoln decided to print his own money, which was debt free and could be legally used in private and public debts/affairs. By April 1862, $449,338,902 of the debt free money Lincoln created was distributed.
In 1863, Italy, unifies causing the (Carl) Rothschild bank in Naples, Italy, to close. So the Rothschilds decided they would use their American assistant, John D. Rockefeller, to help establish an oil business also known as Standard Oil, who became the leader in the industry.
Alexander II (1855 – 1881), Tsar of Russia, also had issues with the Rothschilds, because he refused to let them set up a central bank in Russia. In 1864, Abraham Lincoln discovers this feud and request Tsar to help fund the Civil War. Tsar agrees and sends part of his navy to the coast of New York and California. Allowing Lincoln to win the Civil War.
In 1865, President Lincoln states in a statement to Congress, “I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me, and the financial institution in the rear. Of the two, the one in my rear is my greatest foe.”
President Lincoln is assassinated later that year (1865).
Otto von Bismarck states in 1876, “The division of the United States into two federations of equal force was decided long before the civil war by the high financial power of Europe. These bankers were afraid that the United States, if they remained in one block and as one nation, would attain economical and financial independence, which would upset their financial domination over the world. The voice of the Rothschilds predominated. They foresaw the tremendous booty if they could substitute two feeble democracies, indebted to the financiers, to the vigorous Republic, confident and self-providing. Therefore they started their emissaries in order to exploit the question of slavery and thus dig an abyss between the two parts of the Republic.”
The 20th President of the United States, James A. Garfield (lasted only 100 Days) stated two weeks before he was assassinated in 1881, “Whoever controls the volume of money in our country is absolute master of all industry and commerce…and when you realize that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by a few powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate.”
Edmond James de Rothschild has a son named Maurice de Rothschild. (Adolf Hitler is really Maurice de Rothschild with fake beard and hair piece and carries out his father’s (Baron Abraham Edmond Benjamin James de Rothschild 1845 –1934) work. Since the war caused a sugar shortage, Maurice would have also been the candy man aka Willy Wanka and his top hat 🎩 and cain in his photos match the part).
In 1886, The French Rothschild bank, de Rothschild Frères, gains the Russian oil fields and establishes the Caspian and Black Sea Petroleum Company, which eventually becomes second largest global oil producer.
The Rothschilds become the biggest shareholder of the De Beers company in 1887, which included mining valuable stones in India and Africa. They achieved this by financing the South Africa’s Kimberley diamond mines.
Maurice de Rothschild’s future wife, Noémie Halphen, is born in 1888.
Around 1891, the Rothschilds they purchased the Reuters news agency, to gain control of the media.
In 1895, Edmond James de Rothschild visits Palestine and begins helping fund the first Jewish colonies located there.
In 1897, The Rothschilds organize their first meeting with the Zionist Congress in Munich. However, this meeting was re-arranged to take place in Basle, Switzerland on Aug. 29th, due to Jewish resistance. This meeting is supervised by Theodor Herzl, who would declare in his diaries, “It is essential that the sufferings of Jews….become worse….this will assist in realization of our plans….I have an excellent idea….I shall induce anti-Semites to liquidate Jewish wealth….The anti-Semites will assist us thereby in that they will strengthen the persecution and oppression of Jews. The anti-Semites shall be our best friends.”
Herzl was elected to be the President of the Zionist Organization. The Zionist society adopted the Red Rothschild Hexagram Sign that Amschel Moses Rothschild placed on his house on Judengasse (Jewstreet), on their Zionist flag. This hexagram sign would end up on the flag of Israel 🇮🇱 51 years later.
The Rothschilds help fund Edward Henry Harriman. This allowed him to become the director of the Union Pacific Railroad which would eventually also gain control of the Southern Pacific Railroad.
In 1901 the Jewish colonies established by Edmond James de Rothschild in Palestine. They send him a delegation which states, “If you wish to save the Yishuv (The Jewish colonies) first take your hands from it, and…for once permit the colonists to have the possibility of correcting for themselves what needs correcting.”
Edmond James de Rothschild does not react very well to these news and states, “I created the Yishuv, I alone. Therefore no men, neither colonists nor organisations have the right to interfere in my plans.”
The M. A. von Rothschild und Söhne banking house in Frankfurt, Deutschland 🇩🇪, closes because there was no male Rothschild heir to take over the bank.
The Jewish Encyclopaedia (Vol. 2, p.497) states, “It is a somewhat curious sequel to the attempt to set up a Catholic competitor to the Rothschilds that at the present time the latter are the guardians of the papal treasure.”
In 1906, the Rothschilds insisted that the land was experiencing increased instability, while the Rockefellers were simultaneously becoming a rising competition. This was a lie, because in reality, the Rockefellers were the offspring of the Rothschilds through a female lineage. They owned Standard Oil, which is why they sold their Caspian Black Sea and Caspian Petroleum to Shell and Royal Dutch.
John F. Hylan, then mayor of New York, states in 1911, “The real menace of our republic is the invisible government which, like a giant octopus, sprawls its slimy length over our city, state and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses, generally referred to as international bankers.”
George R. Conroy talks about the Rothschild banker Jacob Schiff in the December 1912 issue of, “Truth,” magazine, and states, “Mr Schiff is head of the great private banking house of Kuhn, Loeb, and co, which represents the Rothschilds interests on this side of the Atlantic. He has been described as financial strategist and has been for years the financial minister of the great impersonal power known as Standard Oil. He was hand in glove with the Harrimans, the Goulds, and the Rockefellers in all their railroad enterprises and has become the dominant power in the railroad and financial power of America.”
The Anti Defamation League (ADL) is established in the United States by the Rothschilds in 1913, which labeled anyone who challenged the Global Elite as “anti-Semitic.” This is also the year that they founded their last central bank which still exists today, the Federal Reserve.
After the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was passed/singed into law on December 23, by the 28th President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, which created the Federal Reserve Banking System, Congressman Charles Lindbergh, stated, “The Act establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President signs this Bill, the invisible government of the monetary power will be legalized…….The greatest crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency bill.”
The Federal Reserve System is a private Organization also known as a charity and is Illegal!!! They also do not publish their accounts*
By the year 1914 the Rothschilds have gained control of multiple European media agencies, which included, Havas (est. 1835) in France, Wolff (est. 1849) in Germany, and Reuters (est. 1851) in England. Wolff News company was used to systematically shape German individuals into believing war the way to go. Since the Rothschilds owned the media now, they were seldomly reported on.
Since, Tsar Alexander II choose to side with President Lincoln in the Cvil War in 1864, he and his whole family in Russia were executed in 1917 by an order of the Rothschilds. They kill the entire family to show the world what happens when you try to cross them.
In 1919, Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the boss, hosted the Versailles peace convention, which meets after the end of World War I to determine what must be repaid by the Germans to the victors. In this conference, it is also officially declared that Israel would be considered a Jewish homeland. Control of Palestine was handed to Britain, which the Rothschilds ruled.
The Times of London report on March 29th on the Bolsheviks in Russia stating, “One of the curious features of the Bolshevist movement is the high percentage of non Russian elements among its leaders. Of the twenty or thirty commissaries, or leaders, who provide the central machinery of the Bolshevist movement, not less than 75% were Jews.”
The Rothschilds were not happy with the Russians because they did not want them to establish their own central bank within their community. So they hired Jewish agents to spy on Russia and plant seeds in the heads of the Russian community about a revolution that would assist the common man by promoting rebellion through riots. The Rothschilds strategically set this up to conquer Russia, so they could establish their own bank there.
The International Edition of the Jewish Post (January 1991)verifies that Vladimir Lenin was Jewish and was caught on record declaring, “The establishment of a central bank is 90% of communizing a nation.”
These Jewish Bolsheviks, funded by the Rothschild would end up would end up slaughtering 60 million Non-Jews and Christians in a Soviet controlled region.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, an author, confirms in his writings, “Gulag Archipelago, Vol 2,” that the Zionist Jews planned and executed the Soviet concentration camp structure. Where millions of Non-Jews and Christians died. On page 79 of his book he mentions the names of the leaders who were behind these camps. This included the Zionist Jews, Yakov Rappoport, Aron Solts, Naftaly Frenkel, Lazar Kogan, Genrikh Yagoda, and Matvei Berman.
The role of adjusting the daily global gold prices is permanently handed over to M. Rothschild & Sons’. Every day around 1100 hours this change took place in the City of London offices, in the same room, until 2004.
N. M. Rothschild & Sons banking house invests in the Underground Electric Railways Company of London Ltd in 1926 giving them total control of the London railway transport system.
Maurice de Rothschild son, Edmond de Rothschild is also born in 1926.
By 1933, the Rothschilds controlled the supply machines of IBM, which produced punch cards (used to input data into the first computers), which allowed the Nazis to organize and identify the Jewish individuals and kept track of their confiscated property and eventual extermination.
The Swiss bank secrecy laws are altered in 1934, making it a violation for any bank employee to breach the bank secrecy. This was arranged by the Rothschilds to prepare for World War II, where again, they would back both sides.
The Austrian bank in Vienna, S. M. von Rothschild und Söhne, closed in 1938 after the Nazi settlement of Austria.
The biggest producer of steel Germany and preeminent manufacturer of chemicals for the world was a company called, I.G. Farben, who in 1939, suddenly ramped up its production in order to equip Germany for World War II. The Rothschilds controlled I.G. Farben, who also produced the Zyklon B gas used to exterminate the Jewish population. The Rothschilds also used the Jews and other people in the concentration camps for slave labor.
World War II begins in 1939.
The book, “Inside The Gestapo,” written by Hansjurgen Koehler in 1940, mentions Adolf Hitler’s grandmother, Maria Anna Schicklgruber, and states, “A little servant girl…….came to Vienna and became a domestic servant…….at the Rothschild mansion…….and Hitler’s unknown grandfather must be probably looked for in this magnificent house.”
In Walter Langer book, “The Mind Of Hitler,” he supports this statement by writing, “Adolf’s father, Alois Hitler, was the illegitimate son of Maria Anna Schicklgruber…….Maria Anna Schicklgruber was living in Vienna at the time she conceived. At that time she was employed as a servant in the home of Baron Rothschild. As soon as the family discovered her pregnancy she was sent back home…….where Alois was born.”
Prescott Bush was the father of George Herbert Walker Bush and the grandfather of George W. Bush, both future presidents. He helped finance Hitler from America. Due to his funding, his organization was seized in the, “Trading With The Enemy Act of 1942.”
World War II ends in 1945. It is also noted that the I.G. Farben companies only sustained 15% damage, concluding that they were not a target in the bombing of Germany. Any information connecting Western aid to Hitler is censored through the Nazi War Crimes investigation held at the end of World War II by the tribunals.
In Spring of 1948, the 33rd President of the United States Harry S. Truman (1945 – 1953) is bribed with $2,000,000 by the Rothschilds to acknowledge Israel (Rothschild owned) as a Jewish sovereign state in Palestine. The United States is the first nation to recognize it and the new flag is soon revealed. The new Israel flag depicted a blue hexagram on it, which was exactly like the red Rothschild hexagram, found on Amschel Moses Rothschild’s doorstep.
The Jewish knew the hexagram represented the “Moloch,” which was the biblical name of a Canaanite god relating to child sacrifice, by means of fire or war. The stone owl located at the Bohemian Grove worshipped by the elite is also named Moloch and Astaroth (Lord Treasurer of Hell). The hexagram also symbolized Saturn, which has been identified as the mystical name for “Satan.” This would mean that anyone murdered in the name of Israel was in reality an offering to Satan.
In 1953, the British Newfoundland Corporation Ltd was founded by N. M. Rothschild & Sons of London. They build a power plant to harness the electricity of the Hamilton (renamed Churchill) Falls (waterfall) on 60,000 square miles of terrain in Newfoundland, Canada.
Edmond de Rothschild established Compagnie Financiere, Paris, in 1955.
In the year 1962, the French banking house, de Rothschild Frères, founded Imétal, a shade company for all their mineral excavating shares.
A book called, “The Rothschilds”, written by Frederic Morton writes, “Though they control scores of industrial, commercial, mining and tourist corporations, not one bears the name Rothschild. Being private partnerships, the family houses never need to, and never do, publish a single public balance sheet, or any other report of their financial condition.”
This statement showcases the true mission of the Rothschilds. It was their objective to eradicate all competition and establish their own global monopoly.
On July 4th 1962, the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, held a speech at Independence Hall, in which he mocked the Declaration of Independence and states that the Constitution, “stressed not Independence but Interdependence.”
On June 4th 1963, the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, issues the Executive Order 11110, which returned the power to distribute currency back to the U.S. government, without having to go through the Federal Reserve possessed by the Rothschilds.
On November 22nd 1963, Kennedy was shot by the Rothschilds. Kennedy’s motive was to distribute and print American currency for the American people. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated for the same reason in 1865 by the Rothschilds.
The 37th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, declares the Executive Order 11110 as void, the same day that Kennedy was killed.
La Compagnie Financière Edmond de Rothschild (LCF), in Switzerland, an investment bank with many associates is established by Edmond de Rothschild. Today, this bank is known as the Swiss Bank. Edmond marries Nadine and have a son together named, Benjamin de Rothschild.
In 1973, Gary Allen, wrote a book called, None Dare Call It Conspiracy, which states, “One major reason for the historical blackout on the role of the international bankers in political history is the Rothschilds were Jewish… ….The Jewish members of the conspiracy have used an organisation called The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) as an instrument to try and convince everyone that any mention of the Rothschilds and their allies is an attack on all Jews. In this way they have stifled almost all honest scholarship on international bankers and made the subject taboo within universities. Any individual or book exploring this subject is immediately attacked by hundreds of ADL communities all over the country. The ADL has never let the truth or logic interfere with its highly professional smear jobs… ….Actually, nobody has a right to be more angry at the Rothschild clique than their fellow Jews… ….The Rothschild empire helped finance Adolf Hitler.”
IBM was controlled by the Rothschilds through their employee, George J. Laurer. IBM creates the UPC (Universal Product Code) barcode, which is placed upon every product traded worldwide. IBM’s UPC barcode bears the mark of the beast, 666. Everything bought or sold is therefore the mark of the beast.
The Book of Revelation 13:17 says, “No man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
The Churchill Falls power plant in Newfoundland, Canada, is finished. N. M. Rothschild & Sons of London, adds an asset management company, called the Rothschild Private Management Limited, which traded globally. Today this company is know as Rothschild & Co.
In 1980, global privatization starts due to the Rothschilds plan to eventually seize power of all publicly held assets.
In 1981, a new bank called, Compagnie Européenne de Banque is established in France. The successor to this bank is Rothschild & Cie Banque (RCB), which eventually becomes a leading French investment company.
Eustace Mullins writes in 1985, “Who Owns The TV Networks,“ where he discloses that the Rothschilds control of the three dominant U.S. Networks at the time: NBC; CBS; and ABC.
Edmond de Rothschild sets up the World Conservation Bank in 1987, which transferred debts from third world countries into his bank. This allowed the Rothschilds to gain land as a return from these countries. The Rothschilds systematically designed this system to gain control of the third world countries, which were about 30% of the land on Earth.
The French and British Rothschilds declare in 1989, the launch of a new branch called, Rothschild GmbH, located in Frankfurt, Germany.
Former Federal Reserve Board Chairman, Paul A. Volker becomes the new Chairman of the banking firm, J. Rothschild, Wolfensohn and Co. in Europe in March 1992.
In 1995, Dr Kitty Little, a past atomic energy scientist, stated that the Rothschilds now possessed 80% of the uranium supplies globally, creating their nuclear power monopoly.
The European Central Bank is established in 1998 and is located in Frankfurt, Germany.
George W. Bush, becomes the 43rd President of the United States in the year 2000. Bush and his family declare they are the ancestors of the House of Plantagenet, whose linage stems from the Royal House of Judah.
The September 11th attack of the Twin Towers was arranged by the United States, Britain, and Israel, through an order received from the Rothschilds. It was their goal to gain security and control over the world, while simultaneously eliminating the liberty of people globally. The Rothschild’s terrorist attack allowed them to gain power over nations who refused to build a central Rothschild bank. One of these 7 nations was Afghanistan, (at the time a nation without R. Bank, but 9/11 changed this.)
They also will use the attacks to gain control of the few nations in the world who don’t allow Rothschild central banks and so less than one month after these attacks, US forces attack Afghanistan, one of only 7 nations in the world who don’t have a Rothschild controlled central bank.
A week before the twin tower attack, the Zim Shipping Company, located in the World Trade Centers, break their lease and leave behind their work station. No explanation has been given, but it is know that the Zim Shipping Company is half owned by the State of Israel, which is owned by The Rothschilds.
In the year 2003, Iraq (Ancient Babylon), is one of the last six nations left that who don’t have a central bank owned by the Rothschilds. The war in Iraq was mostly about robbing their water sources for Israel. Israel has always struggled for water. Water is rare in Israel, so to them water is far more valuable than the oil reserves, which happen to be the second largest oil reserves on the globe.
In 2006, the Edmond De Rothschild Banque a secondary branch of the Edmond De Rothschild bank in France, is the first foreign bank to acquire authorization of the China to enter China’s economic market.

2023.05.21 13:32 Djh1982 The Ethiopian Orthodox Church—Messianic Jews? Ah…no. Here’s why.
At the
Council of Laodicea[363-364AD] the Catholic Church recognized in canon#29 that the apostles themselves had changed the solemnity of the sabbath to Sunday. The council asserted that this was an apostolic tradition and cites a body of peripheral evidence for this change from scripture(i.e; references to things like “the Lord’s Day” in Revelation).
The actual wording of canon#29 is as follows:
Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ. The Ecumenical Council of
Chalcedon[451AD] approved the canons of Laodicea, making them “universal canons”, or rather, canons that are binding on the whole church.
Now, enter the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
Theirs is NOT a patriarchal church and has it’s beginnings around 330AD with the acceptance of Christianity by the Kingdom of Aksum. They belong to the greater body of Oriental Orthodox Churches which split from the Catholic Church AFTER the Council of Chalcedon(
Note:conducted by Pope Leo I which preaches the formula of the “two natures” against that of “one nature”).
Messianic Jews frequently cite the Ethiopian Orthodox church’s sabbatarian tradition as proof that “true Christians” have always been keeping the 7th day Sabbath as a binding law to be kept—and that Sunday is not some kind of “new sabbath”.
Unfortunately, that is not how the Ethiopian church has historically viewed the situation regarding the sabbath command. It does not, therefore, further the cause of Messianic Jews who will say or do
anything possible to try and show that their ecclesiology is consistent with Christianity.
In an inscription of King Lalibäla (c. 1190-1225) found carved on the wooden altar (mänbärä tabot) in the monolith church Däbrä Sina can be found the word sänbätiyan, which is the plural form of Sabbath, i.e. `the two Sabbaths’. This fact implies the veneration of both Saturday and Sunday in the Ethiopian Church. In other words: an equivocation. This is a VASTLY different understanding of sabbath then that of the modern Messianic-Jew movement.
As Hullquist notes:
“The Orthodox Tewahedo Churches in Ethiopia and Eritrea observe the seventh-day Sabbath, as well as Sunday as the Lord's Day. Likewise, the Coptic Church, another Oriental Orthodox body, "stipulates that the seventh-day Sabbath, along with Sunday, be continuously regarded as a
festal day for religious celebration.”
(Source:”Hullquist, Gary (8 August 2004). Sabbath Diagnosis: A Diagnostic History and Physical Examination of the Biblical”)
See also:
“Historically we see a trend toward sabbatarianism in the Eastern Church during the fourth century and the Irish church of the sixth century when, interestingly, a dual recognitition of both sabbath and Sunday was stressed. ... As early as the fourth and fifth centuries theologians in the Eastern church were teaching the practical identity of the Jewish sabbath and the Christian Sunday. Eusebius's interpretation of Psalm 91 (ca. 320) greatly influenced the ultimate transfer of sabbath assertions and prohibitions to the first day of the week.”
(Source: Elwell, Walter A. (2001). Evangelical Dictionary of Theology. Baker Academic. p. 1045.)
In fact, unlike Messianic Jews who ascribe no greater significance to the Lord’s Day then the sabbath, the Ethiopians have in recent history been ascribing MORE import to Sunday and were only restrained by Emperor Zär’a Ya‘ǝqob (1434-1468):
“The king presided, overruled the bishops who were committed to the more usual position that Sunday only was a holy day, and decreed that the Sabbatarian teaching of the northern monks became the position of the church.”(Source: Binns, John (28 November 2016). The Orthodox Church of Ethiopia: A History. I.B.Tauris. p. 58.)
Emperor Zär’a Ya‘ǝqob’s regulations, including the practice to celebrate two Sabbaths, are recorded in great detail in his treatises, especially the ‘Book of the Light’. To make a long story short, a faction loyal to the Coptic Orthodox in Alexandria was calling for Sunday to be defined as the “Great Sabbath” while those who followed Ewostatewos(a religious proponent of Tewahedo Orthodoxy) wanted both days recognized as “sabbath”, per the traditions of Ethiopia(as evidence by aforementioned inscription upon the altar at Däbrä Sina).
IN CONCLUSION No, the Ethiopian Orthodox Christians are no where NEAR being the forerunners of modern Messianic Jews. When we look at their history and beliefs all we find is MORE PROOF that the ecclesiology of modern Messianic-Jews has no pedigree and has never been in line with historical Christian schools of thought—having it’s genesis only in the Judaizers of the 1st century and
not the apostles themselves.

Thragg is a Taurian. A humanoid bipedal creature similar to a Minotaur. Gary is a human. He has red hair, and wears a leather jacket. The two sit quietly in their office doing their work, Thragg on one end, Gary on the other.
Thragg - Hey Gary... *Thragg looks up from his desk*
Gary - Yeah bud? Need help with the Quarterly?
Thragg - Nah.. nah I finished that an hour ago, waiting on approval from the higher ups at the moment. Was browsing your internet...
Gary - Oh no. *Gary cringes a bit at the thought*
Thragg - And I found something called a VPN?
Gary - Virtual Private Network. Its a computer program that bounces your communication network around multiple servers to confuse attackers or bypass area restrictions in digital software.
Thragg - Thats a thing? Why would you do that? Why would that be needed?
Gary - *Gary rolls his eyes* Oh come on, you serious? You dont have cybersecurity in your homeworld?
Thragg - No we do not. We have a society built on trust.
Gary - Well dude, we do NOT. Human history has been a massive litany of 'I don't like you' and 'dat dude is sus' since we entered our first Ice Age. For us it was a matter of survival.
Thragg - *Thragg cringes at the thought and visibly begins to sweat.* Oh dear!
Gary - Yeah I know. But that's what we are here for. Your job is to organize credit reports, my job is to encrypt and decrypt them. Sort of like holding a key to the treasure chest in the dungeon.
Thragg - So... How does this cybersecurity work? I mean... how many passwords could you possibly have you need an entire system to protect them?
Gary - Cybersec is more than just passwords. Its malware, Phishing attempts, theft of login info, keyloggers, cheat software, viruses that delete code. Its a lot of things. All of it based entirely on malicious intent. We have an entire subspecies of human you know. We call them Hackers. They are universally hated by everyone, everywhere.
Thragg - What's a hacker then? Does it have more than one leg?
Gary - No no. Its a human, just like me, only its slightly more brain damaged and has no friends. Or a soul. Its entire intent is to spread its discontent for its own lack of life to everyone else by stealing things it doesnt own.
Thragg - That... that sounds genuinely awful. What the hell?
Gary - Yep. Kind of why we hate them. But its kind of pointless. Only damage they usually do is leaking Federal documents exposing politicians they don't like or scamming the occasional grandma of her retirement savings. When we find them the punishment is usually quite merciless.
Thragg - Merciless?
Gary - The only thing these creatures hate more than anything else is the light shining upon them. They rely on anonymity to do the things they do. We convict them, plaster their faces everywhere, and install a chip in them that electrocutes them every time the touch a digital device. Its a double punishment because it first shows the public never to trust them AND ensures they cant do it again.
Thragg - That... seems a bit harsh with humans to be honest.
Gary - Maybe, but now the hackers only work FOR us, as opposed to against us.
Thragg - I see...
*several moments of silence follow*
Thragg - Gary... How exactly did you people defeat the Cassani Imperium?
Gary - That's a question out of the blue.
Thragg - I mean it. They were the most repulsively powerful empire. Two thousand years old, the largest fleet, the largest army... then they found you and suddenly they lost. How?
Gary - Their firewalls were shit.
Thragg - What?!
Gary - Thing is, they may have guns but the electronic and digital security the had on their ships was practically non-existent. They arrived and during the whole 'evil villain I'm-gonna-conquer-your-world' speech, someone, probably 4-chan or the CIA, found an open wireless network link.
Thragg - You gotta be kidding me.
Gary - No, I'm dead serious. They live in a trust based, honor bound society and because of this they had no concept of malware or firewall protections. Their ships might have been able to deflect gigaton level nukes but their ship controls were like a brothel with its doors unbarred and unguarded with a free-for-all sign on the front door.
Thragg - Gods... I wish the Reimani knew that. Probably would still be around.
Gary - Well... they are. But that's another story.
*Thragg nearly chokes as he gasps aloud at the sudden revelation*
Gary - BUT ANYWAY, thing is, once we got into their systems, it was trivial to translate their language and hardware. As you know, humans have over two hundred languages and had algorithms to compensate for this. We just... let the computers do the work and once we knew what we were doing, switched their ships off.
Thragg - It was... that simple?
Gary - Pretty much. Root access to operating system, figure out what controls which and where things go, then poof. We just... shut their ships off. Giving lockdown errors to reactors, orders to overproduce energy to shields overloading them. Disabling cannons so they couldnt fire. Switching off life support...
Thragg - SWITCHING OFF LIFE SUPPORT!?!?
Gary - Well... when we couldn't switch anything else off, we just switched off life support. Or simply put the life support system in reverse so it sucked up all the air and vented it into space. Not intentionally of course but hey, we were panicking.
Thragg - Wait... Not intentionaly? What do you mean?
Gary - Look... its not in our nature to be overly aggressive. We only get rowdy when we think things are unfair. We were trying to just switch them off so we could have more time.
Thragg - To do what exactly?
Gary - Panic of course! But... we went juuust a bit too far. Someone unloaded a Trojan onto the system. We blocked it from our systems immediately of course, but them... not so much.
Thragg - Trojan?
Gary - Oh right. Trojan is a kind of malicious code that disguises itself as a non-malicious code in order to inflict damage. Trojan coming from the old legend of the battle of Troy where soldiers from the Trojan army destroyed their enemies by hiding inside a giant wooden horse.
Thragg - Oh. Okay. I shall have to ask you about THAT one later but im with you.
Gary - So anyway, the trojan went in and spread through the entire network. We only wanted to - and I need to emphasise this - only wanted to just send them home or try negotiate. The Trojan however had other plans and went through the entire network. Completely corrupting it. The worse thing was, they still had an FTL commlink back to their bases.
Thragg - Oh dear.
Gary - Oh dear indeed. It infected every ship, every station, every waypoint, every jump gate, every waffle iron, everything. It gave us root access to every system they had. It continued to carry out either one of the last two commands we carried out before it infected the network: Go home, or shut down life support.
Thragg - Well... now I understand why casualties were so high.
Gary - AGAIN I will say we did NOT want that to happen. We just wanted them to leave and not shoot. We had no idea what was going on with that trojan until it was too late. When we did realize what was going on we sent in an antivirus to try get rid of the Trojan so we could stop it. It wiped out half their fleet across the entire galaxy before we got control again.
Thragg - Well we wish you wouldnt have to be completely honest. The galactic community was very disappointed when we hard you were letting them go. They were total bastards.
Gary - Again, we are not that vindictive... Mostly. All we wanted was to be left alone. And they promised to leave us alone.
Thragg - Well now perhaps it would behoove you to know that's the one thing they aren't doing?
*Gary imperceptively moves his left hand to the underside of his desk and starts a recording n his phone*
Gary - I'm sorry... could you say that again? What are the Cassani Imperium doing again?
Thragg - Look! See? They are mobilizing their military on our borders again! They are marching towards Earth!
Gary - Oh my...
*Thragg turns his monitor around and shows Gary the now infamous video of Cassani Imperium forces amassing in a border system in neutral space bordering Thragg's home nation space. The fleet consists of thousands of top-of-the-line warships. They are all directly facing the nearest hyperlink straight to Sol.*
Gary - That is most unfortunate. Oh well.
Thragg - They are about to invade you! You should have put them down when you had the chance! Now look, that fleet is ten times the size of the one that tried to hit Sol!
Gary - Meh. Maybe this time we will.
*Gary ignores Thragg's further attempts at conversation and sends out some hasty Emails.*
Thragg - Wait... you said the Reimani were still around?
*Gary smiles in a cheeky manner and winks*
Gary - Later Thragg, Later. We have a job to do.
_________________________________________________________________________
What follows this broadcast is one of the most merciless mass slaughters in galactic history as humanity, wary of their former opponents had installed many 'back doors' into their systems. Within the space of a few hours after this information was found by Terran Federation authorities, every ship in the fleet had its atmosphere vented and al crew members killed. Several more Trojans were released into the network and the Cassani Imperium collapsed. With the majority of their infrastructure now worthless, the Cassani homeworld fell to ruin.
Humans invaded the other worlds in the Cassani Imperium, forcibly integrating the remaining citzenry into the Federation, and leaving the Cassani homeworld to rot.
The Cassani homeworld has since regressed into a medieval or feudal like state of civilisation owing to the fact their entire technology base was stolen by humans or completely erased.

2023.05.06 07:07 EnergyLantern Our good works do not change our moral condition
I was listening to Pastor Gary Hamrick and I learned this and it also caught my attention. My post is from my notes.
Isaiah 64:
6But we are all as an unclean
thing, and all our righteousnesses
are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isaiah 64 KJV (biblehub.com) Isaiah is saying we are all as an unclean thing. Unclean means we are not accepted because of a designation or a defect. That makes us unworthy or like outcasts with God. Filthy rags are talking about our righteous acts. Compared to God who is the standard, our righteousness are like filthy rags. In other words, our best intentions, best acts, our righteousness are like menstrual cloths. "We do fade as a leaf" is talking about decay and dying. "and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." means that our sins sweep us away because we have little power against temptation.
Good works is a myth that it can change our moral condition. There is actually a name for good works and it is Moralistic Therapeutic Deism and it actually becomes a religion. We think that we must be a moral person because we do good things. It's really an attempt to feel better. Our hearts are actually sinful from birth and good works cannot improve our sinful condition.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. -Psalm 51:5
The Pharisees had more good works than all of us and Jesus said:
And the Lord said unto him, Now do
ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. -Luke 11:39
Good works do not save us.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; -Titus 3:5
I have more notes and I know where to find the source of this message. I also found complimentary information.

respectively. also, Alec’s pal Foster (Wolfgang Novogratz) is on a summer assignment for a capability “hook up” list, even as Erin’s quality buddy Audrey (Sosie 1st baron beaverbrook) seeks opportunity babysitting a child actress. meanwhile, nerd friends Reece (Mario Revolori) and Chad (Jacob McCarthy) find themselves to “reinvent their image”, locating attractiveness in an person placing of day investors and commercial enterprise professionals
the best / THE awful
in spite of the popularity of many viewers “clicking” onto Netflix and binging their preferred television collection and movies on a day by day habitual foundation, I’m no longer so fan of Netflix. well, I wouldn’t say that I hate / dislike Netflix, but I simply don’t see the “brilliant craze” approximately it. For starters, most of the television indicates and movies on there I already very own or have them “on call for” someplace else. next, the contents of Netflix originals are so-so, with handiest have few of them i love to observe, inclusive of house of playing cards and Lemony Snicket’s a sequence of unfortunate activities. although, I do need to peer Umbrella Academy. nonetheless, at the same time as Netflix users / viewers are all the rage in pop culture mediums, I’m extra inclined to be on the outskirts of these circles. once more, I’m now not a “hater”, however I’m instead not notable enthralled in all matters Netflix related. I guess that’s my unpopular opinion of kinds. still, for what it’s well worth…it’s an awesome on line streaming provider.
evidently, this brings me back to my modern-day evaluation for The closing summer season, the contemporary endeavor for feature film presentation to be launched on Netflix. As said above, I commonly don’t move on Netflix as plenty because the regular character, however I sometimes do, which is wherein I noticed the trailer for The final summer season. sure, I’ll admit that I do (every now and then) like youngster drama films (some of them are pretty true and Hollywood has produced memorable hits at some point of the years). After viewing the trailer, i was kind of intrigued by it, specially the concept of the film and in the “transition” duration between excessive faculty and college. As of this assessment, I’ve handiest reviewed one film on Netflix (i.e. The Cloverfield Paradox), so I wanted to develop my “Netflix horizons” and took a risk of looking The ultimate summer (the day after its release) with a plan on reviewing it afterwards. What did I consider it? well, to be honest, I type of remorse watching it. at the same time as the basis is indeed a very good one, The ultimate summer looks like a cobbled-up iteration of cliched teen melodrama / clichés of yesteryear. There’s a tale right here, but it receives misplaced within its a couple of storylines and uneven characterizations.
The closing summer season is directed by means of William Bindley, whose preceding works consist of directing such movies like Judicial Consent and Madison, but (recently) has acted extra as an govt manufacturer for initiatives inclusive of The Nut activity, Spark: A area Tail, and mother’s Day. efficaciously, Bindley makes The remaining summer have a certain sort of sincerity within its narrative context; locating the summer time among excessive faculty (teenage formative years) and college / whatever takes place after (grownup life) prevalent appealing, in particular seeing that most (if now not all) have determined themselves in that peculiar “transitional” duration in their lives.
That’s what intrigued when I saw the trailer for the movie and its something quite significant in storytelling; showcasing the transformation of an person of who they were in high school and who they want to be in the destiny. again, it’s a widespread topic that everyone can perceive with that in the end works for The closing summer season; finding Bindley’s efforts to in shape the ones precise moments inside the film (in a wide form of scenarios inside its characters). consequently, for higher or worse, the film surely has its heart within the proper region and Bindley seems to do as properly.
Presentation-clever, the film appears k-ish. The movie’s Chicago setting is nicely utilized for its characters to mess around in, using locations and places during the feature. however, a whole lot of the technical “backstage” merits and endeavors for The last summer time fall somewhere theatrically ok to borderline television movie. meaning….it’s okay, but looks like something of a television film greater so than a movement picture characteristic. That being said, the musical rating, composed with the aid of Ryan Miller, became barely higher and the numerous musical choice of songs (playing for the duration of the film) feel suitable and are clean on the ears (if you recognize what I mean).
unluckily, The closing summer time comes up extra “empty exceeded” than a celebrated undertaking, locating the film derivate and cliched during almost each scene. The movie’s script, which turned into penned by Bindley and his brother Scott Bindley, attempts to cognizance on a large number of storylines with a interconnecting perception of the equal idea of revel in summer time after high college and searching beyond to destiny prospects. a number of them are pals, but some don’t even go paths with each other. This concept of cinematic storytelling has been done before in Gary Marshall’s Valentine’s Day and New yr’s Eve in addition to Christian Ditter’s a way to be unmarried, however the Bindley brothers felt to capture the interlacing storytelling within the ultimate summer. Why? properly, for starters, there are too many storylines that the Bindley brothers want to tell in the confines of an hour and 40-nine mins feature (109 minutes).
Due to this, the narrative threads of these diverse teen characters fail to dig deep beyond surface level personalities and challenges inside the film, barely developing past their preliminary one-dimensional stereotypes. you realize what I’m talking approximately…. the conventional teen archetype tropes: the kid who went to boarding college and is derived back to connect to a vintage friend, the female attempting to find herself identification, the teen lovers who cut up with every other and have different reports aside from every different, the awkward nerds who want to shed their high faculty snap shots, the fellow who’s on the for “hook ups”, and many others…the listing is going on, but you get the concept.
What I’m getting at is that those teenager characterizations have been performed before (most usually used in the 80s and 90s films). hence, The remaining summer feels a long way eliminated from present day and appears extra in-line with a Hollywood model of nowadays’s teenage adolescent (an ideal of hyper-truth fiction placing). This additionally applies to the use of thematic messages that the movie provides, in particular in among the character “finding themselves” and embracing who they're and what they want to be of their upcoming adult life. It’s a good concept, but quite a few thoughts appear recycled from a multitude of past endeavors in addition to being half of-baked due to the film’s time production. It’s tiresome, boring, predictable, and absolutely tedious from begin to complete. Even the film’s ending, which sort of wraps a lot of the storylines feels incomplete with a incredibly dissatisfying finishing that’s leaves a bland / tasteless affect at the movie (as a whole). This, of direction, goes again to The remaining summer being overcrammed / overstuffed, making the characters (and their trips) formulaic and shallow to touch. As a television show (like a constrained one season enterprise),
The ultimate summer should’ve labored, allowing the storylines to be absolutely explored and letting the characters to come to be greater advanced. however, the movie just finally ends up being confusingly previous and exceedingly choppy.
perhaps one of the saving graces of the movie is the gifted young solid of the various teens characters the movie follows. most of them aren’t awesome popular, but have enough fanbase (from numerous of their past projects) to make the recognizable. This includes actor KJ Apa (Riverdale and the dislike U provide) as Griffin Hourigan, actress Maia Mitchell (The Fosters and teenager seashore film) as Phoebe, actor Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner and Collateral splendor), actress Gage Golightly (The Troop and teen Wolf) as Paige Wilcox, actor Tyler Posey (youngster Wolf and truth or Dare) as Ricky Santos, and Halston Sage (Paper towns and The Orville) as Erin. Their likeable allure and display screen presence (similar to the rest of the forged of characters) are suitable, however not quite sufficient to elevate their one-dimensional characters.
Apa and Mitchell are the incredibly predominant characters (i.e. Griffin and Phoebe) inside the movie, locating their story arc to be the maximum compelling. yet, on the same time, it’s the most cliched, riddled with the common stereotypes of rom-coms / youngster drama functions. The equal can be said with Alec and Erin’s storylines (the “B” storyline of the movie), which (again) is a cliché of usually used person plot tool of humans breaking apart and locating love some other place (consider how it slightly performed out in how to Be unmarried form of vibe…. type of), with characters Ricky and Paige playing the “different fans” that Alec and Erin locate.
the other fundamental characters, together with actor Wolfgang Novogratz (Assassination state and 9 via design) as Foster, actress Sosie William Maxwell Aitken (right here and Now and thirteen motives Why) as Audrey, actor Mario Revolori (Rhett and link’s pal machine and Papi Chulo) as Reece, and actor Jacob McCarthy (A.P. Bio and The Drummer and the Keeper) as Chad, appear to have lesser screen time, which makes the narrative journeys less impactful. while Foster and Reece / Chad’s storylines are performed for laughs, Audrey’s tale seem greater thrilling, however gets sidetracked in favor of Griffin / Phoebe and Alec / Erin story threads, which makes her adventure thrilling but woefully underdeveloped. That being stated, I did get a few chuckles out of Reece / Chad’s story, but it seems the least impactful one from each person else (in the main because of the truth that there characters in no way engage with the other ones).
collectively, a lot of these characters are much less-developed and are, extra or much less, predictable, derivate, and simply definitely “eye rolling” inducing. It’s an amazing concept to have a young and likeable cast inside the film, however their characters within the ultimate summer are dated and were done better in comparable initiatives.
Given the truth the film focusses lots on those characters, the film doesn’t have an entire lot of big assisting players, however simply has minor ones that generally have various plot mechanics to further the narrative for the respective characters. This includes actress Gabrielle Anwar (The Tudors and Burn observe) as Griffin’s mother, actor Ed Quinn (2 Broke girls and Eureka) as Griffin’s dad, actress Heidi Johanningmeier (established harmless and Chicago P.D.) as Phoebe’s mom, actor Norman Johnson Jr. (Paradise city and brought about effect) as Mason, and young actress Brenna Sherman (The Kingsbury Run and misplaced in Time) as Sierra. acting is high-quality for these kinds of characters, but appear much less exciting as they act as minor / forgettable stock-like characters for the function…. a kind of “window dressing” for the feature’s principal protagonist characters….and nothing more. additionally, just like the principle leads, those characters themselves, in spite of some having semi-important roles within the movie, feels hollow and uninspiring.
very last thoughts
Seventy- days of probabilities, studies, and moments that form the lives of numerous post high schoolers before coming into university (and consequently maturity) in the film The remaining summer. Director William Bindley present day characteristic collectively tells the tale of what it means of “one final trip” at adolescent youngsters and discovering “big changes” that occur over the path in their final summer time earlier than university. whilst the idea is there (and is a strong one) and the appearing abilties are k, the film struggles to be interesting; finishing up with a choppy, shallow, and overstuff / overcrammed enterprise that’s full of boring teen melodrama. for my part, i was dissatisfied with this film. It genuinely may want to’ve been interesting and virtually had the potential, but it’s accepted float, rushed development, and half of-baked ideas (from better / greater memorable functions) makes the film less suitable and (to be honest) pretty a bore. accordingly, my recommendation for this film is without a doubt a “bypass it” as there’s not plenty to look, watch, or takeaway from this movie from what’s already being said in different similar endeavors. Even in case you’re keen on numerous members of the young cast, it’s pleasant just to look at them inside the extra popular / outstanding works than this one (you’ll thank me for it). in the long run, Netflix has masses of unique content throughout its streaming provider for a viewer’s enjoyment enchantment, however the remaining summer season isn’t a “have to see” and finally ends up being a flat out “snoozer” teen rom-com that burns up speedy like a hot summer season romance instead of a long-lasting relationship.

2023.05.01 12:27 Bordanka A Generic Re-Write Post: Bone-y Edition
| Hello, Pokemon Trainers! Sigh, I don't usually do these posts. They're normally pretty useless, as they're either a way to let out headcanons or voice criticism that won't be heard and most likely will spark fights in comment sections. Besides, what's done is done, nobody (especially now) will ever come back to anything and adress in any manner. BUT I decided to make one anyway! At least we'll all get a kick out kicking each other in the comments. Some of us will even find a common ground. I didn't know how to structure this post, so I'll divide everything into various segments. I'll warn if something is headcanon or comes from a different media. Today's post is especially unpopular as it's about.... Sun&Moon, or, to be more precise, about the arch of Team Skull. I've chosen this one mostly because I know the most about these guys and I don't have much criticism about other characters in the S&M series. Or at least I don't have any ideas worthy of presenting. So let's pick the bone with the best after Team Flare TRio evil team in the anime! Overall Series Direction Sun&Moon anime at its core is the perfect version of Ultra Sun&Ultra Moon, a glimpse of official Pokemon Stars if it ever was to be a thing. Which is rare, as the majority of the seasons were anime versions of either of the games (Indigo arch - Yellow, Johto arch - Crystal, Advanced series - Ruby&Sapphire (without Emerlard), D&P - D&P (without Platinum)). Last time we got something like is XYZ. So big props to OLM already on combining all 4 games and giving us a rough idea how Stars could have played out. With all honesty I think anime almost perfectly balanced out plots of both versions. The original S&M was much more grounded and had arguably better character motivations. More stories had uneven, realistic, morally grey conclusions without making anything edgy or overly cliche. (meme break) deepest lore USUM was light-hearted, closing one plot hole of the original while opening 10 more. And still it was good and served as a perfect template for the anime. As a result we have the following: - Characters that were evil are now good
- Morally grey characters are bad
- Some characters that were good got additional dark or sad background (Nanu, Mallow)
- Lillie and Gladion are slightly pretentious brats (but slightly)
- The overall mood is cheerful
Of course some events get omitted as well, but it's to be expected from the anime. It sucks at times (TEAM RAINBOW EPISODE NOOOOOO), but not the worst sacrifice we could make for a good plot. And that's great! Considering the glaring plot and character development differences it's the best way to balance out all 4 versions of the games. There's one problem: Team Skull. They were an integral part of EVERYTHING that was heavily changed or cut. Thus there were only 3 sensible ways to deal with Team Skull in the anime: make them into regular bullies, get rid of them entirely, focus on major Team Skull members (Gladion, Plumeria, Guzma). We, unfortunately, got NEITHER, but an awkward mix of the former and the latter. Aaaaand it doesn't flow too well, in the way we got it, anyway. BUT it seems like we could have had a smoother version of this hybrid approach.... Plot Holes And Oddities Saying Pokemon has plot holes is like saying water is wet, but believe me, it's important here. There are (3,5) 4 major plot holes in regard to Kukui and his ex-rival, the most hated boss around, that beats you down, and beats you down, and beats you down and never lets up - Guzma. Firstly, Emergency Exit. In The Dealer of Destruction! it was established that Golisopod can activate this ability by will and it's not tied to damaged dealt to him. Nothing wrong with that. However we don't see a different Pokemon ejected out in the battle. Everyone who played the games and shouts "that's because Guzma didn't have the second mon on!" forgets that's only you know it, because you know the in-game mechanics of Emergency Exit. The general public doesn't know it and almost always any new (and even old!) attack or an ability is explained to the audience, almost always accurately to the games. So, yes, we have both Guzma acting like an idiot bringing only one Pokemon to "destroy" Kukui AND a poorly explained ability which makes a bad plot point, while attempting making the story about cowardice. Lol, Emolga 2.0 Secondly, Scisor? When did we get a Scisor in the story? And it's not that we got a new Pokemon without long introduction. We got a new mon as if we should have already seeing it. Seriously, watch Battle Royal 151!\*,* he appears as like we already know how strong and menacing he is. Also I wonder what his relationships with Golisopod are. They're most likely not very good friends. Thirdly, wait, it's a story about cowardice, seriously? The signals are very mixed. Kukui initially blames Guzma for cowardice ("would you run away now like you ran away from the island challenge?"). Plumeria supports it by remembering how Guzma would only engage in battles he could win. At the same time we get a flashback to Guzma being unable to defeat Kukui which means.... what? He isn't an Island Captain in anime either, how did he prevent Guzma from beating Hala or any other island Kahuna? So it must be just perprsonal rivalry. In the same flashback Guzma is having a mental breakdown over alolan traditions, which he continues to oppose in his debute episode.... but forgets for the rest of the series. It all turns into inter-personal conflict between Guzma and Kukui which is confirmed by Guzma's hatred towards Ash ("this brat has the same look on his face as Kukui"). A random gag from a game gets turned into a trait of a character who is known for his recklessness in the games and manga. That's Pokemon anime at its finest So is Guzma a coward, a cultural outcast or does he has a bone r to pick with Kukui specifically? You can have it all. And we did! In games, Guzma hated Alolan traditions because he failed to become a Captain, but he also hates Kukui because he had the balls to take an L and find a different path in life, which meant he was spiritually stronger then Guzma, what scares his away after he loses to you in your first encounter and makes him hate the player. Pretty straightforward, he's a bitter loser! There is a second bottom to it, more here and here. What is he in the anime? This is what I like about the manga version. They thew away relationships with Kukui and him atempting to become a trial Captain entirely leaving only the social outcast part. It's an elegant way to avoid confusuion and leave only what's important. the forced trip to the Ultra Space wasn't fun.... He whacked his face himself, though. It used to look worse Fourthly, what about the Trials? Kukui DIDN'T participate in Trials and DIDN'T aim to become an Island Captain (because there are no Trial Captains in the anime) and thus wasn't Guzma's parthner in fail (I like calling them like that XD) in the anime (unless I forgot something or missed an episode, which I most probably did). Outside of being Hala's student Kukui had nothing to do with Island challenge. Looks like we have leftovers of the games as well as some additional or alternative scenario created for anime versions of Guzma and Kukui, but neither made it past the cutting floor, leaving us with a mess. All of that tells me that there used to be more episodes mentioning or featuring either Guzma or Plumeria. Why Plumeria? There are two reasons. The first one is that Plumeria is a lorekeeper of Team Skull both in games and anime. Secondly, it looks like Plums could have appeared much earlier in anime, as early as Necrozma's arch. Take a look at this asset: it is a meme, but with a point (btw, this post credit The Wisdom Not to Run scene has an animation error where garbadour flashes in and out of existance) This asset looks suspiciously like the lazy grown-ups assets from the Necrozma episodes. lazy Kukui I would call it an overthinking if not the anime didn't tend to reuse assets. This Kukui asset is used for a brief last scene in oone of the episodes when he catches cold (I swear it exists!). Same with other "lazy" assets that either used for a prolonged time within the boundaries of 1-2 eposodes or used later for a different situation. So yeah, this fact and the existance of that Plumeria asset is enough for me to suspect that she could have appeared earlier in the series in earlier versions of the script, but something went wrong down the line and she got cut. On top of that Plumeria, just like Scisor, appears in That's Some Spicy Island Research! as if Ash and his friends should have at least heard of her. And she shows up for literally several seconds and isn't seeing again for 11 episodes. It would be normal for "important", but one-off chararcters as kahunas or TRio, but it was her FIRST appearance in the anime! It would be also ok, if she was someone like Giovanny or one of his goons, like the Secretary, afterall these are the characters that appear throught many archs and seasons ad have a big multi-episode showdown. But Plums is nothinh but a plot device.... More on her later. There are other three rare assets, this time of the Shady house which are featured in T he Wisdom Not to Run episode: 2 new angles of the "throne" room (there's no throne >__<) and a close-up of that pathetic filthy coach on which Guzma seems to meet hangover regularly... apparently. What's up with both manga and anime portraining him as an alchoholic?! Is it because of those artsy bottles and one stending next to his throne in the games?! Give me a break! That was the whole joke that Guzma does stupid reckless things fully sober! He's crazy and desperate! Ugh. Basically, I see a lot of unique aasets, most of them shoved into one episode, a very pacxked and slightly chaotic episode (The Wisdom Not to Run) and a bunch of other things that don't add up by my standards. So I say there were severe cuts and this whole cowardice-rivarly premise should have been more spread across several episodes. Now we enter a more of a variety part of the post. We'll get to the more serious stuff later. Le Funny Firstly.... indeed, why don't we see Skull Trio using any type of vechle again? They look badass! You have NO right to stop giving us Team Skull riding bikes, OLM. Why didn't you give them a water scooters?! Headcanon: Zipp should have been with Taurouses and ranch Pokemon in general and being fiends with a Pokemon that helps to looks after the Riding PKM farm (or whatever). So whener Team Skull needs a lot of Riding Pokemon he just goes to it and ask to lend them some, returning happy Mudbrays or what he gets back with his pals, running away in a comical manner by some old ass farmer XD omg, they're so small WE HAVE A TEAM THAT CANNONOCALLY DANCES, SINGS AND RAPS ALL THE TIME! HOW WE DON'T HAVE TEAM SKULL SINGING AN ENERGETIC RAP SONG?! would be also cool if the outro with song featured ALL Team Skull pokemon, giving screentime to the established ones and teasing upcoming. Imagine Type Null, Umbreon and Midnight Lycanrock joining in one ep Team Skull mons and dancing with them, but then they wave a goodbye to each other. Wouldn't it be adorable? especially this guy (let's get high)! fun fact: unlike other Skull Grunts he has an UP sign on his chain. And it's not an animation error. Looks like an obscure Easter Egg It also blows me away how we didn't get rap/dance fights between Skull Trio and TRio and only this one.( japanese is better, as always, highly recommend) Also HOW DID WE NOT GET Mitte Mitte remake ft. Skull Girls for vocals, Oracorio all Styles, Plumeria, her Gengar (she has a Gengar in games), Salazzle and Skull Trio Pokemon? They could just make children music videos on their Twitter or YT chanell with Team Skull and occasionally TRio singning and dancing in short music videos. They have them dancing in commercials in live action anyway, why not in animation as well? Come on, Team Skull is supposed to be cute in this version! Team Skull Pokemon Division! SKIP IF NOT INTERERSTED I just want Team Skull to have more plot revelant mons. So I'm going to give Plumaria and your boi their pokemon back! Before that I just say that Garbadour should have evolved from Trubbish and Zubat Should have eventually evolve into Golbat. Would be nice having some character development from the Skull Trio. Also I will throw in hypothetical scenarios for episodes or character traits. Everyone forgets about the Battle Tree mons! I'm also gonna mix funny ideas I have about the species in general and specific Pokemon GOLISOPOD! Don't show this mon to Tarnished Friendly murdurous blue lobster, raised from a Wimpod and caught by hand. Just like in games, he's Guzma first Pokemon and he's been brothers with his master for almost 2 decades (or at least more then a decade, because it's a little debatable how old Guzma actually is). Bug type ace. Being almost a living fossil its (as a species) emotioanl range is alittle scarce. It has three main moods: protect, attack and friendly (and food?). But sometimes it gets confused on how to react to certain situations, so it gets a wird mix of all three. come up with your idea how a confused Golisopod stuck between three moods would look and act like. Condition: max cuteness Like all crustaceans it lacks tongue and teeth, but don't be fooled! few things DON't fit into its mouth. And what isn't is teared apart and scliced in piececs with its mouth. The mouth of Golisopod mouth in actuallity an underwater version of a protobeak, its edges are razor sharp (demonstration by giving Golisopod a middle-sized coconaut and it being cut in two efortlessly in one bite. I'm just giving ideas to funny scenes XD). Golisopods sharpen their beaks by biting on large mineral-reach rocks they find in environment, usually keeping one as a "faivorite" (yes, atempts to play fetch with a 10+ kilo rock have been made. Yes, the rock have been dropped on toes. It was loud). Golisopod is able to lift a target (ridiculous amount of) times its weight. This strength allows them to have a wide range of prey as well as climbing underwater mountains even in string currents. This strenght stays helpful even on the land, allowing it climb various surfaces faster than it runs. sir, you have a Golisopod on the ceiling. FEMALE GOLISOPOD! just a random pick of a female Golisopod. By u/nobleillustrations Yeah, little kown fact, but you can encounter a female Golisopod on Guzma's team in the Battle Tree! It's virtually identical to her male counterpart except for the moveset. How this WASN'T used for cuteness points in the anime is beyond me. I can almost hear the episode she could have appeared in! She's male Golisopod's wife (they've been past lovers phase for a long time). Female Golisopod lives in the flooded part of Ula'Ula, not too far away from po Town, making the very heart of a salty swamp her breeding ground and home. Each breeding season the male leaves his master to breed with her. This means that Guzma may spend several MONTHS without his ace before he comes back with his fience, carring essentially runts of his sevral DOZENS strong brood with them, partially passing the parenting of the most difficult and the weakest kids to Team Skull. The reason they are kept seperatly is because Golisopods, being solitary creatures, don't like their own species around (headcanon, obviously). A careless Golisopod, regadless of gender, risks becoming meal for the other if confronted. The only time when this chnace is a little smaller is during breeding season. But this chance is never zero! They choose mate by beating each other almost to death! If one survives - it's a mate, if not - it's a lunch. Hey, at least they're good parents. Poor blue lobster race have extremely strong parental insticnt and no way to tell apaprt their own eggs from eggs of someone else! They become victims of brood parasites, at times even other Golisopods who lost the territory game. Also they purr, or a sound that's funtionally similar to purring. Its use is not fully understood, as it's pretty quiet, but it's so rythmic and repetative it's capable to put to sleep even the most hated boss around withing minus. Or a 100 unit brood, idk. Works either way. Male Golisopod's wife is s Woman with a capital W! Neither of her attacks, unlike her husband, has a secondary effect, aside from Pursuit. Her moveset is dedicated to just dealing damage, with overpowered attacks like Hydro Pump, Dig (or Dive. I believe it can learn both) and always reliable First Impression. Do not fuck with her (unless you're the male Golisopod), as she will eat you alive. She's obviously half-wild and not very trained, but she is caught in a Loveball!!! Pokeball, but she's not ill behaved either. She knows some basics of professional Pokemon battling and will obey to her master. But she's far from being an ace despite strong moveset. After all, she was caught because she was a love from first sight... or First Impression. Whichever it was. also a concept of a human child is beyond her. Suggest your ideas of what it means XD LIEPARD! bad stats, mediocre desing - saved by animation. 10/10 mon Hehe, didn't know your boi doubled as a dark type specialist? Now you do! When male Golisopod leaves with his wife he takes the spotlight. The second oldest Pokemon on Guzma's team. Originally a gift-house cat male Purrlion this fabulous feline is all about being... fabulous. I thought it would be funny to have such a brute as Guzma to have such a femboy-ish, elegant Pokemon. He's not often seeing in the show, as he's a cat that walk by himself, but he playes two important roles: he helps out on spying operations (I SHALL EXPLAIN) and during Battle Royle. Other times he's seeing around TRio occasionally, as he finds them fabulous (especcialy Jessie), just hanging around or desrupting their evil plots or Ash and the gang attempting to fend off TRio. He's a mischievious leopard. That's a trait all Team Skull Pokemon share! Love fluffy bonds and other Pokemon accessories. He actully functions as a reveal that Guzma nd Plumeria are into Contests . I SHALL EXPLAIN EVRYTHING. Maybe they even know Jesselina. I know OLM would never bring her up, but we could dream. these thingies are Liepard's faivorite! I know this one specifically is a jabot, but similar looking ribbons exist. has lots of them, both as present by his master and... stolen from unattentive merchants. Hates water and dirt, slightly hate Golisopod as he likes precisely those two things. And he spits undigested contetns of his stomach when annoyed. And he smells like ocean. Yacky creature. HONCHKROW! cool to see its prevalution being useful in competitive! THE oldest mon on Guzma's team. Dark type ace. Tragic backstory: was caught by the tail and put on a short leash as a Murkrow by Guzma's dad to essentially to mock superstition that these birds bring bad luck. Was laughted at and bullied by other Murkrows, led by an old Honchkrow he wished to challenge. A tiny, cold birdhouse was everything that protected him (yep, another male) from strong tropical downpours and balzing hot sun. His feahters withered, wings started weakening. If not the son of his prisoner, who played and comforted the poor crow as he got older, Murkrow would loose an ability to fly. Remember the part from games where Guzma had a Dusk Stone lucky charm and runs away from home? That's still present here, but he gives the charm to Murkrow instead of the player (Ash in this case), evolving him into a Honchkrow. He beats the older Honchkrow and takes over the flock. He's very diffenrent from most Honchkrows, as others often mistreat their flocks. Guzma's Honchkrow, learning what it's like to be pecked and bullied, treats his flock with love, although at times tought love. He often begs for food to feed his Murkrows, spoiling them terribly. Honchkrow always carries various berries in his goiter, mimicing his master, who also has all types of berries, Pokemon treats and whatnot in his plentiful and deep pockets. Few Pokemon, except for Murkrow and Golisopod, though, accept berries from him as they're often partially digested. As all Honchkrows, he doesn't want a potential challanger to take away the status of the strongest trainer around (wether anyone in Alola outside of Team Skull thinks so or not) from his master, whom he sees as a head of the flock (that includes Team Skull and Hocnhkrow's flock), so he flies around, looking for anyone who catches his interest as a good trainer. He watches days and even weeks non-stop, like a predator its prey, before assulting an unsuspecting trainer, trying to either scare them, or lead them to Po Town, or leading his master to them. For the second option he usually steals Z-crystals, hoarding them (a reference to an a collection of stolen Buginium-Zs from the games). Here's where a feature from games is shown, that you can make your Pokemon Totem sized. Similar happens to Honchkrow but here it's explanied by overexposure to Z-aura, emitted by crystals. guess who spends many episode as a background gag character but later robs Ash and Kiawe (we're still in the first 20 eps, btw) and awaits them in Po Town? Also if you talk nice enough to Honchkrow he'll puff up and start peforming a mating dance for you. SCISOR! https://preview.redd.it/fmozgaoil5xa1.jpg?width=1045&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef2de0a2d6fa05d63fea2ed17df7bedd3a8acf64 I don't have much to say about him outside of him previously belonging to Plumeria as a Scyther. A tought guy, true warrior, loyal, sometimes goes under Plumeria's command. RIP during Manalo Conference, that was painful to watch. Encapsulases major charater traits of adult (or current) Guzma and Plumeria. idk, come up with a joke where he has difficult relatiops with Golisopod due to Emergency Exit. Fan of female Golisopod because of Pursuit, I guess MASQUERAIN! I love animation errors! The only mon I'd change a gender from what it is in games because an idea of a small princess of Po Town is too precious! The latest catch, or rather hatch. She was found as an egg, abandond due to unknown circumstances (I have ideas, though) less than 6 months prior to Ash's arrival (timeframe for Gladion). She's still a baby, despite being a fully evolved Pokemon, as she got so inspired by watching Guzma and Golisopod fight, first living creatures she ever saw, she evolved prematurely (basically we get a Masquerain at level 3, lol). As a result she has a hidden ability instead of a regular Intimidate, it takes her THE WHOLE SERIES to learn all 4 moves (spider web upon hatching, Helping Hand closer to midpoint Moonlight Greatsword combo of HH and Liquidation, Waterpulse at a point of your choice, but Hurrican upon evolving. I know her learning order is out of whack, shut up, competitive players). She's compassionate and naive, serving as an insight of naivity (and cope) of Skull Grunts. She finds her rightful place a support, both in battle and emotional. Pulls pranks on Ash and his schoolmates and always threaten Kukui to get him... bug bitten. She also appears as an episodic more of a background character at first, introducing Skull Trio (who fail to babysit her. We'll GET THERE). Her funtion is also to show that Guzma is exceptionally good with baby Pokemon and prevolutions. SALLAZLE! isn't Adventures manga beautiful? Plumeria's Poison ace. Yass Queen, likes to dance, always smacks away Tupp's Salandit 3rd wave feminist, lol. She together with Scyther and the next Pokemon won Plumeria her Z-ring and Poison Z-crystal from the ejected kahuna of Ula'Ula Island... She might be a little cold and easily annoyed (like her mistress), but ultimately she can warm the coldest of hearts and supports the ones in need wholeheartly. Besties with Golisopod. could you teach me that exies of yours, love? No? CROBAT! that's the best crobat drawing aside from Conquest She's more here to balance out abundance of Pokemon some other characters have, mainly Ash, Gladion, Kiawe and Guzma. The fact that she Crobat should tell her everything Plumeria as a person. She is seeing teaching Rupp's Zubat and helping it evolve into Golbat. Very strong and brave. Is saddended by a particular Plumeria's problem (tip: in the games Plumeria doesn't fight you with even half her force and prefers to postpone a fight). GENGAR! spooked yet? you better be! Plumeria's Ghost type ace! Used to be Guzma's Haunter. Hyperactive ghost buddy, who either gives you free hugs or t̸̤̊ ̸͈̾ç̸̂ ̴̞͌K̷͍̒l̴̗͒e̷̳̅. Came with a key stone, knows many antient rituals (as he's actually pretty old, still acts like a child), never backs down and never lets up! Also likes dancing and prancking. Besties with Scisor, has a battle to finish with him. Embodies major character traits of young Guzma nd Plumeria. Knows Fire Punch, Psychic, Phantom Force and Acid Spray. His existance would clash with Greedy Lapoo, whom I, honestly, don't want to throw away. Guess there are just two Gengars in the show. Again, funny Totem isze vs normal size difference. Now we are moving to a serious part of the post Plumeria she's amazing, trust me Ah, Plumeria, my dear. Every media hates you. You are nothing but a plot device in anime, barely have any screentime in the games and an absolute XY arch level of a mess in Adventures manga. You're saved entirely by environmental storytelling and the fact that you keep the keys to the deepest lore of S&M and USUM. I hope what I said before is enough to understand how badly written she is in the anime. Making her a flashback device was agonizing to watch. So let me tell her what she should have been like. I've linked a post above that explains it in greater detail, but the only thing you need to know for the purposes of this post is that she had a strong connection master-student connction with the ejected kahuna of Ula'Ula, a person, who could not be around anymore. That kahuna was essentially publically condamned by a tapu, most likely Tapu Bulu, by being ejected from his position, which killed him spirtually and destroyed his legacy, most importantly, a society formed around, memebers of which were Plumeria and Guzma. It isn't known if he survived the event, but it was acompanied by that tapu destroying Tapu Village, Po Town, Mega Markt and flooding of good portion of Ula'Ula. Basically, it was a local doomsday. Their Master, their spiritual guide was denounced a sinner by practically a god and punished in the most violent way possible. We don't know if either were present on the Isalnd that day, but they definitely saw the consequences. It WAS traumatizing. Dozens if not hundreds of lives were destroyed at the very least figuratively. Doesn't help that, as evidenced by Guzma, the kids were quickly relocated to be students of other kahunas. The biggest quetion that would naturally rise for both - why? I believe this quetion eventually poisons both, cultivating doubt and fear. Plumeria and Guzma should be realistically fearful of tapus, as they only saw one as a destructive force. There isn't any commentary on that in the games, but Guzma does indeed keep his distance away from all Ruins (not in manga, that that plot point is cut there). But Plumeria doesn't! this and a certain level of discrance and overseening she holds over the team and NANU and MOLAYNE reaching out to her to take part in the Alolan League in the games makes me think she could have been a renegade in public eyes and thus almost unredeemable. Why do I think so? We learn in postame that Plumeria in actuallity is a very strong E4 level trainer that distance herself from public and was apparently close to the ejected kahuna. I imagine she could have stayed loyal to him, continuing as his student if he wasn't killed (also he's confirmed to be a man). The fact that she overcomes her supposed fear of tapus and waits for us right next to Ruins of Life (symbolic name...) may imply that she has a spiritual training and probably some kind of a satisfying answer to why her Master was ejected. She's ready to move forward, but is held back by Alolan traditions (as she's a student of a sinner). Thus she uses her energy to save from falling into the darkest pits of hell most vulnerable - Team Skull. Plumeria's arch as a person, who faced social ostracism and rejection should have been the focal point. Everything naturally centers around her: problems of Skull Grunts (most should have been stated to be troubled but not evil or bullish kids), the Alolan traditions, the story of Po Town, Scisor and Gengar, Guzma's family drama. Speaking about... Guzma With this background as a confused kid who got thrown between different kahunas, lacking some crusuial education level as a trainer and complicated relatioships with his family makes everything pretty straightforward. He's been taught different things in different ways, he was raised differently as someone who works with Pokemon in some way prior to be given to Hala who focuses mainly on fighting, he lacks training and knowledge in some aspect that he doesn't understand (and maybe Hala doesn't either), his parents (that could have had poor spiritual education themselves) are getting more and more disappointed with him (maybe to the point of getting violent golfclubs), Guzma gets frustrated with Alolan traditions, probably finds other activities along the way in which he's objectively better, but doesn't have an opportunity to fully explore them, has a friend that outgrows him, gets angry at him for that. DONE. That's the whole story. NOW it makes sense. Guzma literally runs away from something that lost all meaning to him, driven by moral confusion, fear of tapus, jealousy and by simply missing his friends from Ula'Ula. He wants to come back, he runs away (you can throw in abuse, if you like), he gathers his friends back together. I know you could say (and some of you do, I asked!) that maybe that disaster thing is a bit too heavy. I ask you to count all dead Pokemon and people as well as counting how much of them died ON SCREEN in S&M alone. You will be surpised (Totem Trevenant, Minior, Stoutland, Ultra Necrozma I guess?, Mallow's mom. I believe there's more). So you don't have to focus on a disaster. Focus on people, on how the kahuna is no the master anymore, how everyone is sad and scared, what hardships everyone go through as they grow. Less physical violance on screen, more emotions and moral choices. PLEASE SOMEONE CONFIRM OR DISPROVE IF THE JAPANESE LINE IN GUZMA'S DAD'S INNITIAL DIALOGUE INDEED IMPLIES HOME VIOLANCE, OR IF IT'S JUST A POPULAR HEADCANON With it comes the bigger picture that many kids lost their ways with kahuna ejection, that therer are also many kids that are outcastst for other reasons. Plumeria, seeing a bunch of misguided teens, takes a task on her to prevent them from becoming evil. TEAM SKULL AS WE KNOW IS FORMED. BOOM. This works perfectly with a couple of other things. First of them is those other talents Guzma could have (and has for our rewritten version anime) and how she got to know Lusamine. Yes, I'm restioring this part from the games. Get this: both in games and anime Guzma took part in many competitions but never made past 2nd place (parents are getting tired of it + Bug type specialization). Lusamine as a respected member of the society prpbably served as a referee or a sponsor of some of these competitions. She notices Guzma, admires his strenght ("she was the only adult who recognized his strenght")? What do you do with a promising kid? Right, you offer him a summer job! Gives them different tasks, observes from time to time (remmeber, Mohn should have been around still, so Lusamine would have time for her children and an extra), make conclusions. Easy! Guzma and Lusamine arch restored! What his other talents is to your choice, but i put my money on pokemon taming, something that he canonnically did in agmes (catching Pokemons with bear hands) and consequently being very knowedgable of various Pokemon, an ability to measure correctly the strenght of your opponent and yourself, being disciplined, patient and determined. Guzma does have all of these positive traights, he fails to turn them into a habit. That's EXACTLY what Lusamine is doing! She gives him task on Pokemon taming and interacting with Pokemon in general: daycare, first aid, you name it. She can realistically continue doing it by the time Ash arrives, but the idiot has aleady earned himself a reputation of a cruel and merciless trainer (and a bully, thanks, Honchkrow). That doesn't prevent Guzma from feeling both greatfull and guilty before Lusamine, so he secures his identity as an Aether employee. BAM! We have anime Guzma working at Aether! Complete with a lazy ass funny sort of Aether uniform but not really disguise and LOADS of FUNNY and ADORABLENESS potential! The second is having a connective tissue of sorts between different characters and different archs. And it works for everything! Let's take Gladion. So a kid 6 months prior to ash's arrival leaves home with Type Null to become stronger, wants to gain a power to tame the Crescent Beast (I believe that's how Gladion also calls him in japanese), learns about an unbeatable, merciless trainer, a leader of a scary gang, decides to test how cool he actually is, gets rekt, asks to become Guzma's student, Team Skull Boss agrees but under conditions. BAM! Gladion the Team Skull Enforcer restored in the anime. Though this we learn a backstory of Masquerain, how she helped Gladion to evolve his Eveee and Rockruff, Guzma teaches Gladion to deal with rage of his two Pokemon: Midnight Lycanrock and Type Null (actually spits out helpful stuff and redpills the kid about realities of being a Pokemon Trainer). Gladion eventually defeats Guzma, he wirdly to himself doesn't get frustrated, tatstes what it's like to respect a human opponent. Everyone learned some lesson. You can easily through in Emergency Exit true mechanics in it, won't be out place. the thing about EE is that's not acitivated by will, but turns on by itself. But you can postpone it by keeping an eye on your Golisopod's endurance and stamina. You need to be really in synch to evalute it accuratly, be fairly experienced and confident. Guzma at times fails on the last, which he needs to work on You can curcle it BACK to Guzma being an undercover Aether employee and even to Faba's conpiracy. So Guzma is tasked with importatnt missions that he must cary all by himself as a big group of people would attract Pokemon hunters. He interacts with rare and often dangerous Pokemon. On one of his Speciality Aether Expedition (highly confidential enterprise) he finds out about poachers. The pouchers lead him to Faba, Faba to Hunter D and Hunter D leads to Team Rcoket with their Blinding one plans WHICH LEADS TO NANU, an EX-TEAM ROCKET EXECUTIVE. Oh, this is where Liepard is helpful. We can go even further and dive into this Nanu topic! It is based on a popular speculation that Nanu in agmes was a part of something that is sometimes called Old Team Skull (which anime partially confirms with Rocket ties!), which were appparently so bad Nanu, an ex-Interpol agent, he should know really bad guys when he sees them) formed his Police Task Force. So let's roll with it! As Nanu was part of the group there was a moral fallout, which coud be connected to the image of the ejected kahuna and how he was good his teachings sacred and the baddies now spoil his picture. Perheps Team Rocket agents took over or influenced the Team in other way, which turned them really nasty. Nanu saw it as a way out of Team Rocket. Guess whom he catches by hand who's not happy about the direction the team has chosen? Yep, the tall lousy Grunt with Golisopod, who ran away from home to find his childhood place in ruins. An angry angsty teen with ideologically charged friends and a girl known to be a witch and a renegade, but strong and selfless. PERFECT TO TAKE ON THE BADDIES. AND NOW THESE BADDIES ARE BACK. Yo! You don't even need to write that much of the existing series. I mean, there still is going to be plenty. But it sounds eciting enough to me to do it! But what do you think? You can circle EVERYTHING like that. And that's exactly wjat team Skull was desinged to do: they are a swinging point of the story, introducing scenaros and giving counter arguements to some points and themes. Kukui I started my criticism of the anime with ancertain role of Kukui in this story. But what we establiched so after I think he fianlly has a puzzle to fit. An ex-rival, exceeding his past pathner in fail, unreachable through the web of doubt and confusion about... everything. Neither the games, nor the anime are cleary about kind of rivarly it was: a Red vs Green (Ash vs Gary) like, or a friendlier one, like Hau and us. It's ok the games left it to our imagination. The anime was indeed free to make it obscure, but it wouldn't be wrong to give it more shape. Here's one problem: if we leave the Trial part in Kukui's story in its entirety, at least the beating the trial Challnge part, as there are no Captains in the anime, it means something prevented him from completeing them. we know everything about Guzma, but what about Kukui? I made a seperate post about, also linked above. But my guess is that we have to make one flaw in Kukui that serves as a social commentary on how contagious rumors and public prejudice are. Kukui partially buys into the worst assumptions and even rumours about Team Skull and Guzma and he doesn't even fully understand that. This leads to the betrayal of these boundaries which spoils the relationships between Guzma and Kukui bad enough the former wants to destroy him and the League. I don't want any "betrayal" type of soap opera, but nothing really comes to mind either. So I leave it to you, what mistake Kukui makes and regrets it? Before this point the two could have one off exchanges to buid their characters and set some jokes, like, idk, Guzma calling Kukui a bad teach, but it comes back to him as Lusamine orders to set a school trip for Ash and his classmates and sicne her daughter is going to be there the trip is better to be informative and SAFE, or else..... which else would you make it? XD what's your faivorite Lusamine's yandere face? That's the perfect part to come up with running gags and fun fillers AND to end this post. You're a hero if you made it all the way here. 2023.04.30 19:22 Voltes-Drifter-2187 How I Would Fix (in Writing And Making) - Airplane II: The Sequel (1982)
| Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the air... Hello faithful Redditors, and welcome to my first How I Would Fix post where I or any one of you takes a piece of popular culture (a film, television series, novel, video game or whatever) and imagine an alternate perfect universe in which the piece is still successful and or influential to the culture at large, but you list 26 or more total differences in which the new version would differ from the original and therefore appeal to you. This week, I am tackling a film which when I was a toddler flowed together with two others while channel surfing and helped introduce me in elementary school to one of the greatest comedy parody films ever made. Yes, this week I am tackling the follow-up to 1980's Airplane! which parodies franchising and science fiction with it - 1982's Airplane II: The Sequel. For all those Baby Boomers and Generation X folks who frequent this subreddit, do you remember where you were and what you were doing back in 1980 when the original Airplane!/ Flying High! and in 1982 when the sequel I am covering came out? I didn't even know what the title of the film I was watching was until 2nd Grade in 2002 as this film flowed together with the 11th James Bond outing Moonraker and the 1993 true story drama Alive and even Cliffhanger due to channel surfing as a toddler. I followed it as a space shuttle launches from a not-vertical ramp wheels down, docks at a space station where a fierce laser gun battle destroys the station, a dog jumps to catch a briefcase, escapes to slam through a base screen like the ending train crash in Silver Streak, and then crashes to a belly landing on an icy planet or snowy mountains down on Earth. Through this outing, we are going to take a look at one of many alternate universes in which Airplane/ Flying High II: The Sequel has a somewhat different path in terms of development as well as certain author appeal elements that might make it enjoyable wherein hopefully, others will be eager enough to indulge in this and other concepts that would certainly change up the basic story a little drastically. For our purposes, lets say the Zucker brothers (David and Jerry) along with Jim Abrahams returned along with almost all of the original cast to craft a suitable follow-up that does not completely rehash the original Airplane!/ Flying High! beat for beat whilst lovingly satirizing the franchising of film sequels as well as science fiction. With deleted TV scenes reincorporated, Paramount would produce it on a $25 Million budget. - First off, we would open with a similar Star Wars-styled opening crawl that would reveal construction of colonies on the surfaces of the Moon (Terra Luna), Mars and its moons Phobos and Deimos; Jupiter's moons Europa, Ganymede and Callisto; Saturn's moons Dione, Enceladus, Iapetus, Mimas, Rhea, Tethys and Titan. With such a civilian-military partnership for the colonization of space comes a new era of space travel. Even as the atomic-powered XR-2300 passenger space shuttles Pathfinder IV, Solaris VII and Constellation XIII remain grounded pending further tests; their fleet sisters Mayflower I, Enterprise II, Columbia III, Challenger V, Discovery VI, Atlantis VIII, Endeavour IX, Constitution X, Daedalus XI and Olympus XII are being prepared by NASA, the armed forces and Pan Universe Space Lines for their maiden flights.
- We then cut to Houston, Texas in between Mission Control at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and the Houston Intercontinental Airport as passengers from a variety of backgrounds including civilian and military would be arriving for the first passenger space shuttle launches. Many of the gags seen in the final film during the terminal scenes would be recycled here, but it would instead be Theodore J. "Ted" Striker (Robert Hays) who would be taking Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty) to the launch of Mayflower I to Europa. After a successful trial in which Ted managed to defend his record and was found not guilty, Ted has been reassigned to be chief test pilot and Earth-based troubleshooter for the XR-2300 Program. He is proud to accompany Elaine who is part of the flight crew, and they are still quite deeply in love.
- A little ways behind them, we find XR-2300 Program executive Elmore "Bud" Kruger (Rip Torn) and the NASA Commissioner (John Dehner) arriving to discuss the grounding of the Pathfinder, Solaris and Constellation flights. Kruger demands the Commissioner find a way to pressure the boys on the program's board to apply similar pressure first to the boys in Houston, then the boys in Washington and then the President himself to take safety into consideration and put the passengers' lives before corporate profits. Like with the finished film; the Phoenix VI XR-2200 test shuttle is crashed by a boy who plays with the auto-landing control station like it's a video game, the no-frills charter 794 deplanes its passengers via slide wire, and a rich Texan passenger makes a hefty donation to the Heart Charity before checking in.
- Ted and Elaine are in a crew lounge just past the libidinous security checkpoint inside the newly built Neil Armstrong International Space Terminal reviewing the prime navigational charts for each of the launching shuttles Friday night as it is only Sunday night. Elaine then speaks up that she still worries about the fleet having seen both Ted and his rival Simon Kurtz's reports as Simon is one of the program's top test pilots. Ted replies that Simon was a top test pilot until his corruption and pushing misinformation about the former's competence was revealed in court as corporate-based cost-cutting and a mental breakdown during a crucial test. The opinion of a madman who is also a coward doesn't impress Ted or anyone else on the program. Ted isn't the same bundle of nerves he was back in 1980 aboard Trans American 209.
- Over at the Ronald Reagan Hospital for the Mentally Ill ("We Cure People The Old-Fashioned Way!"), we see many of the same gags from the finished film as their lead psychiatrists Dr. Franklin R. Stone (John Vernon) and Dr. Rumack (Leslie Nielsen) arrive to check on their primary patient for the evening - one Simon Kurtz (Chad Everett) himself. Handing him the evening Houston Chronicle newspaper, Rumack is taken aback by Simon's over the top reaction to the revenue flights of Pathfinder, Solaris and Constellation being pushed back for further testing. Simon is adamant that he is being framed for the crash he tried to pin on Striker even as Rumack tries to calm his patient down. Fervent in his belief that Striker conned himself out of his dream job in the space program and a beautiful woman in Elaine, he quickly escapes.
- Back at the spaceport, Ted and Elaine are overseeing the ground tests for Pathfinder, Solaris and Constellation to be piloted by remote computer operation before getting a crew and passengers for the three's first revenue flights. The other ten would spot and monitor them on their first flights into and out of Earth orbit during their launches. During the testing, a hatch sparks on Pathfinder which reveals the shorting out wiring to be found in the B Block of the XR-2300s that Simon Kurtz approved before he was committed. Elaine orders for the Sarge (Chuck Connors) via walkie-talkie to come and examine the wiring sample she extracts. Noticing that the wiring matches the type found in the shuttle crash Ted and Simon were on, the Sarge gets on the horn to Kruger to demand answers for why the wiring was not replaced.
- The new wiring that Striker specifies for the entire program won't arrive for the three grounded shuttles until the following week Tuesday. In the meantime, they are to continue remote tests on Block B whilst the ten Block A shuttles approved by Striker should be cleared for their maiden flights. Striker and the Sarge stand near fuel drums with the Sarge's cigar to consider themselves lucky as they consider what the former could have faced were his case not so ironclad - he could have had Simon's one-way ticket to the loony bin. Simon leaves a cardboard cutout likeness of himself in his hospital bed as he passes Jack Jones singing the "Love Boat Theme" whilst escaping out to the airport in order to save his reputation by flying Pathfinder IV himself. A 747 for Pan American lands as the launch date for the shuttles approaches.
- A scene from the TV versions cut from the theatrical version is reinstated as Mrs. Seluchi (Lee Purcell) is helping her husband Joe (Sonny Bono) get checked in for a flight to Des Moines for a sexual impotency operation at the Des Moines Institute. But instead of Des Moines, Joe is secretly plotting to board one of the shuttles and blow him and the shuttle to kingdom come with a time bomb he purchases from the duty-free store in the terminal. He does this as it is Friday night when the shuttles are to be launched as the Earth will be in a prime position to make the flights to their destinations via the shortest distances possible. Having snuck his way into the terminal, Simon buys a ticket for the Pan Universe shuttles, disguises himself as a shuttle crewmember, and opens the departure gates to allow Pathfinder to board passengers.
- Striker and Elaine are checking in aboard the Mayflower to introduce the Navigator Dave Unger (Kent McCord) and First Officer Winston Dunn (James A. Watson Jr.) - both USAF Captains who served in the Air Force under the Mayflower's commander, Captain Clarence Oveur (Peter Graves). As the bit between Oveur, Unger and Dunn plays out; Elaine goes to check on stewardesses Testa (Laurene Landon) and Mary (Wendy Phillips) as Ted goes to check out the shuttles before he himself boards the Mayflower for the trip to Europa. Called over by the Sarge to investigate Pathfinder, Ted discovers Simon strapping himself into the cockpit of the shuttle as passengers finish boarding to be a part of the first remote test flight to the base on Enceladus. Both Ted and the Sarge get a bad feeling in their guts about the Pathfinder test flight.
- The main controllers for the maiden voyages/test flights in Houston - Jacobs (Stephen Stucker), Stinson (Richard Jaeckel), Ashmore (Frank Ashmore) and Hancock (John Hancock) monitor the shuttles as they taxi out to their launching ramps to engage the launching process. Jump-starting the process by way of a 1959 Edsel; the ramps with the shuttles clamped down to them tilt the forward nose ends up to 40° launch angles, each shuttle fires up their three main engines to full power from their clean Chogokin nuclear reactors, and then electromagnetically catapulted into the night sky and outer space by railguns in the ramps. So far so good reports Mayflower as the shuttles reach escape velocity of 25,000 miles per hour stowing their landing gear and preparing to leave Earth orbit whilst performing primary systems checks.
- With the shuttles having achieved an orbit around both Earth and the Moon without a hitch, scenes from the TV versions excised from the theatrical cut are restored as Ted reads an exploding Modern Electronics magazine while the Texan passenger reads the several volumes of the Talmud while the ship's flight crew is ordering some breakfast from Testa. Steak and eggs is the order for the flight crew as there is confusion about whether Oveur wants his eggs poached and over easy, and Elaine simply asks for her steak to be a little underdone which is confused for asking for Unger and Dunn's preferences. Aboard the Mayflower are the Wilson family of John (Dennis Howard), Alice (Mary Farrell), their son Jimmy (Oliver Robins) and their dog Scraps journeying to Europa. After a close encounter with a living vacuum, Ted goes to relax.
- Elaine soon comes out on a break from her duty as Mayflower's Chief Computer Officer as Ted tells her Simon has boarded the Pathfinder and allowed passengers to accompany him. An elderly female passenger (Ann Nelson) sitting behind Dave "Jack" (Howard Honig) and Edith Walters (Mary Mercier) asks Ted and Elaine what seems to be the problem. Ted and Elaine think back to the court trial after Ted and Simon crashed an XR-2300 lunar shuttle during a test. Via flashback, we see the Prosecuting Attorney (John Larch) and Simon making a spirited case which falls apart as Ted presents the evidence via a highly detailed 862-page report verified by the data gained from the crash. Simon's cost-cutting for the Block B shuttles' wiring has turned them into flying death traps which Simon tries to pass blame on to Striker.
- As the Judge (Raymond Burr) and Courtroom Reporter (Stephen Stucker, again) call for order, we see the same defense given by the Defense Attorney (Sandy Ward) over Ted saving Trans American 209 with passengers like the first Jive Dude (Al White) and Mrs. Hammen (Lee Bryant) called in as witnesses for the defense of Ted's character. Barring a last witness (Louis Giambalvo) who flew with Striker during "the War", our hero Ted's case is ironclad and now it would appear as though Simon Kurtz - a head executive and test pilot in the XR-2300 Program - may have more culpability in the crash than the original intended scapegoat. After courting the mental and medical analyses of Rumack and Dr. Stone, the jury concludes that Simon is in need of treatment for both chronic psychological stress and endangering the public.
- The flashback over, Elaine and Ted find their reminiscing about their victory has bored the elderly woman to death by airsickness as she is only a clean skeleton between them. As the Enterprise II prepares to land on the Moon with her passengers and crew, the other shuttles continue on. Trouble soon starts when Mayflower detects overheats in the computer cores of Pathfinder, Solaris and Constellation. Using the Mayflower's onboard Targeted Interfacing Mainframe (T.I.M. or Tim) 9000 computer to remotely check the three errant remote shuttles, Elaine discovers that Solaris and Constellation are registering the overheats and require urgent attention. The Pathfinder's ROK 9000 computer, however, replies that all systems are normal with no apparent overheat and that such registration could only be a human error.
- Having heard of the problems facing the three remote shuttles, Ted comes up and tells Oveur to break Mayflower off course to keep a tab on Pathfinder. In order to get the overheats checked out and under control, Elaine takes Unger and Dunn back to the emergency escape dimensional teleportation unit aboard Mayflower to beam one of them to the Solaris and Constellation. After they sort things out on those two, they will beam over to try to get Pathfinder under remote manual control together and shut down her overheat. Columbia III, Challenger V and Discovery VI soon break off for Mars, Phobos and Deimos to make successful delivery landings. Like with the film, Jimmy and Scraps come up to visit Captain Oveur in the cockpit of Mayflower as Unger and Dunn finish up and prepare to beam over to Pathfinder.
- What they find in the computer core of Pathfinder is blazing fires from every computer interface they quickly put out. Oveur detects that Pathfinder is heading off course into a dense but spontaneous gravitational storm in the Asteroid Belt where asteroids are closer and bouncing around enough to pose a threat to the ship as he takes Mayflower off to rescue her sister. Dunn contacts Oveur to tell of the fire as they must disconnect the damaged systems as Unger attempts a manual shutdown of ROK while they still hope to control his higher brain functions. Unfortunately, ROK manages to kill Unger and Dunn by blowing them out the airlock into space without protection to become space ballerinos. Ted and Elaine inform the Mayflower's passengers they are moving to rescue Pathfinder so they must remain calm and try to help.
- The passengers know that the fire in ROK's core has played havoc with his higher brain functions, Dunn and Unger were sucked out Pathfinder's airlock, and now the passengers who boarded the troubled sister ship have run out of coffee! Drawing up a plan, Oveur tasks Mary and Testa to cover and comfort the Pathfinder's scared passengers and try to fix the galley so more coffee can be made. In the meantime, Ted and Elaine will take control of Mayflower as Oveur and TIM will try to remotely disconnect ROK's higher brain functions without disturbing his purely automatic and regulatory systems in trying to get the Enceladus-bound Pathfinder under manual control. Back at Mission Control in Houston, the controllers realize they need Steve McCroskey and Rex Kramer to help recover the out of control Pathfinder shuttle.
- A scene at the Old Folks' Home from the TV versions excised from the theatrical cut is restored but with Kramer (Robert Stack) coming to visit McCroskey (Lloyd Bridges) as the latter picked the wrong time to go senile as they are summoned to Johnson Space Center. They do so, and they request the presence of Kruger, the Sarge and the Commissioner in order to get Pathfinder back under control. In the meantime, scenes aboard the Mayflower involving the Shaving Passenger (Craig Berenson), Father O'Flanagan (James Noble) and the Schoolgirl (Monique Gabrielle) in the final film are transferred to the Pathfinder. As Ted and Elaine beam Mary and Testa over to Pathfinder, Oveur and TIM try to shut down ROK by remote but Oveur is gassed by ROK's self-defense mechanism's whiplashing back across space to the Mayflower.
- Elaine beams over to Pathfinder after hearing of Oveur being gassed by ROK and points out to Simon that he and the ship are off course. Simon discovers that his subject of affection - Elaine - is right. Pathfinder is off course and by their calculations on a collision course for the Sun! Demanding that they get off the ship, Simon is rebuffed as Elaine sees the passengers Simon is trying to forget about as they must change course back for Enceladus to save everything. Simon is more concerned that his attempts to save his tarnished career are all for naught as Elaine sees him for the coward he truly is. Ready and raring to go, Ted sends Testa back to the Mayflower to get Oveur recovered so they can track Pathfinder. Down at Mission Control, similar scenes to the finished film play out with the addition of Kramer to the mix.
- Among such scenes are Jacobs' story relations, Stinson ordering molten lead to be poured down to calm the angry masses who are the families of the passengers aboard Pathfinder, losing and restoring radio contact with Pathfinder; and some scenes put back in for the TV versions like the controllers trying to contact the Mayflower and Pathfinder and going nuts, and the revelations about Seluchi being the bomber aboard a shuttle. Lieutenant Hallick (Floyd Levine) of the Houston Police Department (HPD)'s Homicide unit reports on Seluchi giving his wife a $1,000,000.00 auto insurance policy before boarding the Pathfinder after Simon opened her up for passengers. Realizing what dangers both Seluchi and Simon pose to Pathfinder's passengers, Jacobs and McCroskey order for the Sarge to come help them in disarming Seluchi.
- The news of Pathfinder's distress spreads like wildfire as seen in the final film with news anchors in Buffalo, New York; Tokyo, Japan; and Moscow, Soviet Union all report on the shuttle as following their top stories of four-alarm fires in their respective downtowns. In one sequence restored from the TV versions but modified, Ted and Elaine strip out of their work clothes to reveal their swimwear underneath for sunbathing from the first film's beach scene as they try to cool off with the heat getting to the passengers aboard Pathfinder dropping like flies transferred from the Mayflower due to the faulty cooling system. The passengers and crew aboard Mayflower are spared from such steaming heat with their cooling systems working perfectly. Oveur and Testa are notified by Ashmore, McCroskey and Kramer of Seluchi and his bomb.
- Elaine and Ted realize that Seluchi's bomb may be their ticket to blowing ROK and getting the Pathfinder back on course. Striker orders Oveur to send the Wilson family and Scraps over from the Mayflower to help - just in case. Changing back into uniform, Elaine goes back to check on the passengers and fills Mary in on what they need to do. As Elaine does a walk-through with Mary announcing every passenger who is not carrying a bomb onboard to move to the ship's lounge, the confrontation between Striker and Seluchi in the finished film is changed around. Scraps watches as Elaine tackles Seluchi in his fit of delirium as the bomb briefcase goes flying into the air - and then the heroic dog leaps into the air to catch it in the nick of time. Back on the ground, Mission Control receives the news in a restored TV scene changed.
- Controller Janet patches the Commissioner in to the White House where the President (Rip Torn) is informed of the Pathfinder's distress but of the other eleven shuttles reaching their destinations without a hitch. Only Mayflower is following Pathfinder in order to rescue her. Ted and Elaine inform Kramer, McCroskey, Oveur and the Sarge on their plan to use the bomb to blow ROK and get the Pathfinder back on course for Enceladus. Oveur replies that once the Pathfinder is clear of the Sun's gravitational pull, he will get the Mayflower back on course for Europa. Even as Jacobs suggests ideas for McCroskey like a game show similar to Hollywood Squares with kids and Gary Coleman hosting, the ground crews at Mission Control are betting on who can survive the Pathfinder even as they prepare to transfer to Enceladus.
- Ted goes back to the Pathfinder's computer room to set the bomb and blow ROK while in a sequence restored from the TV versions, Elaine tries without success to stop Simon from suiting up and bailing out by taking the Pathfinder's only escape pod. In the moments before the bomb blows; Kramer informs Striker to his horror that when the Pathfinder enters Enceladus radio range, they will be guided in by his and Striker's old squadron mate from the war - Commander William "Buck" Murdock at Enceladus Base Alpha Beta. The bomb explodes in the nick of time releasing the Pathfinder from computer control as Elaine programs a course change in to get back on course for Enceladus. Mayflower begins turning around as Striker activates the experimental transwarp drive for Pathfinder to reach 1/2 light speed back for Enceladus.
- With the Mayflower entering its own transwarp for 1/4 light speed back for Europa which at their rate of speed should only take two hours, Ted and Elaine watch as the stars outside stretch and go trippy with Pathfinder traversing the two-and-a-half hour flight distance from the Sun to Enceladus. Oveur and Testa transmit a distress message from Mayflower on Pathfinder's behalf which is received by the Alpha Beta base. Alpha Beta is home to a city supporting mineral and water mining operations as well as atmospheric terraforming stations designed to make the moon livable. USN Lieutenants Bergman (Sandahl Bergman), Pervis (Richard Gilliland) and Rorshack (Steven Hirsch) summon Murdock (William Shatner) in a long sequence similar to the finished film. Murdock is still a tad bitter over the raid on Macho Grande.
- Like with the finished film, many of the gags in Alpha Beta will be found here - the generator with red lights and no apparent function, console lights that blink in and out of sequence, Rorshack with his Rorschach inkblot tests, Bergman showing Murdock the record on Ted Striker which is an LP of "400 accordion polka favorites", the ridiculous orders of Murdock, and him looking up through the periscope to see the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek: The Original Series (not to be confused with the Enterprise II shuttle that landed on the Moon earlier in the film). In the meantime, Elaine and Mary set about fixing the Pathfinder's computer room and securing her airlock so ROK cannot reactivate and cause further sabotage. Ted, in the meantime, has to keep the ship from shaking herself apart in the exit from transwarp drive.
- The Pathfinder is contacted from the Alpha Beta bridge by Murdock as he and Striker reacquaint themselves with Elaine reentering the cockpit to take the copilot seat as to assist during the entry and landing in Enceladus' limited atmosphere. At the right moment, Ted and Elaine disengage the transwarp drive and come out of 1/2 light speed smoothly and stably to begin a retrograde orbit that will get them down into the atmosphere. Suddenly, a fire erupts in the transwarp control lever and panel interface forcing the two to use one of Elaine's bobby pins to short it out and regain control. Buckling about the limited atmosphere of Enceladus on entry, the Pathfinder cannot lower her landing gears as their control lines were damaged in the bomb explosion. All Ted and Elaine can do is keep her from flying apart through crash landing.
- Oveur and Testa arrive safely with the Mayflower and her passengers on Europa as they listen to the news outlets on Earth panicking and freaking out over the coming crash on Enceladus. Like with the finished film, Murdock confidently tries to talk Striker through the landing as he and Elaine crash the Pathfinder through Alpha Beta's bridge and then bump across the icy and snowy terrain of the moon before coming to a safe belly landing stop. Talk about a successful landing with relatively minimal and superficial damage, Ted and Elaine help Mary in evacuating the passengers down the slide to be greeted by Alpha Beta personnel and Hare Krishnas from the Church of Enceladan Consciousness. The film ends with Ted and Elaine getting married on Enceladus and lifting off aboard Pathfinder for a honeymoon. Roll credits.
And that's my first How I Would Fix post for Airplane/ Flying High II: The Sequel (1982). It strays a good deal from the original version by reuniting the family created from the first Airplane!/ Flying High! (1980) and expanding the scope. Scenes deleted from the theatrical version but put into the TV versions like for CBS, TBS/TNT and Comedy Central would be added back in for a longer film, character development from the first film is retained and expounded on as Ted and Elaine remain together, and there is a more cohesive yet still pretty funny logic to the scenes that keep them together. It's been said the original Airplane!/ Flying High! would be like "what if the Airport disaster movies were directed by Tex Avery?"; well, this idea would continue in lampooning film sequels and the science fiction genre itself. Whilst incorporating more modern ideas like Elaine sharing long scenes with the stewardesses Mary and Testa in order to pass the Bechdel-Wallace tests with the Anita Sarkeesian addendums; there would still be plenty of cartoon violence, foul language/humor, social drug usage and sexuality/nudity permitted by a PG to PG-13 rating if the current MPAA ratings of G, PG, PG-13, R and NC-17 existed back in 1982. Even Simon and ROK would be greater comic villains. This is just an Alternate Universe that I have proposed which is fun to imagine if things turned out differently. But as TV Tropes gleefully points out, Your Mileage May Vary on this - so let me know what your opinions on this idea would be and feel free to make a How I Would Fix post with any works of popular culture you can think of, like this one and others! submitted by Voltes-Drifter-2187 to fixingmovies [link] [comments] |
2023.04.30 14:38 Even-Wolverine7889 Anyone just vibe with Luka?
| I hear everyone's criticisms. "hes too flat, too passive when it comes to marinette, too perfect, not enough independent screentime" And although I disagree with some of these I see where you are coming from BUT LISTEN I just like the guy Like, he's the only character who acts like a normal human being? Besides talking in music metaphors lol When Marinette likes another boy he takes that in stride like "yeah that's what makes my friend happy". Everyone else has some kind of dramatic revelation/meltdown of some sort when they have this issue, but I like how Luka treats teenage love as it should be. "Aw man, she likes someone else. Eh, least she's still my friend so I'll be alright." That's not a gary stue moment thats a normal human being moment. He got actually upset when Marinette was avoiding him which speaks to the abandonment issues he has with his father which I liked connecting. So he is clearly not passive about everything. He confronted her about his issues with their relationship in a clear and gentle way. He is proactive but not in an aggressive way which I believe people view as passivity. People want him to be bothered by Mari liking Adrien so badly and when he isn't he is called "too perfect." I feel like we are just ignoring the core of Luka's character- that that is just not something he gets upset about. Like, I don't get upset when the lights are on when I sleep while my brother does lol. It's just a difference in how people view things. Love to him isn't possession of the person, it's purely seeing the one you love happy. But he DOES get upset at things, and not just him being selflessly upset on the behalf of others. Marinette ditching him while they were dating and her avoiding him after stemmed from having someone important to him throwing him away- not about romantic love specifically. Like I said, abandonment issues. That is on him and him alone. idk I find him really refreshing because he brought out the best in other characters to where the usual cringe of the show wouldn't appear, like Marinette getting jealous of Adrien being with other girls 24/7- in Silencer she had fun with him and showed him why he loved her in the first place, her wit and sense of justice. Like Kagami he makes Adrien and Marinette confront certain things about themselves, but less in the sense of "confronting" like Kagami, and more of gently pushing them to find their own answers. https://preview.redd.it/bcj67jc0o0xa1.jpg?width=2362&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4612959fbffad9cf59cd13ea305a16138c4b88ec https://preview.redd.it/rh0bbdafn0xa1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=671445d97036a6fb86c94f1e09662df489188495 The show became fun to watch again. He's a breath of fresh air in all the over the top dramatics in the show- which are its appeal, I get that, but sometimes you want a character like Luka to ground you you know? The way both Adrien and Marinette seem to fall for him whenever the 3 are alone together is pretty funny/cute too lol. In my opinion anyways. https://preview.redd.it/jv501pqcn0xa1.png?width=242&format=png&auto=webp&s=b9a48dbc07bd7197c201ec71a53b4711314ebba5 This is not a character analysis on why Luka is a super well written incredibly complex character or whatever Literally just me expressing why I like him If I can write this much about him I think that's worth something submitted by Even-Wolverine7889 to miraculousladybug [link] [comments] |
2023.04.29 22:54 fritolaids I'm beyond stoked for tomorrow night
